Chapter Twelve: Reveal
Beware, it is near.
--×☆×--
The two of them walked up the stairs, and the varsity jacket girl had finally let go of Callisthenes, giving him a little personal space. However, she was holding his hand, which made him feel somewhat uncomfortable. While they walked up, he decided to think about what had happened on the court.
(Just how was I able to dodge that one dodgeball so well...?) He thought calmly. (It should have hit me but... I ran away. But how did I get so fast?) He shook his head, his entire conscious was focused on his thoughts.
(Am I the Flash or something? No way, I could never be-) He suddenly took a wrong step, and braced himself for the hard impact of falling down the stairs, but somebody quickly grabbed him before he could fall.
He looked up at whoever had caught him, happily expecting it to be Nari or a friend. But almost grimaced when he realized it the perverted, varsity jacket girl who wanted to "warn him" about something.
"You need to be more careful, C-Oppa-senpai." She said with a cutesy tone, letting him straighten himself out.
He nodded and hummed uncomfortably at her as a thank you; then asking her: "By the way, I never got to ask who you were."
The girl spun her head around, an overjoyed and unusual expression facing back at him. "Really? Really really? Okay- I'm sorry, I'm just- so full of haengbog right now since you asked me that!!"
Callisthenes immediately felt a pang of regret fall onto his chest right after she responded, but he quickly reminded himself that this was for the sake of information.
"By the way, Haengbog means happiness in korean!! But anyways- hoo... Sorry got a little excited there!" She said. "My name is Yanny Smithington, a true koreaboo! But if you want, you can call me Yanny-chan♥" Yanny introduced herself cheerfully, putting her arms behind her back and winking.
He cringed at her off-putting introduction, but proceeded to introduce himself as well. "Okay... Yanny. Nice to meet you, I am Callisthenes, please don't call me Appa-senpai anymore. Let's head to the roof, I need to go home soon."
Yanny made a disappointed, pouty face at Callisthenes, and nodded sadly. "Alright oppa, follow me then." She said with small tone of regret in her voice.
He continued to follow Yanny up the stairs silently.
(...When the time comes, I'll use that technique I used with that poster on Yanny.) He thought. (But if I need to, I'll ask her some questions myself.)
--...--
"Aaand, we're here!"
Yanny skipped onto the roof cheerfully, doing a small dance. Callisthenes had noticed the roof barely had any places for shelter, the only places being the stairs, the benches, and the picnic tables. That wouldn't be good, considering the sky looked like it was about to rain, and he could bet the roof's floor would be extremely hot.
"Now, there's one veerry important place I need to show you," She said with a serious tone. "Follow me, and try not to get your loafers burned!"
Callisthenes quickly followed her a she skipped along the roof optimistically. While she led him too the place he needed to be ''warned of'', he decided to think a little bit more.
(This 'Yanny' girl is weird... That's for sure,) He glanced at her messy bob briefly. (There's also something off about her... I should probably ask her about that.)
She guided him to a secluded part of the roof that looked strangely off. There was a small drawing pointing towards the spot that said: ''STAY AWAY! WATCH OUT!'' Callisthenes quickly noticed that there... wasn't a fence.
"I heard someone in one of your classes is going to try and push you off the roof in this spot," She said, pointing at the non-fenced area. "So make sure to run once you see this spot."
He was a little confused about the non-fenced area. Why was there no fence in this spot?
Before he could open his mouth to ask Yanny, she walked dangerously close to the edge of the roof, making him flinch. But then he immediately realized that she was just sitting with her legs off of the roof. She gestured for him to sit next her kindly. He feared what she was going to do, but he decided to risk it and sit next to her, his legs dangling from the rooftop uncomfortably.
He decided to ask her about the fence later. And the floor was also strangely... cold.
"Who is going to push me off here anyways?" He asked her while he looked at the grey clouds.
Yanny shrugged and made an "I dunno" sound as she kept her eyes on his body, making Callisthenes even more uncomfortable.
"Y'know... I told this because I was worried 'bout you," Yanny said, sliding closer to him. "Also... The reason why I tried to seduce you is because of those mean girls in the club... Ugh, they are so mean..."
He widened his eyes at her response. Everything came together. (So she's... she's being forced to do this,) He thought, keeping his eyes on the clouds, secretly hoping for it to rain. (I'm not sure if I can do anything however...)
"Thank you for being concerned, and thank you for telling me." He thanked her, smiling at her. Yanny looked away with a small blush plastered onto her face, giggling slightly. "Hehe... Your welcome, Oppa." She mumbled, then looking back at him.
This silent situation felt... mostly familiar for some reason, but Callisthenes decided to use the skill he used on the posters on Yanny while the tension was still there, to see if he could find any info on her.
(Yanny... Yanny Smithington...) Her name echoed in his mind, and soon, he knew more about her, just like with the posters.
(Yanny Smithington... Monster Aura... Leader Of Koreaboo Club... Harpy 1... Will be slayed by... by... by who...?) He shook his head, confused at the strange information he had received. (Just what is a Monster Aura? And what is Harpy...)
Callisthenes quickly noticed what Yanny was attempting to do to him. Her lips were puckered, closing in on his... And his vest was strangely unbuttoned.
He felt his fight or flight mode kick in, and he pushed her away hard, making her barrel away onto the rooftop. Regret hit him hard as a shooting star.
"Yanny!" He screamed, getting up quickly. "I'm so sorry!"
As much as he'd like to help her up... What she had just done to him felt way to close for comfort, and scared him so bad, that he had to keep a distance from her.
He didn't hear a response from her, and was worried that she might've started crying, before she slowly got up, her hair covering her face.
It started to rain, and it rained hard.
"So you know who I am now," Yanny said, her voice as quiet as a mouse. "A dirty, dirty monster."
Callisthenes immediately felt horrible for what he had done. "No, no you're not," He began, still keeping his distance. "Sure, you might be some kind of Harpy, but that doesn't mean you can't be a good person..."
He hoped to seem benignant, but couldn't help but feel like he was patronizing her... Until he heard a strange giggle come from her. Why was she laughing...?
"Yanny...?"
She stopped laughing and whipped her head up, or at least enough for him to see her eyes. "Don't patronize me," She said angrily, her abnormally pink eyes shining brightly. "I thought it was time to end this facade anyways!"
Yanny ran over to him, almost as fast as he was in the court, and gripped his neck, making him flinch. She held him over the roof's edge, while rain pelted them both down.
Once Callisthenes had finally ripped himself away from the shock and adrenaline, he looked at Yanny in fear. That fear quickly turned to shock. Yanny was completely different. Her hair was made out of feathers and was flared up, her arms were replaced with wings, her hands had turned to bird feet, her legs had transformed into bird legs, and her face and neck were dotted with feathers. She was also bigger, as big as one of the muscly PhysEd Teachers.
"Yanny, what are you-!" "I'm doing what I always wanted to do, Callisthenes!" She snapped, her voice similar to a bird's.
"You think you can just slaughter the Chimera and call yourself the descendant of some legendary god?! You are a blood-stained FOOL!" She screamed as she shook his body, sending multiple chills down his spine.
"Wh-who the hell is the Chimera?! And whoever that is, I-I didn't kill them! You've got the wrong kid!" He yelled through the rain, hearing a sudden thunderbolt in the background.
"LIER! LIER! You are nothing but a dirty LIER!" She cawed in outrage, her grip tightening, making Callisthenes gasp for air. "You killed her without a single doubt in your mind! You... Are A MURDERER!"
He tried to dangle out of her hard grasp like a fish out of water, but no matter what he did, it just become harder to breath.
Suddenly he felt like he was about to be thrown.
"Goodbye forever, YOU IMPOSTER FOOL!"
He was thrown hard, and without any hessitation. It was all happening so fast. And it was all going to end fast.
(No, no, no! I can't! This can't be-!)
There was a loud bang and a flash, before it all went silent.
