*✿❀🌼🍀❀✿ Chapter 37
You and Melissa were sitting in the seats more to the front with Adalyn next to the other table. The excitement was buzzing in the conference room.
Your eyes were fixed on the four people that were called out and stood behind the HR manager. The four individuals were introduced as reps for their departments.
You furrowed your brows and inwardly wondered in which department you might end up. As you didn't anticipate being part of the Seoul interns. Melissa's eyes were focused, and you could see the wheels turn in her mind. She already made up her mind to strive and get a permanent position here at this company.
Netmarble is one of the top gaming companies in the world, but you wanted to get a gaming job at their American-based counterpart. Your eyes turned back to the speaker. He was very eloquent in English; he was very tall with huge glasses. He spoke about Netmarble's history, its more values, and its mission. About their gaming portfolio, their top selling games on the mobile markets as well as their recent and upcoming projects. The interns looked all very excited to be part of this vibrant and highly creative atmosphere. He emphasizes the companies of commitment to creating, their teamwork, and their innovation.
Just then the HR manager introduced you to a guy who is the intern liaison. He looked like a foreigner. His dirty blondebrown hair was a little long and wavy, part if it was in a man bun, he was seriously hot which made the foreigners in the room swoon because he had a huge friendly smile on his face.
His face seemed animated, and you knew this guy must be very popular because of the whistles he got from staff members who stood at the walls, clapping and yelling his name.
Melissa shot you a cheeky grin, "Well, well...looks like he’s the latest flavor of the month!" Melissa whispered.
So, this guy was introduced as Calvin Sykes. He was a very cheerful and energetic guy.
Adalyn grinned as she told Melissa in a soft tone," He is an American whose family emigrated when he was 15 years. He completed his high school as well as university in Seoul. He can also speak Korean fluently." She informed you.
Melissa raised her brows."How on earth do you know?"
Adalyns' olive green eyes sparkle,"This is my second time interning here. I was super hyped up that I got another chance. Last year was my third year, and the intern program is actually a very exclusive closed internship, and you need to have access to the application site by who you know." She smirks.
You and Melissa chuckled, didn't you know that. Your friend's father accidentally found out from his company CEO about Netmarble's close internship, and you luckily got the info to get into the site. Now you understood why it was exclusive; it was one of the most sought-after internships that even gave foreign gaming final-year students a fully paid trip to intern in all global branches. It was surely a very rich company.
You didn't even know what the company's name was until you got selected.
Adalyn grinned, "Yeah, last year there were 20,000 global internship applicants, and only 600 were chosen for their ten global branches. This year 800 applicants were successful which 40 global and local applicants were selected for Seoul. We are very fortunate. Last year, 10 lucky applicants received permanent employment." She spilled the tea on the inner workings of the company.
Melissa looked flabbergasted."Wow!"
Just then you heard hand clapping; you were so engaged in your whispering chat that you almost missed what this Calvin was saying.
He cleared his throat again, exaggerated, "Again...welcome our brave warriors of Netmarble Intern Academy! I hope you understand the different departments and your chosen mentors... Now you guys have officially embarked on the rat race of the rise of your coffee consumption. Be rest assured your gaming skills will be questioned by your loving supervisors, and you will be tested by your ability to sit through meetings while nodding convincingly. So, congratulations for being the chosen vessels of Net. Corp."
The crowd erupted in laughter as you simply grinned while Melissa bellowed, "Yo, you go boy!" The crowd nearby erupted into giggles as Calvin's gaze dramatically zeroed in on your table, like a hawk spotting its next meal. He smirks as he winks at her. His eyes briefly met yours, then roamed over the excited audience.
Calvin was very entertaining, and you started to like being here as your nerves quickly started to evaporate. "...so don't panic, I, Calvin, will be your friendly neighborhood go-to intern liaison guy... I'm also known as the guy who tries to answer all your questions by secretly googling them..." he chuckled as the audience laughed again.
His humor was infectious, and you could sense that this guy knows how to charm people. "Okay, let me give you a quick overview of what your day will look like. I hope all of you received your welcoming introductory folder with all the information and intern activities that will leave you filled for the two months... At 8:00 am, you all entered this magnificent skyscraper with your eyes full of hope and your tummies filled with convenience store snacks. At 9:30 am, you will meet your mentors and supervisors. They will either inspire you or terrify you or both. At 10am it will be orientation—where we yell you important rules like, Don't spill coffee on the servers and Never challenge our lead game designer Mr. Kang to a game of Street Fighter. He hadn't lost since 2002."
You smirk as you look at Melissa; she is tough to beat, and you know if Melissa senses the exhilarating challenge, she will take it on.
Calvin was still busy moving you your day's expectations...at 11:00-12:30 you'll be divided in your departments and receive your assignments. At 12:30-1:30, lunch where you will bond with fellow interns where you'll engage in philosophical questions like, "Are mobile games taking over the world? At 1:30-5:30: more work from your supervisors, occasional snack time, and maybe a secret gaming session—of which we won't officially acknowledge. So , interns we have four departments where you'll find yourself in based on your aptitude testing and skills set. 1. Game Design and programming department, which will be led by Mr. Park at the back of me—he swears that he coded his first game on a napkin when he was six years old...so if you love crafting worlds and mechanics, this will be your battlefield." He smirked and gestured to a little chubby Korean guy with huge Harry Potter glasses and wild black curly hair; he smirked and waved to the small crowd of interns who whistled and gave him huge excited yells.
Melissa chuckled softly, "Why does he kind of look like an Asian Benny Blanco?"---"
You chuckle lightly while giving her shoulder a playful nudge, "Oh come on, Mel, cut it out!" She can not help but let out a little chuckle next to Adalyn.
Calvin clears his throat after a little applause. "Nr. 2, we have the Art and Animation, and it's run by the beautiful lady on the right, Ms. Kim. She has a sharp eye for detail because she once spotted a missing pixel in a trailer at 2am. So if you enjoy making characters epic, welcome to the club." She also got a huge applause.
She was rocking a septum piercing, a lip ring, and eyebrow piercings like a true trendsetter! With her wild punky purple-pink hair, she could easily be mistaken for a character straight out of a manga. Talk about a style that screams, "I dare you to notice me!" Her entire vibe was like a video game character who decided to join a punk rock band in a neon-lit dystopia. She was in her early thirties.
Calvin smiled at her as she just good-naturedly rolled her eyes, "Nr. 3, we have the marketing and community department managed by Mr. Choi, who can turn a viral sensation. Faster than you can holler, 'patch update.' So, if you want to learn how to make gamers excited or furious about a new release, this will be your new home."
Mr. Choi waved to the crowd. He was tall and in his mid-thirties.
Calvin snickered as he carried on, ---Nr. four is the Quality Assurance known as QA—this department is managed by Ms. Yoon, who has broken every game she ever tested ...on purpose. So if you enjoy finding glitches and making developers cry, join QA!" The crowd started to laugh as Calvin gestured to a Korean local girl with long black hair with platinum tips. She was gorgeous in her tight skinny jeans and blue striped shirt; she wore tall boots, and you saw how she smirked flirtatiously in Calvin's direction.
You raised your eyebrow and wondered if there was something brewing under those flirty looks she gave the sexy Calvin.
Adalyn could not help but chuckle as she leant in to whisper to you and Melissa, "If you have got a crush on Calvin, you might want to let that dream float away because Yoon Soo Hee dated him back in their uni days, and she still acts like she owns him!" You and Melissa gave each other an amused look.
"Oh really?" Melissa grinned, and you let out a dramatic groan, praying that she will not unleash her inner warlord in this peaceful realm.
You could not help but chuckle at her pouting lips, "Oh come on, Mel, do not even think about it! I don't want us to have people on our radar. I can't afford it now?" You whisper in her ears.
Melissa let out a laugh, "Oh, Ruby, lighten up! A sprinkle of drama never hurt anyone...and let us be honest, he is a total snack!" Look at that man bun. Oh come on, cut me some slack! I'm Tarnished." You just shook your head.
Calvin really stepped in it by giving a cheeky wink to the flirty Melissa; she is definitely got him on the menu for breakfast! Melissa was kind of a player due to her Tarnished status. Your eyes darted back as you noticed the subtle smirks Calvin was giving Ms. Yoon.
Calvin looked over the crowd and lifted his arms. "Are there any desperate questions you guys would want to know? One at a time, please, and just state your name and country, then shoot!" His smile was so infectious.
A girl lifted up her hands; she had long, dirty blond hair in a high ponytail. Calvin nodded at her when she smiled," Hi Calvin, I'm Laura from France. I want to know, will we get to play games all day?" Her friends snicker next to her.
Calvin nodded, "Yes, but only if you are in the QA department. The rest of you will be making games, but in the name of 'testing.'. "
Another intern stood up with her arm up; she had a short black bob. "Hey Calvin, I'm Mikoto from Japan. Do we get free skins as employees?" The audience started to clap.
Calvin softly chuckle,"Ah, the most important question asked. Yes, you do get discounts on certain free skins but no, we cannot give you unlimited in-game currency. Just trust me we've asked."
Another guy with black hair that falls staight over his eyes, he himself looked like an anime character, "Hi, I'm Vinash from India. What if we accidentally delete something important?"
Calvin grinned, "Yeah an intern accidentally wiped out our entire bug report database few years ago...so please just don't do that...always triple check before pressing the delete button." The crowd laughs.
Then out of nowhere, Melissa decides to give her arm a little workout! Your eyes widen at her confidence. Melissa could not help but chuckle as Calvin picked her hand.
She stood up like a feline, throwing her long, straight ,silky black hair across her shoulder and smiling. Melissa knows she's stunning. You felt shivers on your back as all eyes turned to your friend. You discreetly see how some of the guys eyes widen at Melissa's striking beauty. Few cat calls emerged. You were staring at the ground like it was the most fascinating thing since sliced bread.
Melissa just smirked, fully aware that her charm and looks could probably make a statue blush."Oh, hi Calve...I'm Melissa from Australia...So what's the best way to impress our supervisors?" She smirked sweetly as your eyes discreetly moved to Ms. Yoon, who looked at Melissa with narrowed eyes and seemed unimpressed that Melissa just gave Calvin a little nickname. 'Calve' Adalyn was giggling softly.
Calvin's eyes sparkled with mischief as he looked at Melissa, "Well, that’s a piece of cake! Ask a lot of questions, show your enthusiasm and even before you asked bring them coffee...that is an instant promotion move...so that's it everyone. I know you excited, some of you are nervous, some already wondered about when you're going to get your first paycheck to buy some Korean BBQ for your friends. But you hear to because you love games, so we want you to make the best ones , be bold, creative and don't be afraid to break things ...but not everything...and now its time to be placed in your departments. Good luck," he laughs.
The crowd started to clap enthusiastically as you and Melissa placed your notebooks and diaries in your backpack. Every department will get ten interns. The QA, Marketing, and Art/Animation interns were placed, and they moved out of the room, high-fiving their new friends.
You, Melissa, and Adalyn with her friend she made today from Greece were placed in the Game Design and Programming department. You were waiting for Mr Park your mentor and Supervisor to escort you to his department. You were so excited that you and Melissa were placed together in your preferred department.
Mr Park was conversing with Calvin. You were chatting with your new friends when your attention was drawn to the two guys.
Calvin clears his throat, "Design team, Mr Park will be with you soon, he needs to go to the 20th floor for some unforseen business. So, I'll be escorting you to your department as your tour guide..." he laughed as he notice the sudden shift of excitement under the girls.
Melissa grinned, "Cool!"
Calvin smiles and looks at the ten interns. "So quickly introduce yourselves, and then we'll take the stairs to the fifth floor."
Everyone was introducing themselves. It was you and Melissa from Australia, Adalyn from Scotland, Marcos from Greece- a cute lanky guy with glasses, Vinash from India, Minju from Busan, Korea, a very cocky boy, Tyler from the USA , a boy from Thailand and two other girls from Italy and Denmark.
On your way out, you keep yourself at the back as Melissa and Minju were openly flirtatious with Calvin. You constantly find Calvin's eyes fleetingly on you. You can't deny that he was hot with ocean blue eyes. You were listening half-heartedly to the conversations near you as your mind drifted to your boyfriend that is in the USA.
You wondered what the group was up to and if Jimin had kept your new relationship status secret. You saw you had a text notification and your eyes widen. It was your cute stud muffin. You grinned by yourself as you reminisced how he will react to your new blonde look. You are both blonde now.
Gosh, you were so busy this morning and reading his text made you missed him like crazy.
Calvin looked super hyped up as he show you the different offices around you. You walked passed the huge cafeteria area and you spot a large buffet sections and you can't wait to sample local food. Than you saw the other groups interns entering the QA section. The mentor winked at Calvin as you passed their area.
When you got to the Programming and Design department, you were blown away by the huge screens on workstations and numerous posters of games you even tested and reviewed. Then you saw a vast amount of figurines of popular games. You and Melissa's eyes were wide in awe. There were even a section with sofa seats where gamers can play games.
Calvin grinned at the fresh-faced interns; one girl in the office ran up to him and gave him a fresh iced coffee. Oh wow! Calvin must be a real big shot here. He then steps into the section of the office where multple programmers were glued to the screen; they looked intensely focused.
Calvin's voice was loud and cheery. ,"Alright, everybody! Welcome to the heart of game development. The place that is also widely known as the 'Place of the sleep-deprived.'.
Some of the programmers looked up and grin, some nodded and the others are too engaged in the screens infront of them.
Your mind was reeling as you can already see yourself in their shoes. But as you heard, it is difficult to get a position in this company unless you are part of the highly talented and unique few.
Calvin turned to them with dramatic flair, "Now, most of you might think that the work of a programmer is just to type away on keyboards, constantly coding magical spells that make our games run flawlessly. Well, you're kinda right. But you need to realised behind every smooth animation, every response movement of a character , even the perfect timed explosion, there is probably a programmer who spent maybe 12 hours figuring out why the NPC keep running into a wall or doesn't seemed to find the door or pick up the wrong weapon"
You all move with him through the rows when you get to a programmer with wild, straight brown hair, very small eyes behind huge glasses, and a huge pout on his lips as he is hunched over three monitors, rapidly scrolling through lines that look like codes.
Your eyes caught a sticky note on one of the monitors that said, 'Fix. this. now!' You smirk as you adjust your black-rimmed glasses over your freckled nose.
Calvin grinned as he gestured to the programmer, "Now that is Mr. Kim here. Right now he's trying to fix a bug that makes the dragon in our RPG moonwalk instead of it flying. Do you think it's a problem? Of course it's a yes, even if it's hilarious."
Mr. Kim turned, grinned, and gave Calvin a thumbs up. Calvin smirks and then takes a sip of his drink.
"Guys, when you look around this office space, you can see a very different setup. Triple monitors, one for coding, one for running the game, and er... one for research purposes.
Melissa nudged you as she gestured to a nearby screen, "Look at the YouTube video...Top 10 game fails," she softly snickered. You just pursed your lips not to laugh and gained unnecessary attention.
You whispered back, "I guess they secretly watch streams...e-sports are huge in Asia."
Calvin was telling you about the mechanical keyboard, showing you the Coffee station near the huge windows with coffee cups and energy drinks laid up.
He smiled, "This is the fuel that keeps this department running; you rarely see a programmer without one."
The little group looked impressed and ready to start their day. You moved further down, but then Melissa chuckled and looked at Calvin, showing him a sticky note on one monitor.
"Calvin why does that sticky note says'DOOM'?" everyone's eyes were glued. Most monitors spot some strange sticky notes on them.
Calvin nod solemnly, "That means they've encountered a truly terrifying bug . And we don't speak of those.Programmers spend most of their time fixing bugs, they write scripts, or having debates about if a game engin is realistic enough. And their natural enemy is -guess The Game Designers'.
As the interns gasped.A programmer at the back gasped loudly; a pixie blue-haired girl with neon pink earphones around her neck overheard, and her eyes were hidden behind colorful pink visors. "Ugh, Calvin…we love designers...but also, no!" She gave him a shooting sign.
You smirk. It looks like a typical gamer girl. The interns laugh as she gave you all a thumbs up and carry on with her job. As the interns gasped, you smirk cause you and Melissa are the game programmers. Samantha is a design major as well as Janice.
Adalyn giggled," That's me!" Melissa nudged her shoulders.
Calvin smiled, "Don't worry, it's all love and teamwork here. Trust me—when a designer walks in and says, Hey, can we just add a flying mechanic or new fighting move at the last minute? you might hear a programmer's soul leave their body."
Now you couldn't help but snort loudly. You can imagine the frustration of the programmers. Especially at uni, if you worked on the final assignments and you were teamed up with designer majors, they could never make up their minds.
Calvin smiles as he notices your flustered face. His eyes blink a few seconds when he notices you again. Something undefined flashes across his face, but he masks it quickly. With a little awkward clearing of his throat he turned to the happy interns who looked mesmerized at the monitors as programmers worked.
Calvin smile,"Er...any questions?"
Vinash, the cutie from India, snorts, "How do you know if a programmer is in deep work and shouldn't be disturbed?"
Calvin nodded and looked at his intern lanyard. "Great question...Vinash. You can just look at their posture; if they lean in, almost eyes and their whole body on the monitor screen, squinting eyes, and you hear them mumbling things like, 'Oh dear, why is this happening? 'I say—don't engage. Just quietly step back or slide a coffee over on their desk and back away." More laughs follow.
The skinny intern from Greece, Marcos, hesitantly lifts his hand. "Er, Clavin, just a question. Can programmers play the game they are working on?" Everyone's attention is fixed on Calvin.
He nodded, "Most definitely, but it's more like, "Oh no, let me play again to see if the game crashes. Fun," he chuckled.
Then Calvin looked to all of you, but his eyes fix a little longer on you, which makes you a little jittery," So, if you want to impress a programmer , find a bug, report it properly, and you get bonus points if you suggest how to fix it. You'll gain instant respect that might get you that coverted position in our company."
You all nod as Calvin signed, "Well, programmers and design interns, this is it. Soak it in. This is your team for the two-month duration. This place is where all the magic and sufferings happened. But remember in the end when the game finally works, and the players around the world are enjoying it. This is the team that made it possible. So if you see a programmer today, just give them a friendly nod of appreciation ...or pass them an extra latte."
All the interns started to clap. They really love Calvin's orientation hour. Just then your supervisor entered the huge glass doors and gave Calvin a bow and handshake for his willingness to take over for a while.
Calvin just nodded and smiled. Then your supervisor took out a small notice board and placed each intern around at the empty workstation next to a programmer or at the ajacent designing office.
You sighed happily when you were placed near the coffee station with the blue haired girl. Adalyn, Marcos and three others where placed in the very vibrant, colourful designing section. You all waved at them when they move away to their awaiting mentors.
Melissa was placed with the eccentric Mr Kim. She just gave you a eye roll which you know that Mr Kim don't know what is waiting for him. She greet you with a quick hug. She was stationed near the glass doors. You inhaled deeply as you nodded to Calvin and the supervisors and strolled to where the blue-haired girl mentor was waiting for you with a wide smile.
When you reached her, you were surprised that she was actually a Korean girl. "Heya, my name is Lee Sae-Ron... I'm actually Korean-born, but I'm from Canada. I'll be your official mentor for the few weeks you'll be suffering with us...I'm usually very chill, so feel free to ask me anything." She stated with a friendly nod.
You were mesmerized with her flawless, glass skin. She was a breath of fresh air and so unbothered. She gestured to the open seat with a monitor," That's your workstation...love your hair," she smirked as she pointed to your newly blonde stresses.
You smile brightly, your nerves evaporated in the air." Thank you for your welcoming attitude. I'm Rubina Wallace...from Australia," you softly state.
You took your backpack and placed it under your table. You blew out your breath as you peered at the huge monitor in front of you. It was the most recent model. This is the real thing, not the stuff you used at uni. Your heart started to race as excitement bubbled inside of you.
Sae-Ron took out a white box with new visors and hand it over to you,"Here...what we are doing, we are looking for a bug in this game. The game protagonist vanish randomly and we need to fix it. I've been looking at some of the coding data...but I'm still at lost."
Your furrowed your brows,"Okay...great."
Sae-ron grinned, "Don't worry...your monitors are already set up with all the programming software that you will need. You just need to set up your email data...okay let me quickly help you with that because some programmes might be in Korean..."
You were so grateful that you've been placed with Sae-ron as you worked on the keyboard; she told you more about herself.
She's 27 years old but looked 20. Three years your senior. She and her Korean parents emigrated to Canada when she was three years old, but they came back to Korea when her dad got a very high-profile executive post at Hyundai and her mom owned a boutique at the mall. She has two siblings, an older brother and a younger sister in high school, and they live in Gangnam, but she just bought her own apartment near the company. She has a Vietnamese soulmate, who is a prosecutor, and they are red-gold married.
You just briefly told her about your family dynamics and uni and that you are Tarnished and that you and Melissa are best college buddies.
She explains the new game they've been working on and that it was filled with bugs, which each member of the department must try and fix a section.
Sae-ron sighed," It's sometimes so strenuous, especially when it's reporting time. It's almost lunchtime—fun time. Don't forget to download the new games. Calvin left all of the interns a little gift, a small mobile game console, to keep you entertained during your free time."
Your eyes widen. "Oh wow...that's so cool. Thanks. I'll work hard to help you fix the bug. Are you coming to lunch?"
Sae-ron sighed and leaned back on her chair. "Nah...the cafeteria will be overflowing with new interns from every department. So go and connect with them..."
Now and then you and Melissa would make eye contact, and she would just roll her eyes and give her mentor a side eye. You can't wait to sit and converse with your new friends.
This internship seems very interesting. So far nobody has connected you with the Esquire girl. It seems it was only gamers here, which made you feel so much more relaxed, but you won't put your guard down. You never know.
Suddenly, amid the click-clacks of numerous keyboards, you sensed a buzz. You suddenly became aware of excitement around you. It was already lunchtime. Melissa and Adalyn were rushing to you, waving at a smiling Sae-ron.
Melissa in a hurried tone, "Come, Ruby! The lines might be long at the buffet. You heard it's free!"
Adalyn was dancing on her heels already hyped up." Grab your bag quickly..." You grinned as you waved at Sae-Ron, who just smiled.
You grabbed your bag under the table and linked arms with the two girls, who dragged you out of the glass double doors. More interns surrounded the hallways. There was a palpable buzz in the departments.
When you reached the cafeteria, the inaudible chatting was everywhere. Almost all the tables were filled with interns and staff members.
Melissa's eyes lit up." Oh gosh, there's a table open by the window. Come, guys! Two staff members just left."
Adalyn quickly sprinted to secure the table and placed her bag on the table. It was a table of six. You just laughed as you moved quickly and sat them.
You exhale,"Oh wow! Just in time."
Melissa looked around the bustling cafeteria. The excitement among the new interns could be felt. Just then Adalyn lifts her arms as she waves at someone.
You and Melissa's eyes followed her gaze. It was Vinash, Marcos, and another girl in your intern group you don't know.
Adalyn grinned, "You don't mind if they sit with us. Marcos and Mikoto are with me in designing. They are very lovely. Mikoto can speak English fairly well."
You both shook your heads, indicating it's okay.
Melissa smirked, "The more the merrier..."
The three new tablemates had trays filled with their food; the relief on their faces was matchless.
Vinash grinned; his Indian accent was so adorable, "Oh, thank you. We were ready to go and sat in the corner on the carpet."
Mikoto smiled and bowed. "Thank you, guys...so nice of you."
Adalyn grinned," We are all one team and department. Hmm the food looks delicious."
Vinash smile as he pick up his chop sticks," Don't worry they refill the meat dishes every 15 minutes depending on the popularity. Go quickly there are five lines. You just chose and the ladies will fill your trays. But tell them otherwise they'll give you huge portions."
Adalyn chuckled, "I see mini pizza—lovely. Come on, girls, let's go."
You, Adalyn and Melissa quickly jumped up and follow some if the interns that just came in. The food aroma filled the whole area, and you could feel your stomach protest. You haven't even answered all your text messages. You'll talk to Jimin privately when you back at home.
Becky was attending her Korean language classes and you and Melissa will only have time to attend it on Fridays/Saturdays. The interns of the Design/Programming department will get off by noon on Fridays.
You stood behind Melissa and Adalyn who talked about their mentors. You were scrolling down your phone, when two excited girls came up to your group.
They were local Korean interns, "Hey guys...welcome to Seoul." They bow excitedly and Melissa and Adalyn bow politely and greeted with a grin.
You were still texting Becky and not notice the two girls. They were overly bubbly,"Er my name is ...Seo Jinyoung and this is Lee Haerin. Were interns from Seoul. And you are..." they introduced themselves.
"Oh I'm Adalyn from Scotland and this is Melissa and Ruby from Australia...please to meet you." You heard the giddy giggles as you looked up; your eyes widened, and you bowed to accept their friendly introductions.
The two girls looked super giddy as you smiled up to them. You wonder if all Koreans are so super friendly to foreigners. The one named Jinyoung had long straight brown hair with flawless skin which you came to envy. Just like Jimins smooth skin. The other, Haerin has wild black curls with silver framed glasses. She was very tiny against the tall Jinyoung, but gosh they were so skinny.
Jinyoung smile," You're so pretty." She gushed when her eyes flickered from Melissa and Adalyn and settled on you. You all just smirk and thank the girl.
Haerin laugh,"Isn't it exciting. We got to meet new friends from around the globe."
You just nod as you moved a little on in the line. Jinyoung suddenly pulled Haerins' arm," It was great meeting fellow interns. We are at QA. We hope to see you again. Haerin and I actually wants dessert...so see yah! " they giggled as they rush to the dessert and sweet treats buffet area.
Melissa snort," That was so quick and random---" But you were not so sure as you saw the two girls whispered conspiratorial close to each other's as they turn now and then to look at you. You don't know why you feel that some of the girls 'recognized' you. That will be a real bummer.
Meanwhile. ..
The two girls joined three other cute girls at the dessert station. They were conversing in Korean in a whispering tone.
Haerin nodded," It's true, guys... I think that is Jimins' Red from Australia. She was introduced as Ruby from Australia. We're telling you guys...it's Jimin's soulmate!"
The other girl, named Moka, peeked again at the group where they were getting their food. Moka shook her head," She doesn't look like her though."
Jinyoung gave them a deadpan look," Are you blind. Just because her hair is blonde doesn't mean it can't be her. Her eyes are honey brown behind her glasses. I'm telling you guys she is Red."
Haerin smirk," She is from Australia and even with those sutle changes isn't it most likely that she can be a redhead. She has lots of freckles on her nose and cheeks.ARMY are eagle eyed."
The other friend with a short Bob style, still look hesitant to believe," If she knows her face was plastered all over social media and in our tabloids why would she willingly come to Seoul?"
Haerin rolled her eyes, "Hello...she's an intern. Esquire said she was a gaming student at the University of Technology in Sydney. I researched that university, and they have a game programming faculty. We are right, guys---"
Moka's eyes were wide when she saw 'Red' laughing with her friends at a table by the window. "I need a copy of that magazine. Now!"
She looked frantic as she started to fan herself. If Jimin's girl is here, ARMY is going to flip, and the online frenzy will start again. What if mobs come to Netmarble?
"See, the resemblance is uncanny. I saw the same platinum Tiffany ring on her forefinger. I'm telling you girls, our Mochi had the same one that he constantly wore. It's a twin ring. Even Taekook wore those friendship rings." Haerin states, excitement in her voice.
They all giggle with renewed excitement as they sit them at a table. If Red is here with them...toxic ARMY fans as well as antis will start harnessing the poor girl if it is proven true.
Most of the tables where the staff sat previously were open. Some of the interns were eagerly playing the games that were uploaded on mobile game devices.
...
From where you sat you felt a sudden chill run up your spine wondering if being in Seoul was the worse decision you're ever forced to made.
A/n : Internship is in full swing.
Thank you to all the Jimin stans that hasn't abandoned this book. I hoped you've enjoy the extra long chapter. For all the true gamers out there I hope I did you justice with the gaming world research.
Thank you to all the readers, voters and commenters.
