Chapter One: Curiosity
The thunder holds many questions to be answered, but as mystifying and intriguing thunder is, it is murderous. Be careful whenever you hear, or see thunder. I hope you take those words to heart.

As Callisthenes sat down at the dining table, he saw Janette place a bowl in front of him swiftly. It was your everyday salad with a bit too much of tomato slices. "Bon appétit." She said, smiling as she walked over sat on the opposite side of him. (Not many kids get to eat salad,) Callisthenes thought to himself. (I guess I'm lucky enough to be one of the kids who can eat a normal meal.) Callisthenes's family was more or less middle-class, since he could eat normal meals, and have a phone. Sometimes, however, he wondered what it was like as a noble...
(Probably full of delicious meals, butlers, maids, and, oh... Arranged marriages and your life being controlled by your parents.) Callisthenes thought to himself as he picked up his spoon and ate a bit of salad. (Now that I think about it... Maybe I should be thinking about something else. Like, Crownzel Academy, or that strange trident in the sky...)
(What was that trident doing in the sky anyways?) He thought, confused, as he ate another bite of salad. (Was that some kind of... message or something? No way, I couldn't have been the only one who saw that trident...) He ate another bite of the salad, this time quicker. "Soo... Cal," He flinched at the sudden sound of Janette's voice. It was so loud and intimidating, that it would startle him every time she'd speak. "I know I've asked this before, but what is up with you and thunder, huh," She asked, putting the leaf-filled spoon into her mouth. "You have a spiritual connection with it or somethin'?"
"I'll give you the same answer," He said, eating one last bite of the salad. "I'm not so sure." Wherever Callisthenes lived, not much sun would come out. Especially in winter. Not only that, but ever since he was five years old, he felt so calm and at ease when near thunder or rain, almost as if it had comforted him. He paused before he picked up his fork and place it in the empty bowl. "I mean... I guess. I feel calm near the rain and thunder, and it's weird, to be honest." Janette nodded and hummed to his answer, and ate one last bite of the salad. "Alright, I'm done..." She sighed as she picked up the bowl and placed it in the sink. Callisthenes watched her patiently, noticing that she began to get closer to him.
"Your puberty is acting up, I bet that's all just talk, huh?" She said, motioning for him to hand her his bowl. For some reason, he felt offended at the fact that she had just... assumed that. He handed her the bowl roughly. "Well, maybe puberty isn't the reason why," He said angrily, looking bravely at Janette. "Maybe this all started when I was five!" Janette immediately shot him a "calm down and shut up" look, before placing the bowl into the sink. Callisthenes noticed that he had snapped at her without meaning to. He looked down, embarrassed. "I'm sorry, I just..." "Never mind, Cal. Let's change the subject." Janette said, as she put on her gloves.
"So Cal, are you ready?" Janette said, turning on the faucet and grabbing a bowl to wash. "What do you mean?" Callisthenes asked. "You know, the craziest years of your life?" She responded, grabbing a spray bottle and spraying the bowl. "Oh, you mean... High School." Janette smiled at him as she turned off the faucet and grabbing a towel to dry the bowl. "Yeah, High School! Your uniform for Crownzel Academy showed up today while you were outside in the rain, so feel free to check it out," She said, putting the bowl away in the cupboards and grabbing another to clean. "And make sure to get ready for next week, 'cause you know damn well that your first day is gonna be chaotic!" She said as she sprayed the other bowl, and dried it with a towel. She talked about High School with a happy smile on her face, that was like no other.
"Hey Great Auntie," He asked, getting up from his seat. "Yeah?" Janette responded, putting the clean bowl in one of cupboards and taking off her gloves. "Why do you speak so happily of high school? What happened at high school that made it so great?" Callisthenes asked, his gaze curious. Janette sighed happily and shook her head. "When I went to high school," Janette began, looking at the rainy sky with a dreamy smile on her face. "I met the prettiest, kindest girl you could ever meet, Jo." Callisthenes's eyes widened. Jo, or Great Auntie Joelyn, was a kind, yet somewhat timid woman who was married to Janette. Joelyn had unfortunately died however drowning, Janette had never forgave the sea ever since. "Oh, I didn't mean to bring back some old memories..." Callisthenes said, looking away. "Don't beat yourself up, Cal. It's not your fault, it's mine." She said, her happy eyes eroding away to wistfulness. Callisthenes nodded, and walked towards the stairs.
"Thank you, and good night, Great Auntie." Callisthenes said, looking back at his great aunt. Janette smiled at him. "Your welcome, sweetheart. Make sure to get to bed around 10:00, good night."
