'✦ ˑ ִֶ 𓂃⊹ THEY GOT BACK TO ELENA'S HOUSE, they planned to eat and then Stefan would take Brooke home, but plans change. As they entered, they heard a loud yelp and a thud, Elena immediately rushing into the kitchen whilst Brooke and Stefan exchanged looks before following after her.

"What's going on?" Elena asked, finding the two Donovan siblings stood in her living room doorway and her younger brother on the floor, as if he'd been pushed. Brooke moved forwards as Matt explained, offering her hand to Jeremy, who gratefully accepted, allowing her to help him up.

"She's really messed up." Matt told them, speaking about Vicki, and Stefan now moved forwards towards the Donovan girl, gently moving Elena out of the way.

"Elena, back up. Vicki, look at me." Stefan placed his hand on Vicki's cheek, a look of concentration in his eyes as he stared into hers, searching for any signs of vampirism and to his dismay, he found what he was looking for. He whispered to her and suddenly Vicki was calm, "Guys, take her up to bed. Shut the blinds. She's gonna be okay. Come on."

Matt grabbed ahold of Vicki and led her down the hallway towards Jeremy's bedroom and Jeremy followed after reluctantly, a tired expression on his face. Before he completely left Brooke's grasp, she patted him on the back, giving him some sort of silent reassurance.

Elena stood in the kitchen as Stefan led them out, a hand on her forehead, she seemed shocked if anything and Brooke strolled forwards, stuffing her hands in her leather jacket pockets. The Elliot girl watched as Stefan re—entered the kitchen, Elena's eyes widening, "You know what's wrong with her?"

"I bet she's a vampire." Brooke mumbled with a shrug, becoming considerably less interested in the whole supernatural drama as every day went by. Stefan's eyes flickered over to her and that signalled Elena's reaction, her eyebrows furrowing.

"Is she a vampire?" Elena questioned, almost demanding that he answered and he let out a sigh, moving closer to the younger cousin, extremely close.

"She's transitioning." He informed her and Brooke blew all of the air in her mouth to her cheeks, visibly exhausted.

"Called it." She mumbled and Elena rolled her eyes, turning around to look at her cousin with a unamused expression.

"Brooke, this is not the time for your witty comments." Elena snapped and with her back to her, Brooke scrunched up her face, holding back from yelling in her face. It also wasn't the time to be horrible to one another for no reason whatsoever... "She's transitioning to a vampire?"

"Yeah, Damon must have gotten to her." Stefan held the same fatigued look, unable to focus on Elena's fave so his eyes kept flickering over to Brooke mindlessly, "She's new. She hasn't completed her transformation yet."

"H—how does she do that?" Elena asked, stuttering on her words out of what looked to be not only frustration, but worry or concern too, and maybe even anger.

Brooke moved forward once a few seconds went by, noticing Stefan was reluctant to answer the simple question and she picked up an apple from the fruit bowl on the island, feeling peckish, "She has to feed on human blood." She informed her cousin, whose head snapped over to her, eyes wide and Elena watched as Brooke left the room, heading up the stairs to find Matt, Vicki and Jeremy.

Vicki was laying on Jeremy's bed when Brooke entered, Jeremy was sat on the end of it, his fingers stroking through her hair in the dark room and Matt stood to the side, his arms crossed over his chest and his eyes watching her intently, he must've been confused about everything.

They all rapidly looked over when the sound of biting into an apple sounded in the doorway and she externally paused, her eyes widening ever so slightly, "Sorry." She mumbled, mouth full of apple and Matt felt the corners of his lips upturn, he wasn't feeling the best watching his sister slowly become insane but he knew his best—friend would always be able to get him to smile, most of the time unintentionally.

He walked over to her, leading her out to the hallway and once they were out of Vicki and Jeremy's sight, Matt engulfed Brooke in a tight bear hug, he was clearly scared. She pressed her lips into a thin line, embracing him tightly in return with her hand holding the apple resting on his back.

They stayed in that position for quite a while, Brooke was reluctant to pull back in case he needed more time, she wanted her best—friend to be as comfortable as possible whilst his sister is going through a crisis but, things never go her way. A cleared throat brought them from their embrace, and they both pulled away, looking over at Elena, who stood at the top of the stairs, an awkward look on her face.

"Is she in there with Jeremy?" Elena pointed over at Jeremy's room and Brooke nodded, expecting Elena to go check on them but instead, the Gilbert stayed in place, forcing a smile onto her lips, "I'm making tea, come down." Elena waved them over to her and she headed back down the stairwell, the two slowly following after.

But, just as they entered the kitchen, a loud thud was heard and they spun around, watching as Vicki rushed down the stairs, jacket in hand, "Vick!" Matt called out, speeding after her but she was gone before he could catch up to her, "Vicki!"

He ran outside, Brooke hot on his tail whilst the rest of them trailed behind, her eyes scanning the empty street for the brunette, but she was nowhere in sight, "Who is she? Flash? How did she get away that fast?" The Elliot girl asked, not expecting an answer to her question because she knew nobody would know how Vicki just vanished out of thin air, she was a transitioning vampire, she couldn't run that fast yet, right?

"She was fine, and then she just freaked out!" Jeremy's loud voice sounded from behind them and Brooke turned around to look at him, a sympathetic expression on her face. She could tell he was internally shitting himself.

"I'm gonna go look for her. Call me if you hear anything." Matt rushed off towards his car which was parked up front and Brooke glanced back at Stefan, who whispered something to Elena before approaching the Elliot girl.

"What's going on?" Brooke asked as Stefan gently grabbed ahold her elbow, pulling her down the sidewalk and she tugged her arm from his grip, furrowing her brows up at him in confusion, causing them to come to a halt.

"I can track Vicki but there's a chance she won't listen to me when I find her... She'll listen to you." Stefan informed her and Brooke nodded slowly, her eyes drifting to the ground in thought but then she remembered that Vicki wasn't a human anymore, she was a bloodsucking vampire who could die if she didn't feed on human blood.

"Okay, but what if she eats me?" Brooke's eyes snapped back up to Stefan's, worry evident in her eyes and he shook his head, turning to walk again.

"I won't let that happen." He spoke, his tone deep and serious, and Brooke stood there for a moment, attempting to comprehend all of the information she'd been given that day, much like the day she'd learnt about vampires. But, she knew she had to find Vicki before she did something she would regret, and the Donovan would most definitely not listen to Stefan, so Brooke found herself sprinting after Stefan, eventually catching up to him with a nudge of her arm.

"The dream team." Brooke forced a grin in attempt to be positive, but both of them knew that there was a huge chance this whole situation could end badly.

THEY SPENT ALMOST FOREVER LOOKING FOR VICKI, searching in every store and down every alleyway, and eventually, they searched the woods and Brooke somehow heard the girl before Stefan did. Quiet sobbing could be heard near the cemetery and Brooke slowly approached, Stefan hot on her tail.

Vicki was sat up against a pillar, crying her eyes out in the darkness and once Brooke caught sight of her friend, she rushed up to her, wanting nothing more than to hug her but she knew that it was dangerous to do so. As an alternative, Brooke kneeled down before the Donovan girl, a reassuring smile on her face whilst Stefan stood just behind her, watching intently.

"Vicki?" Brooke's voice was gentle, soft, enough to make Vicki aware of her presence but also enough to not scare the living hell out of the already fearful girl. Vicki looked up at her from her knees, teary eyed and shook to the ends of the earth, and she looked up over Brooke's shoulder at Stefan.

"I'm starting to remember things. What he is, what he said. I remember you, the hospital, the rooftop. It's all coming back." Vicki told Stefan, her eyes flickering down to Brooke every few moments but the scent of her blood was a lot for her, it took so much restraint not to rip the human girl's head off right there and then.

"I'm so sorry, Vicki. Damon's not gonna get away with all the shit he's done." Brooke reassured her friend, making sure to keep her distance no matter how much she wanted to comfort her and Stefan took a step forwards, his leg brushing against Brooke's arm.

"He said that I needed to feed..." Vicki began to hyperventilate, to panic, "What will happen if I don't?" The question was serious, though the answer was simple and both Stefan and Brooke shared a glance, worrying Vicki all the more before Brooke cleared her throat, placing her hands on the leaf—covered ground beside her feet.

"You'll fade, Vick..." Brooke sent her a sad look as Stefan continued, his voice quiet.

"...and then it'll all just be over." He informed her and to their surprise, Vicki nodded in understanding as if she wanted to die, for all of her suffering and pain just to come to an end.

"I'll be dead." Vicki stated, her eyes glued to Brooke for an honest answer, knowing her friend wouldn't lie to her and she only began to cry more when the younger girl nodded sympathetically, feeling herself begin to cry as well, "I don't want this."

"I know, beautiful, it'll all be okay, all right?" Brooke got a little closer, her hand on Vicki's knee and Vicki sobbed quietly whilst Stefan kneeled down beside Brooke.

"I can help you." Stefan told her, looking into her eyes and Vicki shook her head.

"Is it better? Will I be better?" She asked and Brooke rubbed her thumb against Vicki's jeans, staring at the side of her face with tear—filled eyes, and deep down, she cursed Stefan for bringing her out there, she didn't want to watch her long—time friend die, "I wanna go home. Will you take me home? Please."

"Yeah, Vicki. Let's go." Brooke pushed herself up and held her hand out for the girl, who reached out to grab it only for a loud gunshot to sound out. A body fell to the ground with a thud, blood spilled all over the leaves and the only sound was Vicki's scream, her blood—curdling scream.

Crimson blood spilled from Brooke's mouth, her hand cupped over the gunshot wound in her stomach and Stefan looked over at the culprit, seeing Logan Fell with a gun aimed at him. Anger immediately took over Stefan's features, his eyes going dark, protruding veins emerging from under his eyes and his sharp fangs on show, "Oops, sorry, Brooke." Logan smirked, about to pull the trigger on Stefan but before he could, Damon emerged from the woods, sinking his teeth into Logan's neck.

"Oh, my God!" Vicki screamed again, more than enough tears to fill an ocean pouring out of her eyes as she kneeled down beside Brooke, having no idea what to do, nobody did. Stefan couldn't go near her, neither could Vicki, the two being sensitive around human blood.

Brooke only laid there, her vision becoming blurry as she stared up at the sky, continuing to cough up what looked to be now black blood. She squeezed her eyes shut in pain, feeling the wooden bullet move inside of her every time she breathed.

She smiled a little, and some would say she was psycho but she knew she was going to be with her mother, she was going to finally be happy until Damon's face came into view, her smile immediately dropping, "Well, someone's happy to see me." He spoke sarcastically whilst Brooke continued to cough up her blood, staring up at him in the most pain she'd ever experienced.

"Save her!" Stefan yelled in anger, kneeling down on the other side of Brooke in hopes he could show some restraint and Brooke's eyes drifted over to him, she shook her head in dismay.

"No..." Brooke muttered through coughs, the corners of her lips slightly upturning, "Tell Nate I love him." She whispered and she looked away from Stefan, her beautiful green eyes fixated on the stars above her which were slowly becoming blurrier by the second.

Soon, the sharp stabbing pain from the bullet in her stomach began to fade and her eyes began to flutter closed, and just before she completely faded, all she could hear was a loud scream — a male's scream.
