Four
"Shit."
______
After the remaining heroes returned from the Planet Garden without the Infinity Stones, all hope vanished. Three years passed, and life on Earth took its normal course. Schools opened months after the event and many people made the best of it. Gwen was one of them, she went back to school, noticing her class was smaller and many seats were empty. Lots of lessons were taken in bigger groups, because teachers were missing.
Lots of things had changed after the event of the big battle against the mad titan. In the last 3 years, people gathered in Arenas and mourned their loved ones who were no longer there. This took place every year on the day everyone disappeared and Memorial Stones have been placed in every city of the world reminding the people to not forget them.
Gwen, now 19, was on her way to the avengers facility, walking past the Memorial Stones. She clutched her bag tight and tried to stop the tears coming out of her eyes. She crossed the street, watching how many citizens were alone, walking down the street. Gwen took out her phone and looked at the time. "Shit.", with that she run, trying not to bump into someone.
The glass door opened automatically, and the blond hero entered the facility. She greeted Happy, who gave her a small smile in return, and walked into the elevator, bringing her up to her destination, the avengers living room. With a 'bing' the doors opened, and Gwen exited the elevator, walking into the living room. She put her bag down on the floor, and went towards the kitchen.
She opened the fridge to look for something to eat. "Where have you been? You are late, young lady.", Gwen turned around to the familiar voice, a small smile gracing her lips. "Since when are you so strict, Natasha?", Natasha's hair color has changed to its normal red one, she still had blond ends of hair. She hugged the blond girl.
They both sat down and ate their Chinese take-out, talking about how their day have been. Natasha and Gwen have grown closer to each other in recent years. They had build a mother-daughter relationship in the short span of time.
"So, how's the organization?", after the event, Natasha had lead an organization that cared for orphans who lost their parents during the snap. And Gwen has helped her a few times, being an orphan herself.
Outside the sun was slowly setting and the city was immersed in a beautiful, warm orange. A touch of reddish light followed soon, and the sky turning darker and darker, letting the first stars shine. Everything seemed so peaceful, as if the infinity war never happened, as if everyone was beside them, sitting at the table with them, cracking a few jokes here and there, before going off to sleep in their bedrooms. And slowly waking up for the next day. Peter and Gwen would have been in College together with Ned and MJ, planning on their future. But that wasn't the case. And even though the sunset had let it seem it was, everyone on earth, in the whole universe, knew that it would never be that. Never be that peaceful and perfect.
Later that evening, the remaining heroes, Captain America and James Rhodes, entered the facility. Steve has started a support group, to help the people to move on, but how could he help them to move on, if he himself hasn't moved on. "Hey, we brought snacks.", Steve held the bag full of sweets and snacks.
"We thought we could watch a film.", Rhodey held up three DVD's of different movies. "This guy here,", he pointed to Steve. "Has still a lot of movies on his list, that he needs to watch.", Rhodey continued.
The four heroes sat on the couch and watched a random movie, they laughed, they cried, but they enjoyed it. This was one of the things that showed them, they could live without the pain, they all carried with them. Gwen was grateful to be a part of this family, and smiled as she watched them watching the movie. Her hand stretching forward, she took a few sour gummi bears from the bag.
Incoming call from Pepper Potts.
FRIDAY alerted them. Tony and Pepper had started to live a simple life, after they failed to bring them back. And just a year ago, Pepper was expecting a child. A girl, so beautiful and adorable, that you couldn't believe that someone like her, would have been given birth in such a devastated and cruel world. Watching her grow slowly, she resembled her mother but with the smile of her father. The married couple had given anything to have this family, and Gwen was happy for them, though she knew that Tony still missed his other kid. The one he saw begging for his life not to go. Who he had in his arms before he turned to dust.
A hologram Pepper opened up, and the movie stopped automatically. In her arms, she was holding the little one and a half year old girl, named Morgan Howard Stark. Tony has dreamt he had a kid with Pepper, and called her after Pepper's eccentric uncle. Morgan was an innocent and sweet little child. Her brown hair was short, almost touching her shoulders, and her brown puppy dog eyes were to die for.
"Hey.", Pepper said, looking at the group of four in front of her, a small smile gracing her face. She looked exhausted, but happy. "Morgan spoke her first word.", Pepper continued, her eyes gleaming with happiness.
"That's amazing. What was it?", Gwen had jumped down from the couch getting nearer the projection, trying to look at Morgan's face.
"She said 'Dada'.", Pepper replied, turning Morgan to her side, showing her face to Gwen.
"I wish I could visit you, but I have a lot to do.", Gwen answered, as Natasha approached her from behind.
"We would love to see you again, Gwen.", Natasha squeezed Gwen's shoulder softly, a smile gracing her face.
Natasha watched the little human being, a tears slipping out of her eye. "I really want to hold her.", she said. The former spy knew that she would never have a child on her own. But seeing Pepper happy with this miracle of a child, made her heart bloom with happiness. She just wished that she would have given the chance to just hold one baby. Just one. That's all she asked for.
"How's Tony?", Steve asked, since they brought Tony back from space, they hadn't talked with each other. Just the argument, before the billionaire had collapsed, was the only talk they ever had.
"Steve, Tony's fine. He enjoys his life her and everything's fine. You don't need to worry. I just wish he wouldn't be that stubborn.", Pepper said, and she gave him a reassuring smile.
"I do hope you all are doing good? I need to bring her back to sleep, it's past her bed time.", Pepper looked down, facing her child, who was slowly drowning in the world of dreams.
"I hope to see you guys again, you can call whenever you want.", Rhodey said, and with that the group said their goodbyes to Pepper and the baby before the hologram vanished.
Gwen also wished them a goodnight, before leaving the room. She entered her bedchamber, and changed her cloths into some comfy PJs before she climbed into her bed, and laying there for a few minutes. 'I do hope that they are somewhere, and not really dead.', Gwen thought before her eyelids got heavier and heavier. The sleep took her completely into the world of dreams.
Meanwhile in an apartment in Queens, a woman in her mid- 40s was sitting on her couch. The only sound in the whole apartment was the static of the TV after May had played a Videotape of Peter, Ben and her. Hot salty tears were running down her cheeks, as her sight got blurry. The young hero's aunt was alone. She missed her nephew. He was the only person that made her wake up in the morning and now he was gone.
Her phone next to her rang, and May wiped the dried tears away. "Hello?", her voice broke down.
"May, it's me Harold Hogan.", a small smile forced itself on her lips.

Hey,
chapter four had a time jump of three years. Morgan, my cute little cinnamon roll, is just one and a half years old. And Gwen is comfortable with her new family.
I've totally forgot about May, and I feel horrible about that. How could I forget the only living relativ that Peter has. His only family he has left. You can hate on me now, and I'm so sorry about that.
I still hope you enjoyed this chapter, it was more a chapter of comfort. Anyway, it would mean a lot to me, if you vote and comment on this chapter.
Hope life's treating you well, see you in the next chapter.
Bye
