~ bet you rue the day you kissed a writer in the dark ~

last night in my dream you were running, running in circles.
for i- am a labyrinth.
you counted the summer stars until you were grasped by a supernova.
for i- am the galaxy that you fear.
you shuddered during your late night drive through the avenue.
for i- am the tar on the road.

you made the mistake of fluttering your eyes open to the mist of the dawn.
for i- am the sleep drenching your eyelashes.
i woke up to see you tripping on the pebbled path leading out of my house.
for i- am a moonflower and i won't bloom always.
when you walk with the sun on your hair, you lift your hand to shield your face.
for i- am the drops of sun that pass by your eyes time and again.

you would remember me in the midst of your sweaty summer afternoon endeavors.
for i- will always be the Aphrodite of your daydreams.
by dusk you would be crouching in the comfortable corner of your mind, hiding, even though it opposes your nature.
for i- somehow made you afraid of nightfall.

when night finally descends, you know you can't run. if you run, it will bring you back to me. instead, you let the void engulf you. you disappear.

you still care sometimes; when you glance at me as you flip through your life.
for i- am the flower you kept pressed in your battered old diary.
