"Agatha is a bitch." Annabelle said as she picked up a dead fish that had washed onto the deck during the storm. Her face scrunched up as the smell filled her nostrils and she covered her nose with her free hand as she threw the animal back into the ocean. She stood on the bridge by Pope's dad's restaurant Heywrads Seafood along with Pope himself. They had been working since seven in the morning with fixing up the mess that storm Agatha had created.
"She's one crazy lady," Pope said. The boy was washing the deck using the hose in his hands.
"This is the fourth dead fish I find up here." Annabelle gagged as she lifted the dead animal in the air. "Want a bite?" She joked, flashing it in front of Pope's face making him slap it out of her hands. Hayward, who stood a few feet away, shoved his shovel hard into the ground.
"Anna, will you take your jobs seriously for once." He said placing his hands to his sides.
"Sorry, but this is disgusting." She shivered at the sight of the fish on the ground.
"Well, look what we have here." A familiar voice said making the girl spin around, tossing the animal into the ocean. John B and JJ approached them on the Routledge boy's boat painted in blue with the white letters HMS pouge on it. JJ whooped at the sight of his two friends. Annabelle knew that the boys weren't the type of people to just stop by to visit at least not when coming by boat. The girl knew that the two were going to steal them from work and she wasn't going to argue about it.
"Hey boys!" She smiled and waved eagerly, ready to get out of fish-picking duty. The girl earned a smile from JJ who stood in the front of the boat.
"We have a safety meeting. Attendance mandatory." John B spoke into his hand like a walki talki finishing his sentence with mimicking a static sound.
Annabelle had to stop herself from jumping down on the boat as soon as she saw it, knowing that Hayward wouldn't be happy with her. She and Pope worked hard but they would pull stuff like this from time to time. But whenever she did, Hayward always told her how much she reminded him of her mother afterward. The girl threw a quick glance over to the man behind her who stared back at her with one of those looks telling her that she shouldn't move a muscle if she wanted to live to see another day.
"We can't. Pop's making us work." Pope put his arms out in the air as he gave them a disappointed look.
"Come on, guys." JJ sighed before copying John B's move by making a static sound before pretending to talk into a walkie-talkie. "Your Dad's a pussy. Over."
"Oh, I heard that, you little bastard." Hayward walked up from behind Annabelle.
"We need your workers." John B said as they slowly approached the deck.
"Yeah, And island rules- day after a hurricane's a free day." JJ gave the older man a sly grin as he shrugged.
"Who made that up?" Hayward asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Uhm. Pentagon I think. I have security clearance. I have a card." The boy pulled out an imaginary card from his pocket making Annabelle giggle.
"Think I'm stupid?" Hayward questioned.
"We'll do it tomorrow, Bobby. We promise. Right, Pope?" Annabelle said making Pope nod eagerly.
"Tomorrow." He repeated the girls words.
"You thinkโ No, no." The older man protested. "Hell no, you doin' it right now."
"Get in the boat." John B whispered.
Pope was the first to drop the hose in his hands before rushing onto the boat making Hayward take a sharp step forward. "Boy, if you get in that boat-"
"Make a run for it, Bells!" JJ whispered.
Annabelle turned to him and gave him a small and sorry smile before forcing the gloves off her hands. "Sorry, Bobby." She said before turning back to the boat, hopping onto it assisted by JJ's hand to help her on.
"Bring your asses back up here." Hayward tried.
"We promise we do it tomorrow, Dad."
"Definitely." Annabelle nodded along as she waved at the man.
JJ cheered as they drove off making Hayward yell at them once again but they were too far away to hear him. Annabelle sank down at the end of the boat, letting her feet dangle over the edge, dipping her toes in the ocean every now and then.
"Thank God." She breathed in as Pope sat down next to her. "The smell of dead fish was killing me."
"Same goes for the fish- quite literally." JJ attempted to make the girl laugh.
The boat traveled along the island before slowing down by Kiara's house. The girl stood ready with her coolbox filled with beer to its absolute rim. The girl's face lit up upon spotting her friends.
"Oh, top o' the mornin' to ya!" Jj exclaimed, failing to put on an Irish accent.
"Morning, Kie." Annabelle smiled as she helped her onto the moving boat.
"Good morning, guys." She put her cooler box down.
"Whatcha got? Some juice boxes?" Pope joked.
"You know just some yogurt and carrot sticks." Kiara grinned.
Annabelle and JJ basically threw themselves over the cooler box, hurrying to crack open a beer.
"Brace for impact." John B said while he began to drive faster as they headed out on the more open sea. Annabelle placed the beer to her lips, letting the cold drink fill her mouth. JJ jumped down next to her, shoving his cap on her head, falling over her eyes and making her spill her beer. She tilted the cap up, allowing her to playfully glance over to the boy who now sat next to her. He grinned at her before sipping on his drink as his feet brushed over the water. As the girl adjusted the cap on her head, letting her gaze leave the boy who kept his plastered on her, silently admiring her. For someone who just picked dead fish from the ground, she looked gorgeous. Her black hair fell perfectly over her shoulders and even without makeup, she reminded him of a goddess.

Annabelle stood with John B's arm draped around her shoulder like he usually did. He and Pope had switched places to give John B some time to catch up with the amount of beer they had been consuming while he was driving.
"Bet you can't do it," Annabelle smiled, locking eyes with the Maybank boy in front of her who once again stood shirtless. The boy claimed that he was going to pursue to do a party trick that included the beer in his hands.
"Oh, how much? Another condom? You already used the other one?" He grinned tauntingly, making the girl squint her eyes and give him a glance.
"I'm with Bells on this one," John B sent the girl a smile and she nodded approvingly.
"First of all, fuck you both," JJ jokingly shot the two a middle finger. "And second of all only I am allowed to call her that." He tauntingly got up in John B's face before snatching the beer out of his hands with a grin making the friends around him laugh. JJ got to the front of the boat with the beer in his hands.
"It's not a party trick if you can't pull it off." Annabelle snickered.
"Watch me," He grinned before looking over to Pope who stood by the wheel. "Pope, can you go a bit faster?"
Annabelle felt John B turn both him and her around to take a few steps back as to take cover along with the rest of their friends. "Here we go," She said as she swiftly and not so glamorously placed her hair in a bun
John B turned his head around so his mouth was to Annabelle's ear. "20 bucks he falls."
The girl looked up at him before smiling. "Bet."
Pope began to speed up while the rest took cover. Every pair of eyes were plastered on the blonde surfer boy in front with one foot placed on the edge to give him more balance. He lifted the beer in front of him, hoping to drink from it as it came flowing out of the bottle. But instead, the liquid missed his mouth, coming at the rest of the group who made a desperate attempt to shield themselves. Annabelle groaned seeing as he once again failed to do his party trick.
"J, you're getting beer on my face," Kiara turned her head away from him.
Within a minute the majority of the boy's drink had gotten on everyone and most of it had missed his mouth. Pope made a hopeless attempt to make the boy get down and commit to his failure but he was determined to finish the rest of the beer. Annabelle joined Pope in trying to get him down as she started to get worried about his balance.
Then everything came to a halt. Annabelle's body was ripped from the grip under John B's arm as she jolted forward falling to the floor of the boat. The whole boat jittered as if it had crashed into something making the group fly forward forcefully. Annabelle forced herself to her knees when she felt a sharp pain in her knee. She looked at it seeing a bloody cut trailing up it caused by the shards of glass that used to be her beer bottle but that were scattered over the floor of the boat. "Shit," the girl cursed as she pressed her hand against the cut. She then rose to her feet, hurrying over to the end of the boat trying to locate JJ who had been shoved into the water. She stared at the wavy surface for multiple moments before finally seeing the boy's face appear making her let out a relieved sigh.
"Jesus, Pope." She heard Kiara say.
"You okay, JJ" John B asked earning a groan from the boy who now floated on his back.
"I think my heels touched the back of my head." He said as he grasped for breath.
"Kie, you okay?" John B asked as he forced himself to sit up. The Carrera girl nodded as she brushed some hair out of her face. The boy then turned to Annabelle to ask her the same question but stopped when he fixated his gaze on the blood that seeped out of the wound on the girl's knee. "Anna, you're bleeding." He said as he made his way over to her with a worried expression.
"It's fine, really. It didn't cut deep." She shot him a reassuring smile but he didn't seem to care what she said as he quickly searched through his pockets to find a small paper tissue which didn't do much but disturb Annabelle slightly as she was pretty sure she saw both mustard and ketchup on it. "Thanks," She smiled.
"Pope, what did you do?" JJ's voice was a mixture of pained irritation.
"Sandbar. The channels changed." Pope spoke as he rubbed the back of his aching head.
"No shit."
"I'm surprised my spine is still intact," Annabelle said as she walked over to the edge to give the blonde a hand. But her eyes fixated on something bigger, buried beneath the surface. The black haired lost all interest in helping the boy up and instead, she placed her hands at the rim of the boat, lowering herself to it as to get a closer look. She sucked in a breath when she saw the wreck hidden under them.
"No fucking way. Guys." She said without gaining anyone's attention since they were all dazed from the crash. "Guys!" She repeated only louder this time making everyone's heads spin around to face her.
"What?" Pope asked as he walked over to stand next to her, trying to figure out what she was looking at.
"I think there's a boat down there," Annabelle said making John B and Kiara join her and Pope by the edge.
"Shut up," JJ said, still in the water.
"No, she's right. There's a boat." Pope pointed to the white wreck.
