— DIANA EINE WAS THE ASSISTANT TO MOVIE STAR JOHNNY CAGE. Having been his PA for a few years now, she knew everything about him — everything. It wasn't until Johnny met his wife that Diana slowly saw a change in his playboy lifestyle — he wasn't a bachelor anymore, he was a married man now. Johnnys wife was the complete opposite of him and seemed to dislike the fact that he was famous — even though she knew that before she met and decided to marry him. Diana kept her distance — more than she usually did — until a drunk Johnny showed up to her door after an argument that he and his wife had only minutes before.

— JOHNNY WENT ON A DRUNKEN RANT ABOUT HOW HE DIDN'T LIKE HIS MARRIAGE. Diana surprisingly listened and added her input whenever needed. Johnny ended up sleeping on her shoulder that night — drooling slightly which Diana didn't mind — curled up into her side, this was a side of Johnny Diana had never seen, even after years of knowing him. Johnnys wife ended up picking him up that morning — not before claiming that the two had ended up sleeping together. Diana denied this but that ended up with her getting slapped, she didn't retaliate. Diana saw less of Johnny after that, instead only seeing him on movie sets and if they ended up running into each other in public.

— ONE NIGHT, A MAN SHOWED UP AT DIANA'S DOOR WITH GLOWING WHITE EYES. Introducing himself as Liu Kang the protector of Earthrealm — he told Diana that she was one of the champions chosen for a tournament called Mortal Kombat. The first thing Diana thought was that Johnny got one of his actor friends to play a prank on her before two more men showed up — named Scorpion and Sub-zero, which was only their pseudonyms. Diana wanted to know why she was chosen and that's when Liu explained everything — Diana's parents weren't from Earthrealm, instead coming from a realm in Outworld. Diana's mother and father both had special abilities — abilities like that of a snake — Diana just hadn't known this because she had never practiced her abilities. Diana ended up in Earthrealm because her parents had sent her through a portal before they were killed — her parents had been known to always be around when situations went badly, they were seen as bad luck.

— SO, TO PREPARE HER, LIU KANG HAD SUB-ZERO FIGHT DIANA. Getting beat up by someone ten times bigger than her sucked before her eyes — well, her left eye, which had always been a different color than her right eye — changed into a snake eye, her teeth changed into fangs and she was able to somehow spray venom from her mouth along with seeming to slither around Sub-Zero's body like a snake. Needless to say, Diana ended up winning the fight and proved herself that she would be a good champion for Mortal Kombat.

— WHAT SHE WASN'T READY FOR WAS THAT JOHNNY WOULD BE ANOTHER CHAMPION — AND THAT HE WOULD BE SINGLE.
