The women of Silla were brought together in an arena. "Women! kneel on your knees and lower your gaze, the Magnanimous Leader of Baekje is shortly arriving," screamed a soldier as the other soldiers brought their spades front. The women, colliding with each other, eventually lowered themselves onto the ground.
A soldier held a woman's hand, dragged her front on her knees, and threw her onto the land. As she hit her face on the ground, Taehyung walked in. He stole everyone's breath when he snagged the knife that a soldier lifted forward and bent down to the poor lady.
Her eyes slowly raised to his as they took in his glorious face. She inhaled heavily when Taehyung traced the knife down her cheek to her neck. Splash. With a snap, he sliced her throat and stood up. "Oh, how loud can you be?" he asked, wiping his blood-stained face.
The women shrieked in terror, but no one had the guts to ask why he would do this. When he faced them, their wails stopped, and the air filled with a painful silence as they waited to see what else the wild mob would do to them.
"Where else could Silla's little warrior go without saving her people? Let's see if you would come to stop this massacre," Taehyung spoke at the crowd as he moved out of the gaming field, where the women were arrested in four long wooden slabs that joined to form a rectangle.
In this field, the Silla women used to stand outside goggling at and rooting for the men that played rough and bloody inside. Now it was different. They were inside the game field as the Silla men were left to watch their women run and hide from the hungry Baekje predators, who were about to prey on them under the radiant sunlight.
Taehyung calmly walked out of the field and watched as a soldier hit the bell. The women quickly ran backward, hands twitching, but faith was long gone. Whilst an older woman moved in front of a soldier. How crazy can it be?
A few women stopped and yelled at the crazy older woman as she pulled a blade from a soldier and cried, "Better die than be preyed on by these imbeciles." And with that said, she ended her life. The other women stood frozen as the soldiers groaned and yelled, "Let's get done with this!"
"Yes!" the other soldiers growled out, their voices louder than the thunderstorm. The soldiers looked back and bowed, waiting for Taehyung's approval. But Tae's mind was agitated by the scene that was happening far behind the warriors.
A woman brought her knife that she hid in her waist belt. She gave it to the woman near her with wobbling hands. "Kill me, please," she implored.
They were lost. What can they do? A lady fell to the ground as she screamed, "Mother!" She wailed as a few ladies held the lady and tried to make her stand. Knowing too well that the daughter would die a waste of death like her mother. Such a cruelty that can even break bones; if only was there a force that could save them.
A woman looked at another with her teary eyes and brought the knife to grant her death- "Enough!" Taehyung's voice screeched through the air.
"Prison them all!" He said as the Baekje soldiers released their spades, formed a line, and stood in an organized pattern. Not one Baekje-blooded man would dare do what the Arkae despised.
Taehyung was now considered a man of unlikeness. None could decrypt his thoughts. He has become erratic but most likely has gone crazy, no wonder. But would the soldiers dare judge him for it? The Silla people were too terrified to notice such a change in his behavior. All they could beseech was to beg someone to save them from this demon.
"So easy it is to push their buttons. If you are that ready to die, why live?" His voice mocked through the arena as he clutched his fist and walked towards the palace.
The King would kill me for it. Fuck! I don't fear him. I should have let the event happen and have waited for him, he thought.
"Yah! Taehyung!" He heard as he saw his dear mentor running towards him. The sun shone up straight on the land. Tae closed his eyes, looked up, and left a breath as he cracked his neck. This he sought as an approach to contain his rage. No way could he show it to him, not to the only man who guided Tae from childhood.
"Jin Hyung," Tae called out to him respectfully,
"You ought not to do this, Tae. Our subjects wouldn't be proud of such an act." Jin said,
"Hyung, she- she must be caught immediately! If not for last night's intervention, I would have believed her crafted by the hallucinations of my mind. She's real and I saw the fire in her eyes, Hyung. She dare taunt me-"
"Taehyung, keep your cool. Your soldiers are searching for her. She can never leave Silla in one piece. A future King should not possess the ideals of impatience. You have been preordained to guide millions of people. Don't give your father more reasons to give the throne to him." Jin said.
"Hyung, the throne is a prickling business. I don't desire the throne. For if I would like, I can make myself one. It is more covetous than thousands of seductive maidens. And even she could never persuade me."
"The throne will protect you, if you protect its authority, Taehyung. No one, not even your brother, can do something with such great excellence, but you. I have known you since birth, Tae. I know what you are capable of. Let me take care of this issue. You can't keep the woman of your dreams waiting forever, can you?"
"She's here?" Tae's lips lifted into a boxy smile as he chuckled and looked down.
"Make sure my soldiers get a place by the rivers to sleep. They must have enough rest, for it's about time we check on the East Silla."
"Yes, Your Highness! Now get going!" Jin said as Tae patted Jin's shoulder and whistled.
With a huge squeal, a beautiful white horse ran across the road. Tae ran behind it before turning back and giving Jin a nod. Tae soon caught the reins of the horse and leaped on it.
"Get going. Quick, Rinn," he whispered in its ears.
