Chapter Seventeen: Pursuit
The sound of pounding, rushing footsteps could be heard echoing throughout the right hallway from the cafeteria.
Three unlikely students could be seen chasing another, ignoring the pressures of heading to class to take down a 'villain.'
Nari, Austin, and of course, Callisthenes were the chasers, who were pursuing a quick, varsity-jacketed girl known as Yanny, aka, Yanny the Harpy, who threw Callisthenes off the roof.
The pursuit was long and intense, taking multiple turns, and for multiple people to call out to the three of them to stop running and head to class. As much as Callisthenes would like to obey them, he had to chase this girl down for throwing him off the roof, and for suddenly transforming into some kind of harpy.
Maybe she could tell him about this whole Vrónti business.
Soon, Yanny hit a dead-end in one of the halls, and looked back, her face smiling but stressed.
Nari, Austin, and Callisthenes soon came after, Nari having the most intense gaze.
"Yanny Smithington," She stated angrily, "Why did you push Callisthenes off a roof?"
Yanny's left eye twitched at her allegation. "N-nani are you talking about? Why are you interrupting my daily oppa worshiping ritual, Nari-senpai?" She whimpered, making herself look as innocent as possible.
For some reason, Austin was completely silent, although that action was incredibly unlike him. Callisthenes thought that he would've started snarling and hunching his back at her to show dominance and anger, but he was utterly emotionless except for his intense glare.
His glare seemed to be questioning her, while Yanny only gave him occasional glances.
"Don't lie, we know you pushed him. I saw him on the grass injured and hurt, right in front of the rooftop," Nari said, her voice confident. "I saw you run away from the scene as soon as I looked up."
Nari opened her mouth to object, but she knew she couldn't dodge the question anymore. She sighed and said: "Okay, I pushed him off the roof. But I needed to. It's not like I wanted to, y'know?" Yanny lied, playing the victim card.
"You pushed a student off a rooftop! It's a miracle that Callisthenes didn't even die!" Nari said frustrated. "What you've done is illegal and can put you in prison. Austin, take her to the student council."
Almost instantaneously, Austin's face became bright as a sun and as wild as a wolf. It sort of startled Callisthenes how fast his demeanor had changed.
"F'course, Nari! I'll make sure she gets the punishment of her lifetime!" He said cheerfully, quickly grabbing Yanny's arms, and pulling them behind her back.
"Ugh! I was PAID to do this! I was forced! It's all thanks that Dumb Fox!" She screamed and kicked, trying to escape from Austin's grasp.
Dumb Fox? That's an abnormal insult.
"Well... Thanks for teaching her a lesson, Nari. That was a bit extra though..." Callisthenes said thankfully, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Of course, you're my friend and a member to my Literature Club, so why wouldn't I help you?" She smiled at him, satisfied. "Anyways, we should head to class. I'll bring you to your's first, I do have some explaining to do to your teacher."
Callisthenes smiled back at her, thankful for her help and generosity. In some ways, she reminded him of Renee.
"Thanks, let's get going."

"So tell me birdbrain," Austin tightened his grip on Yanny's arms as they walked through the halls. "Why did you just suddenly throw him off the roof with no strategy?"
Yanny grinned at him in a creepy, sly way. "I had to. If I didn't do something as major as knocking some wind off of him, Chief would've fired us."
Austin raised an eyebrow. "I'm not surprised. Chief would fire anybody who is a nuisance to him... Which, let's be honest, your plan did," He said bluntly.
Yanny's eyes grew wide. She couldn't have made a mistake, she literally almost killed him. "The hell do you mean, Leucroc?" She growled.
"You awakened his friend, you should've waited when it was simply cloudy. That thunder that struck him, shocked his friend into waking up and saving him at the last second," He explained thoroughly, breaking character. "But if I were to be more simple about this... You basically just made him stronger by 150%."
Yanny immediately stopped in her tracks, her face darkened and grim. "No... I can't believe it! I thought her spirit would be long gone after..." She balled her fists angrily. "But he can't just let us go! He knows we'll die if he does!" She shouted at him, Austin immediately shushing her with his finger.
"Sorry old pal," He smiled. "But please, just leave this job to me. Αρχηγός, απαλλαγείτε από αυτές τις ενοχλήσεις."
Before Yanny could even cry for help, she was suddenly transported away with the use of some sort of magic. Austin, or Leucroc laughed under his breath.
"Now, to persuade him into the forest..."
