LOVE IS FORBIDDEN IN THE CULTURE OF THE JEDI. A singular love of devotion that is. They are encouraged to practice a universal, unbiased loveβcaring for all that come across their path. For the kind of love between entangled souls was dangerous, unpredictable, and imbued with a passion that tempted one to turn toward their darker inclinations.
Quinlan Vos was not a man that feared the dark. He embraced it and instead made it conform around his own light. He was a man confident enough in his own faith to tread the murky waters that were often considered grey areas. He was a maverick with a reputation for bending the rules. Illyana Amavia was his equal in skill yet polar opposite when it came to respecting the regulations of the Jedi Order. And yet there was a mutual attraction between them. A tension that beckoned them closer, yet also drove them further apart. There was a paradox circling them, and it was only a matter of time before they succumbed to the alluring taste.
Anakin Skywalker, the so-called chosen one. But chosen for what exactly? Each had made their own assumptions and the boy's fate was decided long before he had a chance to choose for himself. And the crushing weight of expectations can create a pressure that cracks even the strongest wills. Perhaps it was living on a planet coated in sand that eroded his walls or perhaps it was the rigid abrasion of the Jedi teachings, but the boy could only take so much. It was only a matter of time before he drifted toward someone to console his inner conflict. Sereia Cresswell, the heir of Alanis. A world covered in primarily water and where the nature of the force had yet to be corrupted. The living entity was free to remain in its purest formβunbiased by the light or dark, the one place where there was truly balance. A passionate people that lived by their emotions and were led by a queen whose connection to the Force was almost that of a mediator, a person who spoke on behalf of the entity. So it was only a matter of time before she crossed paths with the boy destined to bring balance to the Force. And a connection was formed from the moment their eyes touched and danced beneath the starlight of balance.
Ahsoka Tano, the girl in the shadow of the chosen one. It's no easy thing to be the padawan of the Jedi meant to bring balance to the force. For the expectations that overflowed from the master's cup would fall down into hers. She was meant to be a copy, a replica of a man who was far from perfect. And she was, only people noticed the cracks that had been overlooked in the first edition. Her master could get away with the misdemeanors and rash behavior because of a prophetic title. She repeated the behavior she saw and it ultimately led to her own removal from the order. It was hypocritical, yet she was the one forced to bear the consequences. Rodaas Han, the boy saved from a lifetime of slavitude only to be brought into one equally demanding of his time and free will. A child becomes like those they are raised by, and Illyana Amavia was a master that discouraged acting on impulse and emotion. Forced proximity created a bond between padawans, yet neither could act on those feelings as it would reflect poorly on themselves and the masters they desperately sought to honor.
Obi-wan Kenobi, the Jedi who insisted he lived by the rules of the Order, yet found himself with deep attachments to those around him. Love comes in a variety of shapes and sizes and sometimes familial love is the strongest. Perhaps it was this love that blinded him to the signs that bringing balance to the Force did not mean overpowering the dark with light. There was war in the galaxy, but it was this loveβand the knowledge that those closest to him were safeβthat made him overlook the suffering of the innocent lives dragged into the midst of the battle. That is until a set of specific missions dragged him through the grime and filth of the underworlds far past the outer rim. It takes a love far colder and more callous than his own to show him the faults within the Order... and that perhaps not all the rules were meant to be followed so religiously. Artora Skell, the mandalorian with a vendetta against the religious zealots all others called peacekeepers. Her home and world destroyed by a war she had no place in forces her to the outskirts of the galaxy to a collection of worlds veiled by the Force. A world where she discovers that the Force is not inherently bad or good, but the definition of its own existence has been twisted by the machinations of the beings residing within its universe. It's only after she comes face to face with a man from a belief she once despised that she begins to acknowledge how mysterious the ways of the force truly are.
Padme Amidala, the child queen of Naboo. Entrusted with the fate of her people at the ripe age of fourteen then thrust into a war that someone far older should have been leading. Yet she did not cower, nor did she flinch in the face of fear. She was a girl who knew what she wanted, and carried that mentality with her into womanhood. She understood social conventions, but she was a woman to break down walls when others could not move past the initial moment of fear. She understood right from wrong, and would not hesitate to act upon that belief... especially when it came to expressing herself. Calithea Darllavi may not have been a Jedi, but the strict structures of love were far from absent in her life. She was meant to go on and start an apprenticeship at fourteen, but was stopped by Captain Panaka and recruited into the future queen's small elite force of handmaidens. She was skeptical at first, but from the moment that she laid eyes on the queen, she understood she would lay down her life if asked. She swore an oath of devotion to the one she wanted more than anything, but understood that it was not her place to claim a queen as her own. So instead she would watch from the shadows. Protect, and smile as if her heart didn't ache every moment their eyes met.
And so there they were: starcrossed lovers desperate for the home experienced in the presence of the other. Two hearts beating as one in a perfect union of bliss. A romance for the ages: destined for one another yet torn apart by fate.
