3-PUPPY LOVE
➳➳➳➳
The euphoria of love-a feeling that swells up inside of you, making you feel the keen sting of falling in love. Falling in love for the very first time can be a magical thing. It can make you feel like you're on cloud nine. It can make you feel alive and that one person is yours forever.
Love can be mistaken by infatuation; lust, desire, attraction. It can also be mistaken by puppy love. Young children fallen in love, but not knowing what love really was. They adored each other, being in the loving company of one another.
Nova Mae Lambert, interlocked her hands with Peeta's, as they walked through town square. A smile piercing the corner of the blonde's lip, a laugh escaping from her lips. The two children had disturbed the neighbors by hollering and screaming. They both were surprised that Peacekeepers weren't called.
As they entered into the heart of town square, a crowd of people had gathered around, looking up at the screen that showcased The Hunger Games. A desert landscape projected on the screen, showing the tributes yarning for cold, fresh water, while burning in the scorching sun. Nova clenched her eyes shut when she saw a knife stabbing into one's stomach, before being ripped out. The man fell to the ground, blood flowing out from under him. The man who killed him, smiled sinisterly, as he took the dead man's weapons, running away from the scene of the crime. The cannon went off, signaling another death in the 69th Hunger Games.
"It's okay," Peeta softly told her, as Nova looked away from the scene.
Nova hated, purely was disgusted by the games. She hated living in a world like this. A world where lives are lost by killing one another. Where people are segregated by how poor and how rich they are. Where a dictator rules over the citizens, using the position for power and unfair treatment.
"Can we just please leave?" Nova mumbled, "I don't feel up to staying in town anymore."
Peeta nodded, as he took the young girl by the forearm, pulling her along. They walked in silence through the ways to their neighborhood. The images never left Nova's mind. Those images were impregnated into her brain, allowing her to never forget. Nova may seem fearless, and that she isn't afraid of anything, but underneath that all, she's frightened.
She's frightened that when she gets older, it will be her name that gets picked out.
Both kids sat on the porch steps of Peeta's home, both silent. Peeta wanted to speak up, but he didn't know what to say. He felt the pain and fear that radiated off of her.
"Nova," he started out. "I'm scared too." The boy let out.
Nova huddled closer to the boy, pouting lightly. "I don't want to be in The Hunger Games."
"I don't either," Peeta agreed.
Nova lifted up her head, feeling herself fill up with determination. "We need to figure out a way to end The Hunger Games."
Peeta stared at her with confusion. "What can we do? We're only 11, and in the poorest District. The Capitol isn't going to listen to us."
Nova smiled softly. "We'll make them see what Nova Mae Lambert and Peeta Mellark can do."
And that is what Nova intended to do. With the help of her best friend, to make the Capitol see what they see. And that sight would be the disasters that The Hunger Games caused.
Nova Mae was going to put the games to rest. Sweet dreams, Hunger Games.
