-Chapter 111-

Dr. Wilson slipped in the item and I held my breath. "Are you ready?"

I laid my hands on my stomach and took a deep breath. "I'm-"

I felt a strange feeling from inside my stomach and a small motion against my hands that made me frown. I looked down from the ceiling at my stomach in shock. My eyes moved back to Adrian and he lifted the gown to see the cause of my sudden worry. When he saw whatever it was, he laughed and lifted it for me to see.

I saw tiny feet from inside my stomach against my skin and I laughed softly. It was so strange to see and I couldn't deny that it felt off. There were little tingles inside my stomach every time it happened.

Adrian smiled at my stomach and shook his head. "She's a kicker, isn't she?"

She? He sighed and sat back in his seat. His professional mannerisms returned and she looked at me. "Ready?"

"I-..."

I couldn't say yes yet with all the movements inside of me. She? Syn and I had created a daughter together. And like her father, she was determined to stun me into silence and not let me continue my thought processes. Every time I was about to respond I felt her kick and I forgot what I was going to say.

"Ms. Beverly?" I looked up at him and he smiled at me like he knew what I was thinking. "I need your decision."

I looked between him and my stomach. Could Syn and I raise a child together? If we taught her how to use her powers could she be better than the both of us? I didn't know, but I knew that Syn along with everyone around us wouldn't let us do it alone.

With that, I took a deep breath and looked back at Adrian.

"I don't want to do it," I said finally.

"That's fine." He grinned. He removed the item from inside me and I sat up on the chair feeling even more emotional than I was before. I was excited, but scared for the future.

"I'm sorry for wasting your time," I said to him. "Syn told me you came all the way from Hell."

"No worries, Ms. Beverly. I owe Syn a lot more than a brief trip to another dimension," he joked. He removed the items off of me and when I sat up, he smiled at me once again."I'm glad you changed your mind. I know Syn can be...a dick most of the time, but he'll be a great father."

"I think so too." I smiled. "Thank you."

"Of course. I'll be calling the both of you in a few days when I figure out why your body isn't developing with the child," he said as he stood up. "Until then, if anything happens...Syn has my number."

As soon as he left the room, I changed back into my clothes as fast as I could and rushed out to the corridor. I walked out to the area where Syn was and tried to wipe the remaining tears on my face. He looked up at me from his seat and stood up. I walked in his direction and followed behind him in silence to the car. How would he react to this? He wanted me to keep the baby so he's happy, right? I wouldn't blame him if he didn't want to be with me anymore though.

I still felt lightheaded and emotional from today so involuntary tears slipped out, but I was happy for the most part. I got into the car and kept my hands in my lap as I thought about today.

It was a fucking mess. This WEEK was a mess. I wish I had listened to Syn more and I couldn't imagine what he was thinking about me. I'd probably hate me if I were him-

His hand landing on mine stopped my thoughts dead in their tracks and I looked at him in shock. He didn't say anything as he held my hand, but the silence was drowning me.

"I'm sorry," I whispered. That was the least he deserved from me after the week we had.

"I know, we'll just figure out what happ-"

"I didn't do it." I shot out.

His green eyes locked on mine in confusion and I shook my head. "I didn't get rid of the baby."

His eyes widened in surprise and I opened my mouth to explain. Before I could get out my words his hand reached behind my neck and he pulled my head to his. I immediately relaxed when I felt his soft lips on mine. I missed it more than I should have after this week.

He pulled away and searched my eyes. "What changed your mind? You seemed sure."

"Believe it or not but the baby did. She kept kicking me before I could answer the doctor," I admitted.

He looked down at my stomach and then back at me. "Do you mind if I...?"

I took his hand and placed it in a certain area she kept kicking and his eyes widened. "Woah."

Woah indeed.

"We're having a girl, by the way," I said.

He nodded. "I know. He told me," he said in response.

"When?"

"When you were in the restroom I was curious so I asked."

I nodded and bit my lip. "Why is she not growing?" I asked worriedly.

"I have no idea, but we'll find out."

I yawned and nodded.

"Tired?"

"A little bit. I don't feel well."

"Is everything okay?" He asked in a serious tone. His concern was adorable and I gently touched his hair.

"I think so."

"Okay Princess, let's get you home."

I closed my eyes and sunk into the seat as Syn laid his hand on my thigh. I relaxed in the car, feeling content as he started the car and began driving. Before I knew it, I let myself drift asleep, trying my best to ignore the discomfort in my stomach.

A few hours had passed since we returned from the clinic and Queen was still sleeping. I spent almost an hour while she was sleeping with my hand on her stomach. Every time I felt a kick I was surprised just as I was the first time.

I wouldn't have minded doing that for hours but I had to get work done. That said work had been on the back burner of my mind for hours as I sat in my office. I had all the paperwork from the club merger in front of me yet I couldn't gather up the mental strength to finish it.

I was thinking about baby names weirdly enough. I never imagined myself being the type of person to do it but I couldn't help it. Names ran left and right through my mind but none of them were good enough.

It was more intimidating than anything. What if I choose something she'd hate? I wouldn't want a daughter of mine hating any part of herself. If only children could choose their own names.

I sighed and leaned back into my chair. Queen and I hadn't told anybody the news yet. We wanted to enjoy the calm before the storm that was our friends and family.

I felt my phone buzzing in my pocket and took it out. My father's contact was displayed across the screen and I answered it.

"Hello?" He said.

"Hello."

"I have good news and bad news," he said cautiously.

"So do I," I admitted. He was the first person I wanted to know about the news. Granted he may tell everyone but I wanted to be the one to tell him about the baby.

"Oh!" He said in surprise. "You first."

I was about to tell him until another person I wanted to tell first came to mind. There was only one opportunity to be the first one to know so I decided I'd tell them both at the same time.

"Actually, can you come here?" I said. "I'll tell you once you arrive."

"Ugh, fine," he groaned. "Send me the address. I'll tell you my news in person as well."

"Okay."

We hung up the call and I immediately went to my contacts to call Xavier. He picked up quickly and I heard whispered giggles on the other side.

"Syn!" He yelled excitedly causing me to move the phone from my ear. "I've missed you so much."

"Anyways, I-"

"Aren't you going to say you've missed me too?"

"No," I said seriously and he laughed. "Xavier, I need you to come over."

"I'll be there."

I furrowed my brows. "Don't you want to ask why I need you to come?"

"Nope, I'll be there in ten."

He hung up the phone and I was left dumbfounded. I slowly put my phone away and shook my head. No matter how hard I tried, I would never understand Xavier. That was one thing that always irritated me. He could read me even when I couldn't do it myself, but I couldn't do the same with him. I didn't mind it most times, but sometimes I wished I could understand.

I stood up from my chair and left the office. Taking two steps at a time I rushed to my bedroom and saw Queen laying down with her phone in her hand. She hadn't noticed I was at the door so I just took the opportunity to observe her.

Her hair was in a messy bun and she was dressed comfortably in one of my sweatpants and a bra. She wasn't trying, but she was still the most beautiful girl in the world to me.

Queen jumped when she saw me but quickly replaced her startled features with a smile. "Hey."

I walked toward her and sat beside her on the bed. "Hey, Princess." I kissed her cheek and watched as she tried not to smile. She looked around nervously before looking back at me.

"Can we talk?" She asked. This couldn't be good, in everything I've read or watched, these things always led to a break-up.

"Sure."

"I want to explain last week," she said.

I nodded slowly and looked away from her. After our fight, we didn't talk until today and it was still a sore topic.

"Okay."

"I know it seemed like I didn't want to have the baby because of you and how you were made, but that wasn't it. You're amazing and super sweet, soul or not. I was just terrified, and honestly, a part of me maybe scared she'll end up more like me than you."

"If she is like you, she'll be wonderful, Queen. You have a huge heart and it's big enough for the both of us to pass onto her. Stop worrying," I said.

"I hurt you though," she replied in a low voice.

"It's okay, we both said some hurtful things."

She sighed and buried her hands in her hand. I furrowed my brows in confusion and laid my hand on her back. "What's wrong? I said it was okay."

"I still feel bad," she whispered. "You're so sweet to me and I don't deserve it."

"Come here," I said as I laid back on the bed. She looked at me reluctantly, but gave in and laid her head on my chest. "We'll be fine, Queen. We will just do better with arguments in the future."

"I'm going to make it up to you, Syn."

"There's no need, Princess. You're forgiven." She sighed with a discontent frown I shook my head as I gave in. "How would you like to make it up to me?"

"I can cook you food every day until we die?" She offered.

"If you're going to be the one cooking for me then you won't have to cook long to accomplish that."

"Stop," she said with a laugh and she gently hit me. "I'm a good cook, Syn."

"Well...it's edible. Sometimes."

She laughed and I was pleased to see she was no longer as sad as she was a few moments ago. She wrapped her arms around me tightly and sighed. "I love you."

"No."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I more than love you," she teased.

"Still not good enough," I said.

She looked up at me and grinned. "What do you want me to say then?"

"Say you're going to be with me forever," I whispered.

"I'm going to be with you forever," she repeated as I asked.

"And we'll have sex five times a day."

"Are you trying to kill me, Syn?"

"It wouldn't be the worst way to die, would it?"

Queen groaned and laughed at my words as another yawn left her. She slept all day, how was she still tired? "You're tired again?"

She rubbed her eyes. "I don't know," she said quietly. "I don't feel too great." Queen noticed the concern in my features and waved me away with her hand. "I'm okay, I probably just need some rest."

"I invited Xavier and Lucifer over to tell them the news," I said.

She laughed softly and shook her head. "I can't wait to see Lucifer's reaction," she yawned again. "Xavier is going to go insane."

"Princess, lay down," I said as I moved the covers.

"But don't you want me to come with you?" She asked as she closed her eyes. I watched as she slowly fell onto the bed and moved onto her side.

"It's okay, I'll tell you every-"

I was interrupted by the sounds of her soft snores and I shook my head. This couldn't be normal, but I'd speak to someone about it soon. Maybe my mother would know something about it. If not, and push comes to shove, I'll swallow my pride and ask Jess. I kissed Queen on the forehead and looked down at her exposed stomach. With a sigh, I positioned myself on the bed so I was right next to her stomach. I lay my hand on it and kissed it gently. "Take care of your mother, and sleep well babygirl."

I felt a gentle kick against my hand as I did earlier, but it still made me halt my movements. That was never going to not surprise me.

I tore myself away from Queen and forced myself out of the room before I decided to stay. Rushing down the stairs, I paced the living room in thought as to how I would reveal the news to Lucifer and Xavier. Unfortunately for me, my prep time had been cut short when I heard the doorbell ring. I walked to the front door and swung the door open. Xavier stormed past me and looked around quickly.

"What's going on?!"

"Relax..." I said. "It's nothing bad."

He let out a calming breath and grinned at me. "Great," he said, turning on his feet and walking straight towards my refrigerator. "Do you mind if I eat something? I'm starving," he said as he searched my fridge.

"You're already in there. Might as well," I muttered as I walked towards the kitchen. Planting myself on one of the stools, I watched as he pulled out milk and set it on the island. He moved to the cabinets and pulled out a bowl and spoon and then looked at me.

"Would you happen to have cereal?" He asked.

"You didn't want to ask me that before you pulled everything out?" I questioned dryly.

He shrugged. "I forgot."

I rolled my eyes and pointed to one of the cabinets by the fridge. He clapped his hands excitedly and walked towards it and opened it. When he noticed the items in the cabinet, he slowly turned to me with his eyes wide and mouth agape.

"Are you serious, Syn?"I looked at him in confusion until he completely turned around and I saw the box of cereal in his hands. "This is my favorite!"

"I'm aware."

"Awww."

My father popped out of thin air onto a chair beside me with a cup of whiskey in his hand, and we jumped. I took in his messy hair and crooked tie and frowned at him. He usually prided himself on his appearance. The need to be clean and meticulous was one that my father and I both shared. So to see him like this right now was flabbergasting, to say the least.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked.

He looked up at us and shook his head. "It looks like I have more bad news than I previously thought."

"What is it?" Xavier asked my father with a frown.

"Well," Lucifer started. "Syn, your mother hasn't taken me back."

I looked at him blankly and Xavier chuckled beside me. "The two of you will get back together tomorrow."

"I'm not sure about that," he murmured.

"Xavier is right," I said.

"You think so?"

"We know so."

He smiled and nodded as he began adjusting his hair and clothes. When he was finished he looked back at me. "Shall I tell my news first or would you like to go?"

"You can go first," I said. I still had no idea how to tell them the news so I'd take all the time I could get.

"Well bad news first, Lilith knows you and Queen are still together."

"How did she find out?" I asked in frustration.

"I don't know," he said with a shrug. ", but she suggested we write our wills. I've written mine just in case," he added with a pained laugh.

Xavier buried his head into his hands and sighed.

"What else is there?" I asked.

"The seers sense another shift in the earth coming," Lucifer said. "They believe it's Hell's fault, so I'm going to be under investigation."

The Seers were beings in Heaven that were gifted with visions from the future. Their main purpose was to maintain the balance between all the realms. If they were sensing something from Hell, there was only one possible reason why.

The baby.

The beings hadn't sensed anything in decades. The last time they did was when I was born. I was told that they almost killed me, but God allowed me to be spared for some reason. I didn't know before but now that I think about it, it was most likely because of his deal with Lilith.

I closed my eyes and sighed. "I know why you're under investigation."

"Why?" He asked in confusion as he looked up at me.

"Queen is pregnant."

Xavier's spoon dropped into the bowl with a loud clatter and my eyes snapped to him. He grinned as he pulled me into a large hug and I tensed. "I'm going to be an uncle!" He cheered.

I reluctantly pat his back and nodded. "Yeah, you are."

Over Xavier's shoulder, I saw my father who was deep in thought. As if feeling my eyes on him he looked up at me and shook his head. "What are we going to do about the Seers? If they find out about the baby...it can be killed." I felt the angry heat within my body and I clenched my fists at the thought of my daughter being hurt. Xavier let go of me as he noticed my anger and he laid a hand on my shoulder. "Syn, we're not going to let it happen." I nodded and tried to calm myself down but it wasn't working. I was pissed.

"We may want to figure out what we're going to do before the baby gets here. Which is probably not a long time," my dad said.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked.

"Nephilim children develop quickly in the womb," he said with a shrug as if I should've known this. "And you've been giving Queen souls, right?"

"What the hell are you talking about?"

Lucifer's mouth dropped and he looked between Xavier and me. "Is this baby still alive?"

"Yes," I said slowly.

"I don't know how much time you have left then. The baby is part succubus, hence the need for souls and it needs blood to grow. If Queen isn't feeding on either of those then how do you expect the baby to grow, let alone survive?"

"Are you a fucking doctor all of a sudden?" Xavier asked in shock.

"No...but I was there when Gen was pregnant with Syn. She wasn't showing for a few months and we had no idea why until we met with a warlock. He told us she needed to drink blood or you wouldn't grow."

My thoughts drifted to how Queen still wasn't showing and I shook my head. "Shit, the doctor said she was in a five-month stage, but she's not showing."

"Syn, that baby is starving. It's probably feeding on Queen if there's nothing else."

That would explain why she was so tired recently. It would make sense why she's been sleeping all day if the baby was the one literally using her energy as food. It was a creepy thought, but it was adorable at the same time.

My little monster.

"Where the hell would I get souls?"

"Are you seriously asking the King of Hell where to get souls?" My father smirked.
