♙CHAPTER TWO♙
( STYX KRONIŌN )
ONE: WHY DO I FEEL LIKE THIS?
styx wasn't entirely sure when her classes were to start, but she was told to go find lizzie and josie saltzman so they could show her around. the girl would've rather stayed in her room all day doing nothing but the new headteacher vardemus was pestering her. he made the girl feel unsettled, and she was the goddess of misery.
she had found the girls room but failed to notice the body in front of her, it was too late and they collided causing her to lose her balance and fall to the floor. "oh, my bad new chick" kaleb apologised sticking his hand out for the girl to take.
only she ignored his help and mumbled a quick "it's okay" before not bothering to make eye contact with him again and walking into the twins room.
"this is my semester of yes, and i am available for literally anything" the platinum blonde witch smiled towards the other girl in the room, who styx guessed was her sister.
"guess that means you're up for showing me around" the goddess smirked as she leaned on the door frame of the girls room. both of them flipping their heads to face her.
"and you are?" lizzie asked raising an eyebrow as she let her words drag out waiting for an answer from the girl.
but before the goddess could answer, a masculine voice she knew too well called out her name a few steps away from her before running up to the girl he considered his bestfriend. "styx!"
"styx?" josie questioned as she stared at the blonde boy and the brunette named styx. josie was sure she had read something about the girl, or learned about her in class once.
"and who might this be?" lizzie asked with a mischievous smile as she looked heracles up and down, the boy was everything she could've dreamed of. he was simply gorgeous.
"heracles, pleasure to make your acquaintance" he said waving at both girls in the room as he stood a few metres away from styx, knowing the girls rules on distance.
"sure, i'll show you around... styx" lizzie agreed, but kept her eyes on the blonde male the whole time. but the boy was oblivious to the girls staring.
styx rolled her eyes at the blonde girls antics before walking out of the room a bit, knowing heracles would follow her. "don't do anything stupid" she whispered harshly to the boy as she grabbed the collar of his shirt pulling his face down only inches from hers.
she had only know realised the boy was in normal clothes and not his armour he wore back on olympus, it looked much better than the gold pieces of metal he wore every other day. heracles couldn't help himself but stare at the girls features considering the proximity of their faces, he would be lying if he said he had never had romantic feelings towards the girl at a point in time. but they weren't even friends in her eyes, so he knew should stop with the absurd thoughts.
that didn't mean he didn't notice the small details on the girls face, the freckles that only spotted underneath of her eyes, the small scar on top of her left eyebrow, how her top lip was slightly more chapped than the bottom. the way her bottom eyelashes were nearly as long as the top and it always made her blink more than she needed.
"you're so angelic" he let slip past his lips causing the girl to let go of his shirt quickly and take a step back, never once had he admitted his thoughts on her appearance.
"you're being weird. stop" she demanded before walking away seeing the platinum blonde witch walk out of her room, she didn't know how to respond to the boy at the moment.
――――
"so what are you?" lizzie asked as she walked next to the girl, leaving a little distance between them.
"unlike you, i'm not a noisy bitch" styx remarked to the girl, leaving the blonde with a open mouth as she stopped walking.
styx however continued down the long corridor, making lizzie run to catch up with her. "i don't know who you think you are, but no one talks to me like that!" lizzie said to the girl stopping in front of her.
"get used to it, witch" styx spat as she stared the girl down.
"you're a witch" lizzie fired back to the girl, considering she was basically right.
"demon" styx argued as she lowered her voice, she didn't like being referred to something she didn't know she was for sure.
"goddess" lizzie said remembering something about how the girl was against being associated with them
"id rather be considered a witch" styx spat out in disgust at the thought of being grouped with them, although deep down she knew it was true
"see, i win. now follow along little witch" lizzie said smiling in triumph not even having time to see the girl behind hers face.
"touche. blondie" styx said as she finally caught up to the blonde, it looked like they had made it to the end of their tour and to say that styx was disappointed by having to leave the blonde was true.
"ever need a friend, come find me" lizzie said to the girl before beginning to walk off.
styx didn't plan on making friends when she came here, she didn't plan on letting people in but apparently the gods had other plans. she found herself liking the girls personality. but as she stood surrounded by loads of students she didn't know, she felt the feeling she dreaded. the one of loneliness.
――――
the girl had walked around the school for a while longer, collecting her thoughts before she had made it back to the lounging area. she stood at the top of the small steps scanning the room for something to keep her distracted but before she could move an arm brushed against her own and the person it belonged to situated themselves next to her.
"you're the new girl, right?" jed said looking down at the girl who was quite shorter than him. the boy had seen her standing there doing nothing and thought he may as well make friends.
"styx" was all she said as she looked up at im, she didn't move though accepting the warmth his body was emitting towards her as she stood close to him. she had never let anyone be this close to her unless she initiated it, but something about the boy told her she should let him.
"jed" he smiled as he still didn't move, secretly enjoying the warmth her body was giving towards him. "want to go and get something to eat?" he asked trying to break the awkward silence between the two.
"okay" she nodded, before they began walking towards the kitchen.
――――
after spending time with jed, styx had to go through a unbearable assembly with the headmaster and the other students. and since she wasn't in the mood to make anymore friends she thought the one place she could get away would be the mill.
she was secretly hoping to see the boy from yesterday. sebastian. the boy had been consuming her thoughts the whole day. although when she had gotten there the whole room was covered with candles, she guessed someone was meant to have a date or something. but she also saw a map on the table. so a witch had tried a locating spell.
"hello, styx" a british accent said as sebastian showed up out of nowhere with the wind near the girl, giving her his signature broody stare.
"you, again?" she asked acting as though she didn't want to see him
"ah, you're a witch" he stared at the girl before smiling as he walked closer to the map in front of styx. it must've looked like she was doing the locator spell.
"you know what i am, sebastian. and you're clearly a vampire, since you've gotten through the magical defences of this school twice now" the girl said walking to the other side of the table so that she wasn't too close to the boy when he got there.
the boy didn't say anything as he stared at the pretty girl across from him, he let another smile take over his face before he looked down at the map. "what were you looking for?" he questioned avoiding her statement.
"wasn't me looking" she stated, although it looked like she was lying as she stood in front of the map when he arrived.
"we all know you were hoping for something to turn up" he said walking closer to the girl so he was now on the same side of the table as her.
"if you're not a student, what are you doing here?" styx asked trying to get something out of the boy. he opened his arms as if it were obvious.
"i came to see you, cause i have a request" he said, his voice coming out of his lips smoothly.
"and what might that be?" she was now intrigued by the mysterious boy in front of her, she leaned over so their faces were inches apart as she waited.
"stop thinking about me" he whispered, his breath hitting her cheek.
"i am not!" she shrieked in annoyance as she maintained eye contact, not wanting the boy to think she was obsessed with him.
"you're drawn to me i can feel it, i'm drawn to you too. but you shouldn't let me get too close" he said as he stood up and continued walking around the table. the girl also standing up
"even if that were true, why is that?" she pestered, she needed him to answer her honestly.
"you seem like a nice girl, and my life is shall we say... complicated" he said vamp speeding so he was now next to her again leaning his shoulder against her analysing the side of her face as she looked down, letting a chuckle pass her lips.
"who said i was looking for easy" she said finally turning her head to meet his. brown meeting blue and orange flecks started dancing around her iris'.
he let another smile quickly grace his face before tiling his head, keeping the eye contact both were scared to break. "goodbye styx" he said before beginning to walk away.
"oh and by the way, i'm not sure who the boy you were with earlier was but he's not good enough" he said staring at the girl as he stood still. he may have just given away the fact he was watching her but he didn't care.
"and you are?" she laughed as he ignored her and continued walking out. she waited for his heavy footsteps to get away before letting out a breath and falling back leaning on the table.
this boy was the reason she was becoming softer each day she stayed on earth, he was opening her emotions to things she never knew before and she hated it. she hated feeling things. but he made her want to feel everything there was to experience.
――――
styx hadn't let her spot at the mill, but she felt a tugging in her chest that she needed to be somewhere else. the girl closed her eyes hoping she could get a glance of where but when she opened them again she was in the corridor of another school?
when she turned around trying to figure out where she was met with the face of hope, the girl from the park yesterday. "you needed me, didn't you?" styx said already knowing the girls answer.
"i need support" hope said as she walked closer to the brunette, it looked like the straw-berry blonde girl had been crying again.
"lead the way, and i'll stand by you" styx said cautiously grabbing the girls hand, she was hesitant to let it wrap around hers but hope did it for her.
styx hated how she had let herself grow close to the smaller girl in the short two days she had been on earth. she didn't like the feeling knowing that she was growing attached. it seemed like hope had been the first person to see that styx, was a real person. she was a girl that let herself feel things.
hope lead them to an office with the light on and walked in first letting the brunette trail behind. a man with a beard and a tie sat writing at his desk.
"uhm, my names not hope marshall. it's hope mikaelson. im klaus and hayley's daughter." the statement caused the man to stand up with wide eyes.
"and i know you don't remember this-" the girl stopped herself as her voice cracked, although styx squeezed her hand letting her know to continue. "but, uhm, you're the closest thing i have to a father now. and the entire world had forgotten that i exist." she said letting a tear drop down her cheek.
styx knew in this moment, that hope did need her. and that the story she was hearing was much bigger than this one girl she had known for a few hours.
"and the boy i loved has moved on. so, i have absolutely, no idea, what to do next" she sniffled as she tried to not let the tears in her eyes fall any longer
the man walked closer to her breathing out "it's okay, we'll figure it out togethar" taking one step closer to hope before hope let go of styx's hand and wrapped her arms around the man. he stood shocked for a moment before wrapping his arms around her.
as styx's watched the two she truly wondered what it was like to have someone love you or to love someone deeply enough that although you don't remember them you'd still be willing to stand by their side. it was something the girl thought she wanted to feel.
