𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲'𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬:

"You made it!" Felix grinned brightly as he opened the door to the practice room.

When Renee finally made it into the room, she took a quick peek around first.

One of the boys had bought in a bunch of different coloured checkered picnic blankets.

The tables in the practice rooms were set up buffet style with all of the bought treats laid out on it. Along with that, there was also a plethora of paper plates and red cups that were easily disposable.

Renee could see Mya and Jeongin sitting on one of the said pink checkered blankets, Mya's head was resting on Jeongin's lap as the two of them laughed about something. Jeongin had a hand gently resting on the top of Mya's head as he looked down at her with soft eyes and the smile on his face wider than one Renee had ever seen.

If she looked further to the left, Chan and Riley were also on a blanket together with black checkers, both as far away from each other as they could be on a small space. Both of them had soft pink blushes spread across their cheeks. However at the same time, both of their hands were both close to the center of the blanket, their fingers just barely apart from each other. One more centimeter and their fingers would be touching.

On the other side of the room were Changbin and Lanhua, Changbin currently feeding Lanhua a chocolate dripped strawberry as they shared their lilac checkered blanket. The tall girl was smiling so beautifully as her boyfriend watched with pure adoration as she took a bite out of the fruit in between his fingers.

Next to Riley and Chan was Robin and Jungkook who were busy laughing at something while relaxing on their blanket with dark purple checkers. Robin was laughing so hard that her entire face had scrunched up to the point that it was hard to distinguish where her eyes were, but Jungkook instead just continued to stare and and laugh. (Not at Robin, of course, in fact he was trying incredibly hard to stop laughing, but the combination of him laughing way too hard at Robin's not funny jokes and then actually laughing was hard to beat.)

To the right of Changhua's overly domestic and in love scene was Felaska. On a yellow checkered blanket, Alaska was eating a popsicle and after letting Renee into the room, he immediately returned to his spot next to Alaska, watching her with intense eyes as Alaska continued to lick the sweet treat. And truthfully, the overly passionate eye contact was more than enough for Renee to turn away and instead focus on Mari and Hyunjin.

Hyunjin had apparently bought tiny canvases for the group to paint on and had a small set of paints that he had bought as well. And of course by the group, he mostly meant for Mari. The two were continuing to paint butterflies, but instead, every five minutes they would swap canvases to continue the other's artwork. But Renee happened to catch the two of them both painting and while Mari was focused, she could see Hyunjin stealing long glances at her rather than doing what he was supposed to while they sat on a mint checkered blanket.

Minsung were in their own world, trying to throw food into each others' mouths and instead making a mess on their red checkered blanket. The rare time that a snack actually did land in one of their mouths instead of the ground, the two would freak out and try to do it once again. Seems like they were having fun which was the most important thing. Renee hoped they wouldn't try to throw her fruit tarts into the air.

However with all these couples that only left one more person who was sitting alone on a blanket with light blue checkers.

"Come sit with me, Renee!" Seungmin called, waving her over.

The puppy like boy was dressed sensibly in a pretty gray hoodie and black pants. His wide smile seemed to grow the slightest bit more as Renee became even closer.

"Hi Nee Nee," Seungmin smiled cheekily as she sat down next to him.
"Hi Seungmin," Renee responded, allowing the grin on her face to grow even more.
"You look really pretty," Seungmin said, after a moment of hesitation.

Renee decided to dress in a pretty light blue cardigan with a white top and then black jeans. She had just done loose waves in her hair that was tumbling over her shoulders. Of course, Seungmin's necklace was resting against her chest making the boy swell with pride and adoration.

"Thanks Seungmin," Renee said softly and took a quick glimpse of the table. "What did you bring to the picnic?"
"You don't know?" Seungmin asked cheekily.

Renee shook her head, deciding to take another look at their makeshift buffet.

"I made the fruit salad! I know it's kind of basic, but I included a lot of sweet and delicious fruits like watermelon, some citrus, and berries."
"I love fruit salad," Renee giggled. "Its the best kind of salad."
"What about dessert salad?" Seungmin asked, while trying (and failing) to raise a singular eyebrow.
"Dessert salad?" Renee echoed.

The boy nodded his head. "You have different types of candies, chocolate, or sometimes we even throw in chips for something salty."

Renee crinkled her nose in disgust at the last suggestion.

"You had me until chips."

Seungmin chuckled while apologizing, clearly amused by the situation.

As if to make up for his mistakes, Seungmin offered her one of the brownies Felix made that he had put on his paper plate.

Renee paused for a moment, before leaning in to take a small bite off of the sugary treat.

She gasped as the taste of the fudge filled her mouth and the chocolate chips that provided a wonderful texture.

"Good, right?" Seungmin asked, breaking her out of her thoughts.
"Delicious! I'll need the recipe from Felix," Renee grinned, smacking her lips together.
"Do you think he'd give it to me?" Renee asked.

And even though she had asked with a teasing tone, that didn't stop Seungmin's mind from drifting to a slightly fantastical image where she and Seungmin were in a shared apartment and she was making brownies for the two of them. Seungmin just happened to be trying to steal the wooden spoon with leftover batter on it to try it.

Seungmin slapped himself in the next second.

"Seungmin?!" Renee gawked, confused and slightly afraid. "Why did you just slap yourself?!"
"I'm fine, I promise. I just... I just thought of something stupid."

Renee smiled at him sadly, her heart breaking and knowing all too well what he was trying to get at.

"I'm sorry Seungmin," she replied quietly. "You know I like you too, right?"

The singer nodded his head, unable to tear his eyes away from staring into her deep brown ones.

"One day when all this has worked out, then we can try. But until then... these girls have to come first," Renee said definitively.

The manager glanced around the room taking in all of the girls' happy faces, not a single worry in sight.

"I get it," Seungmin said softly.

Her head turned back around as she looked at him, taking in all of his features.

"This is important to both you and the girls and myself or any of the other guys would never want to stand in the way of that. But I just want you to know..."

Seungmin paused for a moment as he gently took Renee's hands into his own, looking down at them for a moment before looking back up at her.

"I'm willing to wait for you, no matter how long it takes. So once you guys get past this stupid hate train you're on, I'm going to take you on a date. One that you're more than worthy of where you don't have to worry about anything else in the world and where we can just focus on being in the moment together... is that okay?"

Renee's heart swelled and she gently leaned forwards to press a kiss onto Seungmin's cheek.

"It's a date."
