POST EPILOGUE

To hear about Nova's successful suicide shocked the district was an understatement. Everyone was in disbelief and disarray. Nova was a ray of sunshine, and strengthened the hope for the people. After Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen left for the 74th Hunger Games, Nova fell into a deep, dark depression. She barely wanted to eat, sleep, or leave her home. Nova clenched onto a t-shirt of Peeta's, always keeping it close to her.

After the deaths of Nova's parents, she was an orphan, and felt more alone than ever. Peeta promised her that he would never leave her, and that he would always love her. But Peeta broke that promise. In the arena, he had kissed Katniss. Nova felt her heart break into pieces, as if someone had stomped on it.

The love affair with Peeta and Katniss had began, and it left Nova Mae in shambles. She was left miserable and numb in pain.

When Peeta and Katniss arrived back in District 12, arms locked onto each other's, smiles on their faces, it broke the last little shiver of hope Nova had left. Peeta's smile dropped when he saw the unhealthily looking blonde. He looked down, seeing her twisting her engagement ring on her finger, his heart dropped down into his stomach. He watched her pull of the ring, placing it in the palm of his hands. Peeta guiltily watched her give him a sad smile, before she reluctantly walked away.

Silence casted through the town-square, all staring in awe at the breakup happening before them. Katniss's mouth gaped open in shock, her heart breaking for them. She didn't want to be apart of the fake love affair between her and Peeta, for the sake of Nova. But Katniss didn't have a choice, and she hated herself for robbing someone as kind and caring, as Nova from love.

Peeta broke away from the crowd and Katniss, running toward their meadow. The ring was still clenched in his hand, as he ran toward their special place. He stopped, when he came across a tree, with a long vine wrapped around a girl's neck. Peeta instantly unwrapped the vine from her neck, the body slammed down onto the grassy land. But Peeta was too late-Nova was dead. Peeta screamed out in agony, holding onto her cold, dead body.

"I'm so sorry, Nova," Peeta cried out, "I love you so much. I love you." He repeatedly kissed her forehead, his tears hitting against her skin.

Footsteps approached him, but he didn't dare look up. His arms clung onto her limp body, not leaving the love of his life alone.

"Peeta..." Katniss wearily trailed off, nervously shifting her weight from foot to foot.

Peeta didn't say a word. He picked up Nova's limp hand, sliding the engagement ring onto her finger. He kissed the top of her hand, before he placed it back down across his stomach.

The funeral was beautiful. The whole town was there to show their support. Nova was placed beside her parents, knowing she would want to put to rest near her best friends.

Peeta stood up, saying his final farewell to Nova. He unfolded the crinkled paper he had scribbled writing on. He went to start off the say the first line of words, but he crushed the paper, placing it in his pocket. "Nova, was the love of my life-she's still the love of my life. Nova was so hopeful, and happy all the time. With all the pain she went through, she still remained strong and determined. Nova inspired me everyday; she brought me all the happiness in the world. I made her a promise...and I broke it," Peet firmly spoke, chocking back tears. "I was the last person she trusted and cared about it, and I broke my promise to her. I will never forgive myself for breaking the last shred of hope she had left."

Peeta knelt down beside her gravestone, tears heavily falling down his face. "I love you Nova Mae Lambert. Forever and always till the end of time."

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Now, this is officially the end of 'Sweet Dreams'. I know a lot of you have been asking for Peeta's reaction to Nova's death, and here it is. I'm happy with the way this book came along, and I liked how I ended it. It's always sad when an author kills off their oc, but I feel like it's a twist in the plot.
