"Renee?"

The manager looked up as JYP called out her name.

The girl quickly stood up from her seat at the sight of her boss and bowed in his direction.

"Hello sir," Renee said, trying not to allow any sort of nervousness to slip through her carefully put together facade.

JYP smiled at that and gestured for the manager to follow him into the office. The two of them walked in and sat down, Renee setting herself down onto a chair daintily.

"I'm pretty sure I know what you're here to talk to me about," JYP sighed as he interlaced his fingers together and placed his hands on his desk.

Renee nodded, biting her lip nervously. She took a deep breath before finally spewing out everything she had been keeping in for the last three months.

"I know how much bad publicity Bittersweet is currently getting and I know it's not fair to ask after my team disobeyed your rules, but all of the girls are also waiting on the decision you're going to make regarding their futures. If you will let me, I'm here to figure out a long term situation for my girls. I'm willing to listen to whatever ideas you may have for their debut."

JYP sat, thinking hard.

After a long moment of silence, the boss finally spoke again.

"Although it's true the girls betrayed my trust by not following the rules, I do know that I can't pass up on this kind of opportunity to take these girls from being the devils of the industry to the angels. There's so much potential for this group."

Renee felt herself relax slightly. At least they hadn't lost all of his faith and he didn't have any plans to kick the girls out. That was a little bit of comfort she could have.

"For this to happen, however, the girls are going to have to face lots of hate and they all may potentially not want to continue," JYP said seriously. "This is not going to be easy in any way and I want you to know that it's not only the girls who are risking their careers, but myself as well. JYPent prides itself on choosing top tier idols as we are the leaders in entertainment. Debuting Bittersweet is incredibly risky and the only reason that I'm choosing to continue with their debut plan is because I can see their potential for what they can bring to the K-pop community. They cannot embarrass me or the company ever again."

Renee nodded herself, taking in everything that her boss had said. She understood, of course. The girls' actions had created a rather large target on them and them debuting again would most certainly be a high stake risk decision.

"All of the girls and I sat down and had a talk about their futures. None of them are willing to give it up, no matter how many controversies they have to face," Renee said seriously. "And as Bittersweet's manager, I will do my best to never put them in a dangerous situation including one that potentially causes JYPent to lose it's respect as a top leader in entertainment."

JYP nodded at that, seemingly satisfied with the girl's answer and began to type away at the laptop on his desk.

"If you want to make this work, let's begin a debut plan for Bittersweet."

Renee walked back into the door, exhausted.

She had spent 5 hours in JYP's office with him trying to come up with a plan and it most definitely had taken a toll on her.

"Renee?"

The manager looked up tiredly and met eyes with with their youngest.

"We made dinner," Mya said shyly. "Well, not we, Lanhua did. Robin made the drinks, Mari and Alaska made dessert. Riley is getting the salad ready right now. I'm setting the table because Lanhua said and I quote 'Mya, you would burn the dorm down'," the maknae beamed as if it was something to be proud of.

Renee giggled a bit and patted her head.

"I'll go take a shower and get comfortable before we eat then."

Mya nodded and hurried back into their dining room to finish perfectly placing the forks as Renee hurried to grab her pajamas from her bedroom so she could get ready to take a shower.

As she walked into the bathroom and began removing her make up, she couldn't help this pit of dread building up in her stomach.

As much as she didn't want to ruin the girls' day with the new plan they had come up with, they would have to find out sooner or later and it was most definitely something that could be found out later. It was only a matter if she could keep that secret for so long.

A few moments later after Renee stepped out of the shower, she headed to the table to sit down and eat.

Lanhua had clearly done more than just make 'dinner'; it looked like a whole feast.

The rest of the girls were already sitting around the table, chatting away, none of the food touched. But of course, there was still one seat open that all the girls were waiting for to be filled before they ate.

"Lanhua, this is too much food!" Renee gasped as she slipped into that open seat.
"There are seven of us," Lanhua shrugged, not caring that their table was almost overflowing.

That seemed to be enough to satisfy everyone as they finally began to dig in and place food on their plates.

A happy atmosphere filled the as the girls finally began to take their first bites of food.

"The lasagna is so good Lanhua!" Mya beamed as she took another forkful with one hand and covering her mouth since it was full of food with her other hand.

Renee smiled softly and took a bite for herself. The softness of the pasta mixed with a perfect amount of meat sauce made for a delicious bite.

The girls all began their own side conversations, absentmindedly, but it was clear that they were all nervous about something.

Renee knew what it was. She knew this was going to happen; coming back from a big meeting like this was bound to stir up some uneasiness especially since it was the girls' futures on the line.

She really had planned on keeping it a secret, until she looked over at Riley.

The leader had a certain look in her eyes that Renee had come to recognize: shame.

And Renee's heart broke.

Riley had expressed how she was feeling to Renee before. Most of that talk was how she felt responsible for the whole thing and as the leader, she should've known better than to encourage any sort of romantic relationship for her bandmates. Now they were all caught in the crossfire. If she had kept her mount shut, there never would've been a problem and Bittersweet could've had a normal debut and been loved by the public.

But instead, they were stuck waiting for some sort of decision and the K-pop community was still blacklisting them.

Renee felt her heart clench. Riley had certainly gotten better at concealing her feelings ever since the incident and Renee hated it. Despite her hiding it incredibly well, Renee could still see that Riley seemed to have lost a bit of spark in the process.

She glanced around the table and noticed Alaska picking at her food, which was more common lately.

It had taken Alaska a whole month after the incident to begin dancing again, so maybe it wasn't so shocking.

Having been told that she was only famous because she was Hyunjin's sister and then even after being named a 'nepo baby', having the audacity to chase Felix like a so called 'slut' ruined her.

Renee remembered Alaska's muffled sobs through her door all too clearly. She remembered one of the times when she had comforted Alaska, the girl had broken down in her arms, unable to stop apologizing for being talentless and that she would do everything it would take it get better even though Renee repeatedly reassured her that she was the best.

She had tried so hard to prove that she was more than just Hyunjin's sister and she had finally thought she crossed the bridge, only to be shoved back across again.

Renee's eyes then fell on Mari.

Mari was making quiet conversation with Mya, but the usual bright spark wasn't in her eyes anymore.

It hadn't returned since the finale. Except for once; Renee caught Mari gently run her fingers down the canvas painting Hyunjin made for her and then when Mari walked away from it, her usual demeanour returned. Maybe it was because it reminded her of a time when all of her friends were at their happiest moments and so was she.

Renee then pulled her gaze away from Mari and onto Lanhua.

The older girl still held herself with grace and dignity, but when no one else was looking, her shoulders would slump and her carefully put together image would crumble.

For that entire week after the finale, Lanhua had been a train wreck, worried about her members and their futures. It didn't help that her texts with Changbin had more of an ominous feeling to them every time she put down her phone.

Then finally, Renee looked at Robin.

Surprisingly, Robin hadn't gotten as much hate as anyone had predicted, mostly because people immediately decided to call bullshit on that possible romance. However, Renee knew better. She knew Robin was slowly beginning to spend less time in the studio and more in her room as her inspiration to write slowly began to die down.

And then, a big bubble began to build up in Renee. She couldn't tell whether it was sadness, anger, or something else, but she just couldn't keep it a secret anymore, not when her members were suffering like this and she had a solution to all of their problems.

She stood straight up from her seat at the table and shut her eyes right before blurting out, "we're going to debut!"
