Kimberly drummed her fingers on her thigh as she stood in the elevator, her suitcase next to her.

Every second that passed was a second closer to (what she was sure was) her end. If Charlie didn't kill her, then she was sure that she would die of embarrassment anyway. Stupid, stupid, stupid. She thought as she smacked herself on her forehead. If only she wasn't so impulsive. If only she didn't let her emotions and feelings get to her head. Maybe this would all be so much better.

Finally the elevator dinged, and Kim took a deep breath as she stepped out of the elevator and walked towards Charlie's apartment. She took off her AirPods (from which Laufey was playing, of course,) and came to a stop in front of the door to Char's apartment.

She took another deep breath before ringing the doorbell. It's going to be fine. What's the worst that could happen?

She could hear Charlie shuffling around, probably standing up from bed. "Sorry mom, someone is at the door. Give me one minute." Kimberly heard him say as he walked towards the door, bringing a smile to her face.

All of a sudden the door swung open, revealing Charlie. "Surprise?" Kim said uneasily, shrugging her shoulders.

His face broke into a grin, and he didn't lose a second enveloping the girl into a hug.

Kimberly exhaled a sigh of relief as she buried her face into his hoodie. "Is it weird to say that I missed you?" Charlie asked as he placed his chin on top of Kim's head.

"I would be more offended if you didn't." She laughed.

"Charlie? You there?" Charlie's mom said through the phone.

He squeezed his eyes shut. "Shit. Sorry Kim." He said as he removed himself from their hug and went back to his phone.

Kimberly trailed after him, having nothing to do. What she didn't realize was that Charlie was on FaceTime, and his mom noticed that Kim was there in the background. "Oh Kimberly dearie! I haven't seen you in so long!"

Kimberly's eyes widened in alarm as she realized and Charlie had to bite the inside of his cheek to keep himself from laughing. "Look at how much you have grown! You really need to come visit." At this point Charlie was fully bent over laughing silently, unable to control himself anymore.

"Well I will leave you two lovebirds be. Have fun! But not too much fun."

His mom hung up, and silence enveloped the apartment. Kimberly felt as though she could cut the tension with a knife.

"Soooo..." Kim sighed and tilted her head.

Charlie just shrugged. "Did you mean it?"

Kimberly nodded. "Did you like it?"

Charlie nodded too. "So what the fuck are we to do?"

"I have no idea." She shrugged.

"I mean, I like you, and I have for a while, since June, actually. I mean, I think I liked you before, but I only realized it in June..." Charlie shut his eyes in embarrassment, and Kimberly took that as an opportunity to slowly walk forward as he kept talking. "And, I mean, I don't know, but I think you like me too, and if you do like me, then, maybe, we could, I dunno, date?"

Kimberly stood on her tiptoes to press a kiss to his lips. "Are you asking me out, Bushnell?"

Charlie grinned. "Yep."

"Well then, I think I may as well say yes. You don't seem to bad of a lad." Kim smiled.

"You and your British accent." Charlie shook his head, faking disappointment, but he was terrible at masking the giddiness he felt. He wanted to squeal like a high school girl that just got asked out to prom by her crush (not that far off, to be honest.) 

"Uncle Tom has been rubbing off on me." She shrugged.

"Okay, but hurry up, I'm taking you on a date." Charlie grinned, causing Kimberly to smile.

a/n: um... hi? uh, it's been awhile, i'm sorry. this chapter is kinda short, but i'm terrible at writing romance (sue me) so i didn't want to go overboard.
