Pietro Maximoff's "death" was scheduled. It was an important part of history. He never planned on dying, no one ever does. He wanted to live .

SHEILD had used Pietro's body for a project named T.A.H.I.T.I. He had no recollection of the events of his passing or his sister. SHEILD had implanted memories of his childhood and replaced memories of Wanda with Michael "Lemon" Murray, another subject of the project.

Lemon and Tangerine went rogue soon after they found out about being experiments and became hitmen. Later in the years, they met Venus Hart. Venus was assigned to them by her father for protection. They didn't understand why a college student like Venus needed protection but hey, it was their job to care.

It might not have been both of their jobs but Tangerine cared too much, I mean, he did marry her. She never knew what Tangerine and Lemon did for a living and it kept her alive not knowing.

Not long after getting married they had Madeleine who was the light of their lives and Lemon's partner in crime. Life has been peaceful. That was until they both got a call for the same job.
