DIANA TRIED TO WAKE HERSELF UP with the coffee she had brewed herself — with the Kuerig she had gotten a year or two ago for Christmas. The time was six thirty in the morning, Diana had to wake up this early because of her employer, Johnny Cage — real name being John or Johnathan, Carlton. Being the personal assistant to a movie star was tiresome but it was fun to Diana — traveling and getting to experience things not too many people get to in their lives, she wouldn't trade it for anything. Stepping out of her home, she pulled her keys out and locked the front door before going to her car — the first thing she had to do that morning was to pick Johnny up and bring him to the set of a movie he was doing.

Apparently Steven Spielberg was directing it. Diana had gotten this information from Johnnys agent since Johnny wasn't actually able to talk to her — that reason was because of his wife, who didn't like Diana at all. Since Diana had been the PA to Johnny for six years, she had remembered his address — she didn't think that was weird of her to do, it was more practical for her if anything. Driving in silence, Diana soon pulled up to the Cage mansion, Johnny already waiting outside — seeming to be sleeping standing up. Diana hated the thought of disturbing the rest of the neighborhood by honking the horn, so she ended up just getting out of the car and walking over to Johnny — placing a gentle hand on his shoulder, Diana spoke quietly. "Johnny?" That was enough to startle the actor awake.

"Huh? Oh, Diana." He cleared his throat, "Let's go." He walked past her to the car before getting in the passenger seat — Diana followed behind, not saying anything as she knew that if Johnny didn't keep his distance then that would risk an argument happening in Johnnys marriage. Diana continued driving in silence while Johnny slept in the passenger seat, his sunglasses covering his eyes with his arms crossed — his wedding ring missing. Diana noticed that it was clear Johnny had been kept up the night before — most likely an argument that was most likely caused by her. She just seemed like a bad luck charm in Johnnys life she couldn't help but think she was the cause of everything bad in it.

The movie Johnny was starring in was titled Temple of Katara Vala — the set was all practical which meant the takes they took were limited, so it was better that every single one was perfect. Diana stood off to the side as they filmed, not necessarily interested as she didn't want to cause something bad to happen, knowing her, she'd most likely mess something up — so she stayed by the exit doors, drinking her lukewarm coffee as she sat in an uncomfortable plastic chair. Watching from afar, Diana saw Johnny performing his own stunts — she couldn't help but be impressed every time she watched him move so swiftly, especially because of how old he was — now that was attractive. Furrowing her brows, Diana shook the thought off, she did think Johnny was attractive but just listing off what she found attractive about him was a bit too far for her.

"Cut!" Steven Spielberg called out — meaning that it was most likely a wrap for that day. Diana watched as Johnny and Steven talked — Johnny glancing over at Diana once or twice before he walked the opposite way to the dressing room. Diana got up and threw her coffee away before going outside to the car — the time was seven o'clock already, the sun was going down as the moon rose up. Diana waited in the car before Johnny entered and sat in the passenger seat, she drove off to the Cage mansion — Johnny sleeping again on the way. Diana wished that Johnny could've started some conversation or even said random things like he did before — it was like he wasn't himself. Pulling up to the mansion, the stopping of the car made Johnny wake up, "Diana." He groaned as he woke up, making her look at him — he looked away from her, "Thanks.." Is all he said before exiting the car and going to his home. Diana smiled softly before she drove back to her own place.

Feeling as if she could pass out right as she stepped into her home — Diana locked her door and fell onto her couch, kicking her shoes off as she laid there. She closed her eyes and felt sleep taking her off into her dreamland before a knock came from her door. Her eyes snapped open — who could be trying to visit to her this late? She got up and walked to the door before clearing her throat, "Who is it?" She asked — no response. Maybe it was the sleep — maybe it was the hope that it was Johnny — but Diana couldn't help but open the door. There stood a man with glowing, white eyes. He smiled to show he meant no harm, "Good evening. I am Liu Kang, protector of Earthrealm." Diana looked over the man's shoulders, "Did Johnny Cage send you?" She asked and the man — Liu Kang — shook his head. "Ms. Eine, we are here to speak to you about a tournament."

Diana raised a brow in confusion, "Okay... you can just call me Diana... um, come in." Liu Kang stepped into her home — Diana went to close the foot — not before a dagger on a chain went flying by Diana's face and into the framed picture — a signed picture from Sylvester Stallone that Johnny had gotten her three years ago — the dagger stuck into the picture and the wall. Diana's eyes were wide as she pulled the door open and saw two men — one wearing all yellow and the other wearing all blue. "This is Kuai Liang and Bi-Han, ninjas from Outworld." Diana nodded her head slowly, "Well did Kuai have to ruin my wall?" She questioned Liu making him chuckle, "They both can be a little too serious at times." He said making Diana look between the two ninjas — both as still as statues. Diana sighed before looking at her feet, "Well, tell me, what is this tournament I'm going to be apart of.."

"Mortal Kombat." Is all Liu said making shivers run down Diana's back. "Why me?" Are the only words that she can say. "Because of your abilities, your history — you know your father was once picked to be apart of Mortal Kombat — he was able to keep the balance between Outworld and Earthrealm." Now that Diana couldn't believe, "No, I was adopted, my dad works at a supermarket — he wears glasses, he doesn't even like fighting." Diana was in disbelief. Liu just smiled softly, "That is because he isn't your real father. Your actual parents came from a realm in Outworld and sent you through a portal here before they were killed. They were seen as bad luck — always being around when things went wrong — your parents were special. They both had given you abilities to help you fight, it is time to test you Diana." Liu explained before Bi-Han stepped forward, "It is time to test your might."

Diana furrowed her brows, "Wait, I can't fight — especially him." Bi-Han didn't react to her words — instead putting his hands up, getting ready to fight. "Wait, wait, wait!" Diana's words fell on deaf ears as Bi-Han punched her stomach — she wheezed before falling to the ground. "Okay, guess I'm doing this." Hobbling back up — Diana tried to land a hit but was blocked and countered on every single one. Her frustration built up and soon, she landed an uppercut. She smiled at how Bi-Han reacted and quickly she kept landing hits. As if on instinct, she opened her mouth and sprayed venom at his face — she slinked around him, like a snake, and quickly took him down. She landed all the hits, "Flawless victory." She mumbled with a smile before helping Bi-Han up — he surprisingly let her. "You have proved yourself as a champion for Earthrealm, your parents would be proud." Liu said before he walked to the front door, "Come, we have more champions to get." Kuai and Bi-Han followed behind him, Diana quickly slid her shoes back on and closed the door — walking blindly into a portal to the next champions home.
