Today was interesting to say the least, Vespera thinks to herself as she kicked off her heels after stepping foot into her more than decently sized apartment which was an upgrade from the one she used to live in.
Though, any apartment was an upgrade from that one in her opinion.
Plus this one also has better security as well. Meaning she felt alot more safer here and didn't have to worry about her sorry excuse of a mother nor her ex best friend being able to get in if they do find her.
She wanted to leave them both far in the past where they belonged but neither is backing down, her ex best friend moreso than her mom.
The girl was sorry, desperate to have her friend back after she crossed a line that she should have never crossed. And even though she didn't know all that Vespera's mom had done to her, she knew of some of the things so Vespera could just paint a picture of how her relationship is and was with the woman.
Was it bad enough to make the ex friend feel utterly sorry for the girl? Yes. She'd started staying over more and wanted to coddle the girl believing that she really deserved better.
So when Vespera's mother came to her, begging and pleading asking where her daughter was as she wanted to try and make amends, you would expect the girl to shun her. Or atleast tell her friend at the time that her mother somehow had found her and was asking about her and where she lived.
But no, instead she instantly felt sorry for the woman.
She felt sorry for the woman that abused and neglected her daughter for her own selfish needs and desires. She felt sorry for the woman that cared for no one but herself and it lead her to lose her friend.
Stupidly she had kept in contact with the woman, bringing her up more and more around Vespera who should have known that somethinh was off. But she had only brushed it off as her friend just wanting to know more about the woman.
A mistake she came to regret soon after.
Because within two days, she found her mother standing outside her door while she was banging against it, calling her ungrateful and pathetic. Yelling how she was just like her father- a father she had never even met- and had the gall to ask for money in the same breath.
Poor Vespera was on the verge of a full blown panick attack and was quick to hide in her room as all the abuse, pain and neglect came rushing back to her all at once.
She hid under the bed, like she used to do when she lived with her mother and wanted to hide from the beatings or the yelling. She had grabbed her phone and called the only person she had.
Called the only person that she trusted enough to even tell bits about her past too. And when she finally answered the call, Vespera broke down into sobs and tried explaining the situation as best as she could while trying to ignore all the yelling and her memories at once.
What she didn't expect was for her only friend to start apologizing to her.
Why? Why would she apologize?
And to her?
All the confusion and stress made her go limp and her loud cries slowly stopped while she was trying to listen to her own crying friend on the line.
She wasn't prepared for what she was sorry about. Nothing could have even prepared her for such a thing.
Vespera could only lay stiffly under her bed as she listened to her mother's yells and her only friend explaining why her mother knew where she lived.
Never had Vespera felt so betrayed.
Actually, she has and it was by her own mother. The woman whom was suppose to love her, care for her, protect her and raise her. Yet she didn't do any of that. It was Vespera's first heartbreak, her first betrayal and it had hurt her more than any beating probably had.
Seeing how other kids mothers treated them made her feel hallow, unloved and unwanted.
She never understood what she did to be treated like that by her mother. She held onto hope for way too long, thinking that one day her mom would change.
Only the woman never did, getting only worse and worse as the days went by. It was her betrayal and then she was once again betrayed by the girl she believed was her friend
Her best friend.
The girl that she shared too much with gave her mother her address, instantly believing the lies that were thrown her way. She knew that Vespera had went no contact with the woman and for good reason.
Not even a damn heads up was given to Vespera who practically feared her own mother.
Instead she had to relive the fear that she was forced to endue for so many years, causing a major setback.
She wanted to forgive her only friend, they were all she had afterall but the trust was gone. Therefore so was the friendship.
Thankfully she was able to move on, her ex friend however hadn't.
It was annoying as they still went to the same college but Vespera was always able to ditch her. The girl was starting to now remind her of her mother.
A loud sigh passes Vespera's lips as she curled up in a ball on her couch, fresh tears welling up in her eyes. She wanted to be left alone. Things were going good for her, she was doing great.
Her therapist saw great improvement in the girl, finally after so many sessions.
The older woman was glad for it but she was also scared as though Vespera had worked so hard to get this far, a simple run in with her mother could set her back horribly.
Vespera sniffled as she allowed her eyes to close, feeling as her breathing started to become harsh. Just the mere thoughts of her past could send her into a panick attack.
Sometimes her mind really seemed to hate her.
The sound of someone knocking on her door didn't even register in her mind as she shakily placed her hands against her ears, wanting to tune out her mother's yelling. She curled up even more as she almost could feel her hands on her, her tight grips and harsh slaps followed by her even harsher words.
"Stop it," she mutters softly as soft sobs passed her lips, her shaking growing by the second. The sound of her door being opened and closed along with the light footsteps not even being heard as her mind was too far gone.
Earlier today with that woman, it took so much in her to not just break down and sob her heart out. And she wasn't even sure why when the woman wasn't at all saying anything that her mother has.
The couch dipped slightly and that she felt and the scent of rosemary, vanilla, smoke and wood swallowed her whole.
Soon she was scooped up into familar strong arms and her head was laying against a chest. She instantly melted in his arms, her face burying in his chest as she clinged to him.
Adonis rubbed her back gently, his head rubbing against her own as his venom heart broke.
His girl always seemed to strong and so confident, even when she's hurting. He hated it. He hated when she tried to hide her pain. All he wanted to was be there for her, to hold her and let her know it's all going to be okay.
He knew nothing of her mother or her ex best friend and it wasn't because she didn't trust him but because she didn't want him to leave. She didn't want to lose him.
But with the way he was holding her and comforting her without asking any sort of questions made it hard not to confide in him. So that's what she's do.
"I'm right here, love." The male mutters gruffly, his voice soothing the woman in his arms. "I'm not going anywhere," he added as if he knew she needed to hear that.
"Why don't you just stay here?" Aro asks the oddly tired bronzed hair male whom stood before him.
Edward stared at the male while Marcus and Caius sat boredly. Both wanted him dead but Aro didn't, either because of his father or because of his gift.
The mindreader looked around, hoping to find the other King but he was sadly nowhere to be seen.
He wondered why but he knew that the male didn't like him nor his family at all. Why? He had no idea.
"Will you kill me or not?" He asks Aro in slight annoyance causing the male to let out out a sigh. "We would but Aro would not allow us too for some reason," Caius states boredly.
Aro casted a glare into the blond male's direction but it was ignored. "Well this is a waste of time, I'll be with my mate if I am needed." Caius mutters as he got up from his seat and uses his vampirc speed to leave the throne room.
"I too shall leave," Marcus stated while he got up. "You have nothing to do dear brother," Aro grits out, annoyed at the fact that they were just leaving him to deal with this. "Oh but I do, must look for my mate, get out of the castle and such." The slightly taller male mutters.
He truly didn't want to be in her for a conversation that will go nowhere. It was truly a waste of time like Caius had said.
If only I found my mate like Adonis did, I would also barely be at this castle too, he thinks as he left the room while Edward knew why Adonis was barely here now.
But then again, he was ever barely here from what Carlisle said about the male. He's just gone more now it seemed and he was left wondering who was Adonis' mate. Who was cursed to be the mate of the Adonis? The most feared Kings of the Volturi.
Hopefully they weren't human as he and Carlisle believed that Adonis' heart had disppeared the moment he was turned.
Meanwhile the so called heartless man was filled with rage after his mate had opened up about her past but he didn't let it show.
Instead he was comforting her, kissing her head and holding her tightly to his chest as he muttered sweet words into her ear.
He was going to kill that woman.
But would Vespera be okay with that??
"Don't leave me please," Vespera asked softly as she gazes up at the male with teary doe eyes.
Adonis felt as his heart crumbles in his chest, his blood red eyes welling up with venom as he slowly nodded his head. "I won't love," he says softly. This was truly the most open she has ever been. It was a side to her that he didn't know existed.
He felt as her entire figure melted into his arms at his words and a soft smile tugged at his lips.
All this time she took care of him and his needs, now it was his turn to take care of her and not money wise.
"Adonis?" Vespera calls out softly as her head rested against his chest while she had her lips pursed. "Yeah, my darling?" He asks softly as he glances down at her just as she looks up at him.
She felt so small, so safe and she adored it. Never will she be submissive but this is fine, more than fine actually.
"I was suppose to ask you this already," she sighs out. "But I keep forgetting for some reason," she adds causing Adonis to furrow his brows. "Why doesn't your heart beat?" She asks and instantly the male stiffened as she just stared at him, awaiting his answer.
Something like this should scare her, it really should and she should be running the other way. But she didn't find it to be as alarming as she should.
"U-uh," the male stuttered out while he looked away from her unsure what he'll say. Scared that she'll run away. "Baby," Vespera coo's out as she cups his cheeks, making him look back at her. "If you're not ready to tell me yet then that's fine," she mutters and Adonis felt as his tense shoulders relax slightly at her words.
She wasn't rushing him to answer, she's giving him time even when she knows that something is wrong.
Oh how he adores her. "I'm not human," he grumbles out as he cleared his throat. "I know that boy, what are you?" Vespera asks bluntly causing him to blink at that in surprise.
"What? I don't meet alot of humans that don't have heartbeats," Vespera states as she arches a brow making the male give her a sheepish look.
