Sweets // Chapter Ten
// Ponyboy's Point Of View //
Work for me ended about fifteen minutes ago and I am now standing in front of a mirror, debating whether I should keep on what I am wearing or if I should change it. Johnny did say I looked nice in what I was wearing so maybe I should just keep what I have on.
I smile lightly at my reflection and run a hand through my hair, adjusting the flower crown. I sigh softly and brush my hands over my jean shorts overalls and wipe off any dirt that might be there.
That leaves forty five minutes to do whatever until Johnny comes to pick me up. I could do some cleaning or just pack a mini bag for emergency things.
"Is there anything that needs to be cleaned," I mumble to myself, looking around my apartment.
The kitchen looked spotless along with the living room. Walking into the kitchen, I look for any dirty dishes but find none.
"Emergency bag it is," I mumble again.
I walk into my bedroom and go to the closet, pulling out the smallest bag I had. Placing it on the bed, I look in my night stand and grab out the flashlight I had.
I wasn't really sure on what I would need considering I have no idea where he is taking me. Taking a seat on the bed, I look around my room trying to think of what I could possibly bring.
Nothing came to mind so I guess it's only the flashlight I need to bring. Not needing the bag anymore, I take the flashlight out and stuff it into my back pocket.
I walk out to the living room and sit on the couch, turning on the TV and watching whatever station came on. I checked the time ever only seeing I had half an hour left to do what I wanted.
"I wonder if I'll get to meet his friends," I think out loud. "Probably not though. . ."
I close my eyes and ignore the TV sounds and every other noise going on in my apartment. In all honesty, I was really nervous to go out with Johnny.
It felt like forever I was sitting there with my eyes closed when I heard a knock on the door. Quickly, my eyes shoot open and I stand up for the couch, walking to the door.
I open it slowly and there stands a shy looking Johnny, his hair neatly slicked back with sunglasses on top of his head. He wore black ripped jeans with a white shirt and I jean jacket.
I looked over his appearance and I felt my face heat up slightly, he looked so. . . Hot. . . I bit my lip and stepped out of the apartment, shutting the door behind me to stand in front of him.
He looked at me and gave a nervous smile, pulling his arms from behind his back and handing me a lily. I smiled and took it from him, holding it in my hand gently, trying not to crush it.
"I-i hope you like it," Johnny stutters out.
"I-i like it a-a lot. How'd y-you know lilys a-are my favorite," I ask.
"Just a guess," he says with a shrug.
"Well thank you," I say. "Not to bother but where are we going," I ask softly.
"Well, we are headed to a couple of places. . . Is that okay," he asks quietly.
"Of course, let's go," I say.
He nods slightly and turns to walk down the hall with me following behind him. We walk down the hall and finally making it to the front door.
He opens the door and and lets me walks out before he does, letting the door close behind us. Without thinking, I lift my hand and tuck the lily behind my ear, breaking off some of the stem so it wasn't as long.
Realizing what I did, my eyes widened and I looked down. My steps became slower and I put my hands into my pockets, balling them into fists and stop walking.
"Are you okay," Johnny asks, stopping next to me.
"Y-yeah, I just. . . I-i. . ." I looked up at him. "I-i guess I p-put it behind m-my ear and b-broke some of the s-stem," I mutter.
"That's okay. . . It looks nice," he says with a light smile.
My face heat up again and I pull my hands from my pockets, placing them at my sides. He turns back around and keeps walking, me following beside him.
Shyly I reach my hand out before retracting it and placing at my side again. I hear him chuckle quietly and I feel his hand lace his fingers with mine.
"All you have to do is ask," he says.
"A-alright Johnny," I mumble.
He chuckles again and we keep walking. I can already tell this is going to be a good night. . .
