-Chapter 113-
"I know who you are. And you haven't given me one."
I opened my mouth to speak but my mind felt jumbled. I took a look around the environment from my dream and shook my head. What the hell is going on? You haven't given me one...A name?
I brought my eyes back to the girl and studied her features again. My eyes locked onto her emerald eyes that I had only seen on Syn and I held my hand over my mouth. "Are you-..."
I didn't even know how to ask it. Every way sounded weird. She waited for me to continue, but when I didn't, she gave me a knowing smile. "I'm your daughter."
I felt myself get lightheaded again and my knees became weak. She caught me before I fell to the ground and she lowered me down. "I'm sorry to introduce myself like this," she said.
I moved my hands all over her face and pinched her cheeks to see if she was real and she looked at me like I was crazy. Taking a few calming breaths, I slightly moved away from her. "What... how..." I said in a mixture of bewilderment and fascination.
"I'm sorry," she said. "I wasn't going to do this, but earlier you said if I love you that I would accept the food. And I didn't accept it so I didn't want you to think I didn't love you..."
My eyes widened as she continued ranting and when she noticed, she visibly grimaced. "I'm sorry, I get a little...you know," she said humorously as she pointed to her head.
"It's okay," I whispered. "I was more so wondering how...than why."
"I was bored so I decided to travel in your mind, kind of," she said with a wince. "I found this place and I liked it so I just stayed here."
"You traveled in my mind?" I asked as my eyes widened.
"Don't worry, I'll forget everything after I'm born," she assured.
"B-but how are you an adult?" I asked in awe.
"Oh, I'm not really. But it's your mind, so I can appear whatever age I want."
"But you can speak," I whispered.
"Well, I'm in your mind so...I know a lot of what you know at the moment. Plus I can hear you guys talk to me."
"Do you hear Syn and me..." I trailed off as she looked at me with a puzzled expression.
"Do I hear you what?"
"Have sex..." I finished awkwardly. I would stop having sex if she could hear it, that was traumatizing.
"What's that?" She asked.
"Nothing," I said.
She frowned. "Most of the time I can only hear you guys when you talk to me, which is rare." When she noticed my suddenly solemn expression she quickly smiled and shook her head. "Don't feel bad, I'm just a bit unsure of how to talk to you, I didn't think you even wanted me." She said with a small laugh and she looked down at her hands.
I took her hands into mine and she looked into my eyes. "I'm really sorry about that. I was just scared."
"Scared of me?" She asked softly.
"Not you necessarily. More so scared that you'd turn out like me," I admitted.
She frowned and tilted her head. Her curly black hair fell onto her face and she quickly moved it and looked back at me. "Why would you be afraid I'd turn out like you? You seem great to me."
"Well you may be biased," I said as I crossed my legs on the ground. "But I've done bad things."
"I know, I saw," she said.
I sighed. This was never what I imagined. My head was almost exploding at the fact that I was talking to my baby...who wasn't even born yet. I didn't understand how, but as I looked at her, I stopped caring.
"Yeah, I've hurt quite a few people," I said sadly.
"People that were hurting you," she corrected. "I've been through all of those memories and I've never seen you hurt anyone that didn't hurt you. Well except that one guy the other day, but I didn't really like him either."
I scoffed and shook my head. It was flattering that she was trying to see the best in me, but unfortunately, the sad reality was that I wasn't the person she believed me to be.
"All those kids at that school couldn't have hurt me."
She frowned. "What are you talking about? You didn't do that. It was grandma."
"What?" I asked. Grandma? The only person that fits that title and memory was Lilith unless she was talking about my mother Zara, which didn't quite make sense. She had no idea about my past. "Lilith?"
She nodded.
"She showed me the memory and I was the one who did it."
She lowered her head and let out a small laugh. "I'm sorry then, maybe I saw it wrong." I nodded slowly and she sighed as she looked around. "I'm still glad you're my mom."
"That's sweet," I said as my voice broke. Thinking back to how close I was to getting rid of her pained me now. I opened my arms and she looked at me for a moment before welcoming herself into my embrace.
"Again, I'm super sorry for bringing you here like this. I just wanted to apologize for today."
"You're forgiven there are no worries, trust me," I said quickly. "But if you don't mind answering, is there a reason you won't eat it?"
"It's not that I don't want to. But I can't. I did for a while, but now it makes me feel weak."
"Is there anything I can do or eat that'll help?"
"I don't know," she whispered. ", but I'm sure I'll be okay."
I squeezed her hands and she began smiling again. Her eyes moved to mine and she looked around nervously. "Can I ask you for a favor?"
"Anything," I said.
"Can you come to see me again sometimes?" She asked with hope obvious in her voice.
"How do I do it?"
"Before you go to sleep just ask me to and I'll bring you," she said.
"Okay, I'll be visiting a lot," I said with a laugh.
"Maybe you can bring dad, too? He talks to me a lot, but I can't respond the way I want to."
"He talks to you?" I asked in surprise.
"You were sleeping but he spent a long time doing it," she said happily. "He calls me baby girl."
She sounded so happy to say that and I found myself smiling at it. "I'm sure he'd love to meet you."
She helped me stand up from the ground and gave me one last hug. I hugged her back and almost cried, but I held it in. If I had the choice I wouldn't leave her, but she'd be with me regardless.
"I'm going to send you back, okay?"
I nodded.
She held her hand up to snap but before she did she frowned at me. "Please don't let that woman back in here."
"What woman?" I asked.
"Grandma. She comes in here sometimes," she said unsurely.
"Lilith again?"
"Yeah! Her. Don't let her come back, she scares me," she said as she shivered.
"You talked to her?" I asked.
"No, I was hiding when she came, but she makes me feel weird."
"Weird how?"
My daughter shook her head and laughed softly. "It's probably nothing, but if you can, just don't let her back in. There's something about her that I don't trust."
"Okay..."
"You should get going," she said as she looked up. "Dad sounds pretty worried about you. Bye, mom."
Snap!
I held Queen's hand and kissed it as I sat beside her in the hospital bed. I got home a couple of days ago and found her in the restroom. She was acting strangely on the phone and I came home immediately expecting to figure out what was wrong, but instead, she was passed out and hadn't woken up since. I was beginning to get uneasy not knowing what had happened. Especially considering there were fading marks on her neck I had noticed when we arrived at the hospital.
My eyes moved to the I.V. bag filled with blood that was going in through Queen's arm and I hoped it would work. We added a random soul into the blood mixture that should've been enough to wake Queen up, but she was still gone.
Adrian walked back into the room and I made eye contact with him. If there was anyone I trusted my baby and Queen with, it was him. He'd never failed me before. Besides, considering Queen had seen him a few days ago, I knew she trusted him.
"How is she?" I asked.
He walked to the I.V. with a cart and changed the bag with another one. "She's just fine. Which is why I don't understand why she's not waking up." I looked back to Queen who still seemed to be sleeping and I sighed. "But on the bright side, the baby seems to be growing," he said as he pointed to the baby bump Queen now had.
"Yeah," I whispered. It was good news. I wished I could've focused on it more, but I was too intent on Queen's recovery.
"I'll be back in an hour to check on things," Adrian said and I gave him a nod. He turned back to me before he left and gave me a small smile. "They'll be okay."
He left the room and I looked back to Queen as I held her hand up to my lips. "Please wake up, Princess."
Seeing as I wasn't going to get an answer any time soon, I moved to the one person who may give me a response. I laid a hand on Queens's stomach and sighed. "Hey baby girl, you probably can tell how your mom is doing better than I am. If she's okay, give me a kick."
I felt a small immediate kick on my hand and my brows raised in surprise.
"She likes that you call her that."
My head snapped in Queen's direction to see her looking down at me with an amused smile. I let out the biggest breath of relief I ever had in my life and stood up from my chair. I kissed her gently on the lips and looked down at her.
"Are you okay? How are you feeling? Should I call the doctor? W-"
"Syn, calm down," she said with a small laugh. "I'm great."
I sat back down in my seat and took her hand in mine. "I thought I almost lost you, Princess."
"Nope, it's going to take a lot more to get rid of me," she laughed softly.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Well, someone wanted to speak to me."
"Who?" I asked as I sat up. "Who's responsible for this?" I was getting angry, if someone had done this to Queen I was going to hurt them.
"Your daughter."
My shoulders slumped as my anger dissipated at the mention of my daughter. "What?"
"I met her when I passed out...or maybe she made me pass out I don't know. But I talked to her and everything."
"How?"
My father had spoken about meeting her too and I was getting anxious. He didn't give me many details but I was hoping Queen would. The girl is my daughter, I should be told these things.
"I don't know to be honest."
"What is she like?" I asked curiously.
"She's amazing."
"Can you use more detail?"
"I'm sorry," she said shyly. "But you can see for yourself. She wants to meet you because apparently, you talk to her while I'm sleeping?"
I winced and tilted my head. "I mean..."
"It's okay," she said with a small laugh. "I like that you talk to her. I think she feels a bit lonely."
I frowned. "Really?"
"She didn't say but she asked us to visit her when we go to sleep."
I nodded. "Then we will."
"Okay," Queen said quietly. Her eyes lazily drifted around the room and landed on her stomach. "What. The. Fuck."
"Oh yes, it turns out that Lucifer was right. The reason you weren't showing was that the baby wasn't growing. You needed the proper...nutrients."
She looked at me suspiciously and I glanced away from her. "What nutrients?"
"Just blood and souls."
"Are you serious?" She asked.
"Yes, I'm sorry I didn't ask for your permission but I thought you were dying. You were in a coma for days."
"I understand," she said.
"Really?" I asked in confusion. I expected some sort of fight from her.
"Yeah."
"I more than love you, Princess."
She laughed and shook her head. "I more than love you too, daddy."
"Excuse me?" I asked.
She looked at me for a moment and quickly shook her head. "Because you're about to be a dad, not in a sexual way!" She ranted.
"Why not in a sexual way?" I asked slyly and she raised a brow at me.
"Oh? Well, I mean..."
"Get your mind out of the gutter, Princess. I want you out of this hospital, not in it longer."
"I-"
"You're awake!" Xavier yelled as he walked through the hospital door with a bouquet of roses in his hands. He kissed her forehead and gave her the flowers as she gasped in awe.
She hugged the roses and looked up at him. "Thank you. Nobody has ever given me flowers before."
"You've never asked me for flowers," I said.
"Should a girl really have to ask, Syn?" Xavier asked in a "duh" tone as he swung his head in my direction.
The flowers in Queen's arms began to whither and she frowned. "So no flowers," Xavier said as he took the dead plants from her arms. "Noted."
"Where's Caspian?" I asked. He had stayed in here with Queen and me day and night. He only left this morning after I spent a long time convincing him she'd be fine. I didn't know he was that close to Queen but I was pleased by it.
"He's at home with Cleo. They'll be happy to know you're finally up," he said as he looked at Queen.
Queen smiled at him and he laid his hand on her stomach. "How's our baby?"
Our? He may have been my best friend in his opinion, but I refused to share my child.
"She's good," Queen said.
"She better be, we had to do a lot to get these souls," he muttered.
"Like what?" Queen asked.
Xavier and I glanced at one another and he shook his head at her. "You'd be better off not knowing."
"So," Xavier said as he clapped his hands. "What are we naming our bundle of joy?"
"Don't know yet," I said seriously. After finding out I would actually be seeing and talking to her soon, I'd be having that conversation with her personally. I wanted her to have a say in what her name would be.
"You should name her after me," he said with a groan as he sat on a chair on the other side of Queen. He sat back as he looked at the air in front of him and raised his hand. "Xavier-ina."
"That's the ugliest shit I've ever heard in my goddamn life," I said as his mouth dropped open.
Queen burst out into laughter at my words and I smiled slightly. Her laugh was my favorite thing to hear, behind her moans of course.
"What's funny?" Xavier asked. "If I had a daughter I'd name her Syn."
"Syn is a nice name," I said with a shrug. "But Xavierina? Are you insane?"
"Are you calling my name ugly?" He asked in a fake offended voice as he held his hand over his chest.
"No, I didn't say anything about the name Xavier."
Queen looked between the both of us and ruffled our hair with her hands. "You guys are adorable."
Xavier grinned and said thank you while I immediately pulled away from her and scowled. "Never do that again."
"Well," Xavier said as he stood up. "I need to go take care of some things in Hell. But I will see the both of you soon."
I nodded and he gave Queen a quick kiss on the cheek before leaving. Queen turned back to me and frowned. "I need to pee."
I stood up from my chair and lifted her into my arms. "Roll that with you."
She grabbed the I.V. stand and rolled it as I said until we reached the restroom. I set her down on her feet in front of the toilet and when she steadied herself she looked up at me.
"What?" I asked.
"Can you leave?"
"What if you pass out on the toilet?"
"Syn," she warned.
I raised my hands in surrender and walked out of the restroom. "But if you're not done in one minute I'll be coming back."
I closed the door behind me and walked back to the chair. Sitting no longer than thirty seconds, I heard Queen call my name.
"Yeah?" I asked as I peeked my head into the bathroom.
"I can't stand up," she said with a pout from the seat.
I sighed and walked over to her. "I got you, Princess."
