CHAPTER TWO

( STYX KRONIŌN )

ONE: WHY DO I FEEL LIKE THIS?

styx had gotten straight back to the salvatore school after leaving hope with the alaric man who apparently so was lizzie and josie's father. she had gotten past the magical border easily and straight to her single room. she would be sure to check up on hope soon, the girl gave her a homely feeling. it wasn't warm and welcoming, it was cold and sad.

however she now sat in the lunch hall with the rest of the students as the headmaster, mr. vardemus informed them on some sort of game that would be played soon. "as you're well aware it's time for the annual football match with mystic falls high" the students all let out sighs which confused the girl.

she still was getting used to the mundane activities the supernatural teenagers and children liked to participate in. it confused her, if she were being honest. they all radiated magic and power and were willing to hide it just to fit in.

the older children who seemed to be her age seemed the most annoyed, most muttering incoherence's. she noticed jed wasn't around that day and wondered where the boy had gone. but she sat in content next to a boy named kaleb.

"today, you will not be forced to lose a game so that humans can feel superior" the headmaster spoke as he walked forward with a weird shaped ball in his hand. styx didn't like him. his face made her uncomfortable.

"everyone of you is special. everyone of you... and it's time you showed it!" apparently this deserved claps from some of the more gullible looking children.

josie stood from her chair abruptly as she looked quite against what the man said "how?"

"by using your powers in moderation miss saltzman" josie looked annoyed. "when the goal is not exposure, merely to win" heracles clapped obnoxiously earning a scowl from the demon. "think of it as an exercise in control"

"well i am here for it" kaleb said clapping as he stood up and looked around at the students, styx so badly wanted to pull him back down, but it wasn't her place. "after last year, we're really gonna show those timber wolves what we're all about" he spoke earning a few yells of encouragement.

"and who better to lead you in this endeavour as you're quarterback, and our own landon kirby" the man said throwing the ball towards the curly haired phoenix who styx had heard so much about. he wasn't that impressive in her opinion and remembered him as the boy that broke hope's heart.

the boy barely even caught the ball earning concerned glances from his current girlfriend, josie and his friend, milton greasley. lizzie had informed her on how the boy used to have a large crush on the girl. she was sure heracles would want to get involved, and found this would be good entertainment.

――――

she herself wore a sky blue and white stallions jumper with a yellow skater skirt and a pair of white trainers. she hated it. she wouldn't be playing but lizzie insisted she'd dress up. and she wasn't in the mood to argue with the blonde who she learned was quite the problem causer.

she now sat on lizzie's bed with her head resting against her silk covered pillows, the blonde sat in the corner reading a book. but their silence was interrupted by milton.

"we have an emergency, headmaster vardemus wants landon to play qb" it was though he didn't even notice styx, but the dark magic she radiated was sure to grab his attention soon enough.

"cool" lizzie said not even giving a second thought as she seemed interested in the book she read. styx noticed the cover was on greek mythology and she internally laughed. heracles.

"cool! that's your slot" milton complained causing lizzie to shut the boy turning her eyes to the boy.

"i'm hunting bigger games here" she admitted as milton sighed. styx was confused on what was going on before her eyes.

"that heracles guy you're crushing on" milton asked although he knew. lizzie's eyes instantly snapped to styx as the dark haired brunette made her way to sit on the arm of lizzie's chair.

"she's been thinking about it all night. just because we so randomly showed up the way we did, she thinks we're planning something" she said as the words left a bitter taste in her mouth. lizzie was just trying to find a way to speak to the boy, and needed to make her the enemy to do it.

but lizzie liked styx. she liked how the girl was an even bigger bitch than herself. it was toxic. she liked her because she made her look like a nicer person, but she also liked her because styx didn't care for her being a bitch. styx would find herself defending the blonde when she heard someone speak ill of her. even though she claimed they weren't friends.

"given the events of our last school year" the blonde explained as she got up to retrieve a book she borrowed from the library.

"compendium monstrum?" milton asked grabbing the book "you think they're monsters?" he asked as though he forgot styx was right there.

"i'm thinking i can't rule it out" she admitted as she turned to styx "although i'll tell you now, she is a demon" lizzie smirked as she referred to her personality.

"glad you know it" styx smirked as her eyes turned their horrifying flaming orange making milton's widen in fear. she loved the power she exuded and wanted everyone to know now to underestimate her.

"so, sorry. but this is way more important than football" lizzie half apologised as she didn't really care. this was another reason styx let her stick around, she didn't commit unless it benefited her. meaning she'd drop styx sooner or later. or so she thought. "even though i'm awesome at it" she gloated.

"landon pulled his groan combing his hair once, we need you at the game" mg begged as styx stiffled her laughter.

"mg, i am mentally healthy for perhaps the first time in my life. and, for romance and friendship" lizzie argued as she began to pick up her bag and books. styx standing ready to follow the girl. "i'm hoping that heracles pans out, but if he doesn't. i need to set my sights on someone else"

"like, uh.. who"? mg asked as he let a curious glance take over, him licking his lips in anticipation.

"the first person that asks" lizzie said with a small smile as she looked back at him. styx had a burning feeling to keep her newly found vampire sebastian far away from the blonde as possible. "it's the year of yes, remember" she said before walking out.

styx walked alongside the girl quietly before milton ran out "well in that case, two sides of vice are better than one. especially if one of them can vampereat so come to the game. i'll help you with the books and we can figure out what this guy really is" styx turned to lean her back against the wall as lizzie slowed down.

"part of me is worried about what we might find out" lizzie admitted making styx speak up.

"dear, he's a demi- god not a monster that'll eat your brains" styx scoffed, she may not be heracles friend but she knew better.

lizzie had basically forced the girl to watch two seasons of the walking dead with her as the girls completed homework, styx had even fallen asleep in the girls room by her window. it was a sight to say the least. but she still refused to admit they were friends.

"and you're meant to be saying yes, remember" styx called the girl out.

"uh, fine! yes" lizzie gave in begrudgingly as she glared at styx. the brunette however was ready to turn her frown into a look of urgency.

"and heracles is playing,, dear. better be ready" she added before winking at her blonde friend and beginning to make her way out to the field where the game would be held.

――――

the girl sat on the bleachers as she watched the cheerleader warm up and the team do their own thing. landon had just thrown the ball making it hit into the other schools glass causing it to crack. "damn! that's my quarterback" kaleb half joked making the girl give him an amused stare.

she could see her pretty red headed friend, hope and the twins father alongside many others leave the bus. there was a tanned girl with raven curly hair that caught her eye, she seemed interesting but besides the rest they all seemed boring.

"here to cheer me on?" heracles asked happily as he plopped down beside the girl causing her to jump a little as she turned to face him.

"in your dreams" she muttered as she watched him tie his shoe lace, he seemed to be struggling to get it to stay and it was annoying her.

"you dimwit, put your foot up" she growled as he did what she said instantly. he knew better than to defy her, knowing his father wasn't around this time to resurrect him.

she did his lace quick before pushing his foot away, he was grinning largely at her "you're finally warming up, took you a few years" he nearly yelled before jumping up.

"don't get used to it" she rolled her eyes before staring at him as an indication for him to disappear. he caught on and waved before making his way tot he field.

she didn't understand why he still tried. she had made it painfully obvious multiple times she wasn't trying to be his friend. but maybe the god part of the boy wanted to prove her wrong, that he would be her friend in the end.

the game started shortly and the students stood along the line as vardemus walked the front line, she could see hope's uncomfortable face next to the curly haired girl. she then shook landon's hand and she could see the shock they both felt. josie however didn't look happy.

styx sat and thought to herself, she could cheer hope on and sit at the front moping. she pushed all her morals to the side as she stood and cupped her mouth. "go, hope!" she nearly screamed as the salvatore school students looked at her questioningly.

they thought she was only friends with lizzie and jed and had no clue she'd be friends with a girl from the human school. however hope gave her a happy smile as she waved to the girl. styx thought that was all she'd do to support her friend for the day.

she got herself comfortable for the next hour and a half of the game she'd have to endure, the game went on with the timber wolves winning but the stallions had begun to catch up. she could tell they were using magic and shot up when seeing landon tackle hope.she sent a harsh shock to the boy causing josie and landon to give her a glare and a shocked look.

hope sat on the floor clutching her ankle as landon helped her up. she had certainly hurt herself as she walked off the field towards alaric before going to enter the school. she could also see landon and josie in an arguement, she was starting to dislike the brunette saltzman girl heavily. she could care less if she was lizzie's twin, if she tried to hurt hope. she'd kill her.

――――

after sitting through the break inside wit the school she was now sat with lizzie on the bench as the blonde read a book. milton had began begging lizzie to participate and one look from heracles had her up and motivated. however styx's attention was stolen as the vampire walked out of the woods.

they made very intense eye contact as the boy watched her, she tilted her head and she had no clue what to do. she could leave and follow him or stay and be left wondering what could've happened. milton noticed her stare and turned his head to see nothing. he was confused as the girl hadn't turned.

she decided she'd stay put and watch over lizzie before following after a boy. she wasn't lizzie's friend but she would still stay and support the blonde. but tragedy soon struck one of the mystic falls high students as when he caught the ball his arm twisted into an unruly position, all in favour from josette saltzman.

everyone now stood surrounded by an ambulance as they watched the boy be rolled away, the curly haired girl and a cop accompanying him. she guessed family or girlfriend but didn't think too much into it. soon enough everyone had sprang out into fights as alaric had punched vardemus first. she decided she'd rather not be involved and after throwing a glance to see heracles removing lizzie from the fights she felt it was okay to leave, to find a certain blue eyed boy.

she trailed down the basement stairs as a shiver went through her core at the atmosphere down there, it sure felt like hades. as she made her final step down she could see the back of the boy walking away before he began climbing the other stairs.

"sebastian" she called out but he didn't turn "i'm speaking to you!" she whispered harshly as she followed after him. only then did he stop.

"goddess, are you following me?" he sighed not turning to face her. it annoyed her, she wanted his attention on her when speaking to him.

"i told you, call me by my name" she muttered in annoyance as she walked closer, he let an amused smirk cross his face at how easily annoyed he made her.

"i am not most people" he threatened as he slowly turned, he looked angry. "which is why i told you, we cannot go down this path" he complained.

"no one ever said we we're going down that path, slow your roll" she laughed with an eye roll and she tilted her head back. she felt the air around her move as he now stood in front of her.

she was too focused on the blue eyed vampire to notice the footsteps ascending downstairs, milton was curious on lizzie's new friend and needed to know what the girl was up to in the school's basement.

sebastian lifted his hand and traced his finger against her jaw, causing her to slap it away. "you remind me of someone" sebastian whispered as his breath hit her neck, if she was anyone else she would've let her heart speed up at the action.

"don't think you could ever find someone like me" she challenged as she tilted her head to the side, to milton she spoke to complete air but seemed to entranced by whatever she thought was there.

styx watched the dimples become prominent as he smiled at her, she crossed her arms defensively as he scrunched his eyebrows at her actions. " you are something, aren't you?" he admitted. she wasn't like his first love, but she did have most traits. and it drew him in.

"i once thought that she was the most beautiful, young woman i would ever see" he spoke with a distant look in his eyes, styx scoffed not at all moved.

"is that line supposed to work on me?" she thought it was hilarious, she had known him for two days and found herself drawn to talk to him.

"either way, it is a line we cannot cross" he shook his head as he stepped away from her and turned his back. she was sick of him turning his back on her.

"i say when the line is meant to be crossed" she argued as she reached forward and grabbed his wrist turning his body harshly so he faced her once again.

he didn't know whether or not he liked the way she was defying him, but he certainly found himself entranced by her. he would let her control him if it meant she'd stay around.

"you really bewitch me, styx" he said finally using her name, he seemed desperate to get away from her as he would hurt her without meaning to do so.

"well duh, as lizzie says i am a witch" she spoke as she turned her tone to match the blondes. she found it ironic how the girls words had come back to bite her in the ass.

sebastian walked closer to the girl as he held his head high, his blue eyes tracing over her features taking in every part of her possible. she slightly began to move back and she was unsure of what he'd do. "what is up with this whole monster vibe?" she asked curiously as he didn't seem offended.

"i am a monster" he whispered as she rolled her eyes and began circling her "i am a vampire" he spoke slowly as she wanted to throw her hands in the air.

"i know that you idiot!" she said as black veins appeared under his eyes before she began to stifle her laugh a bit. he looked confused before she continued. "my friend is a vampire" she said referring to hope.

he was quite annoyed that she wasn't cowering in fear. he was the creature from history books that people were meant to stay away from. but then again, she wasn't just anybody. no, she was a demon or a goddess. and both were equally core- rattling.

"are we to just be friends?" he asked as he stepped closer to her, their faces inches apart. the girl forgot everything she stood for as she stared up at him.

"we're to be whatever we want" she shrugged before her voice became lower "anyway, friends don't get to do this" she finished before she pushed her lips against his, they were soft she noted.

she couldn't believe she was doing this. she was against this she thought. she hadn't even planned on making friends and now she was in the basement of a school she never wanted to attend with a vampire she had met two days ago who seemed to be from a different time period.

the boy didn't pull away as she moved her hands to wrap around his neck. his arms moving to settle on either side of her waist. his fingers pushed roughly into her waist as though he were trying to mark her as his property. and in that moment she wasn't too worried.

milton stared confused and freaked out as she made out with the air like it was normal.

after few more seconds of the breathless kiss she pulled away, her arms stayed where they were as he dropped his. she found herself staring into his eyes as he stared into hers. a grin broke out on his face before he spoke in a hushed whisper.

"you have very pretty eyes" he complimented before she laughed slightly and rolled her head back.

"i have a very pretty everything" she said as the narcissist came out, he found himself wanting to pull away at her arrogance but the alluring aura she held made him stay.

it was strange to say the least. a boy who hadn't expected to ever be kissing a goddess from hell who defied everything he saw fit for a girl. and a girl who considered herself a demon who hated any emotion other than loneliness stood with her arms wrapped around his neck. the two only occupied by each others presences to notice the other vampire sneaking out.
