Peter opened his eyes, still dazed from last night, but ready to start a new day. He knew that lying to his friends was more than wrong, but he couldn't just say 'Hey I'm not going home, May didn't burn anything, I'm just going to fight some crime in Riverdale at late night as Spider-man', right?

Peter started to get up, then he remembered the guy from last night and thought to himself

Peter: (I have to start digging to discover who that guy is, and maybe I will find out why does he do what he does too.)

Flashback, the night before

Peter: *ding* "Oops, sorry guys, May just sent me a message...argh, she just burned the chicken she was cooking. I'll have to take home the burgers. See you tomorrow at school?"

Harry: "Sure man, see you!"

Betty: "Bye Peter."

Gwen: *hugs him* "See you tomorrow, Peter."

Peter: *hugs back* "See you too tomorrow, Gwen." *breaks hug*

Archie: "Bye."

Peter: "Bye guys!" *goes to Pop to take something, then goes away*

Once he got out of Pop's, Peter checked his phone and saw the police emergency: someone was robbing an Oscorp's van full of technology, that was being transported to the main structure in New York.

Peter: "Time to Spider-up."

Peter ran into an alley, he took off his clothes, staying in his Spider suit, then he put on his web-shooters, his gloves and his mask. Then he took his clothes and webbed them up on the wall. Then he jumped up on the roof and looked at his surroundings, looking for the van

Spider-man: "Alright little van, where are you?"

Suddently he saw something strange flying up in the sky far from him.

Spider-man: "What the...?"

He lost no time and started swinging from building to building towards the flying thing. As he got near he saw it was a man with big wings.

Spider-man: "What is happening around here?"

Peter saw the flying man getting down in the street, so he swung up on a roof to observe what was he doing

???: "Mason, do you hear me?...This is a huge cargo, we will have the biggest high-tech we've ever had."

Spider-man: (okay so, apparently, this guy is working with someone named Mason, and he has already took down the Oscorp van, I should've been faster...well, let's go chatting with Birdie)

Peter jumped down and shot a web, then he swung towards the guy and, with both his feet, kicked him and send him in the wall

Spider-man: "Hi there Pingeon, didn't your pingeon mommy told you that stealing is wrong?"

???: "Spider-man!"

Spider-man: "Yeah, it's me Pingy."

Vulture: "The name's Vulture, and you committed your last mistake!"

Vulture flew fast towards Spider-man, but he jumped over him, putting his hands on the head of the flying guy and pushing, doing a somersault and landing gracely on the street, facing the wing-guy.

Spider-man: "Hey c'mon Pingy, if you behave I may have some bread for you, what do you say?"

Vulture: "I say you've talked enough!"

Vulture flew up in the air and then nose-dived towards Spider-man, propelling his wings to strike him deadly, but Spider-man jumped back and flipped, landing safely on the wall, while Vulture destroyed a small area of the street

Spider-man: "No! Bad! Bad Pingy! No bread for you!"

Then Spider-man used a web to propell himself to Vulture, Spidey went for a punch, but Birdie dodged it and spinned, hitting Spider-man with one of his wings, but he landed gracely on the ground and then shot two webs on the guy, but he cut those with his wings. Police sirens were heard in the distance, that alerted both.

Spider-man wasn't liked by the police, he was considered an illegal vigilante, so they tried every occasion to put him behind bars, and the Register, the local newspaper, didn't improve the situation: Alice Cooper, Betty's mother, was like a she-devil determined to put him behind bars, and it's strange when you think that she liked Peter Parker, but hated Spider-man, it's what Peter called 'The Parker luck'.

Vulture flew up in the air, but before escaping he said something to Spider-man

Vulture: "Seems like our little chat will continue the next time, Spider-man, and it will end there!"

Spider-man: "It's official: you won't recieve bread from me, Pingy!"

Vulture: "The name's Vulture!"

Said Pingy before flying away. Spider-man too had to go away from there, so he lost no time and swung far from there before the police could see him.

Arrived on his house's roof with his clothes inside a web bag, he checked if Betty's curtains were closed, and they were, so he climbed down, opened his window and got inside his room, closing slowly the curtains behind him and the door too, trying to make the less noise possible he got down on the ground and, by pressing the Spider emblem on his chest, removed the costume, then he put it inside a secret compartment inside his closet, and put his normal clothes inside his normal compartments of his closet, getting rid of the web bag, then he put on some pyjamas and went to bed, thinking to himself

Peter: (who the hell was that guy, and what does he wanna do with all the tech he stole? Guess I'm gonna discover this tomorrow, I'm dead tired.)

Present day

May: "Peter, get up! It's the first day of school: you can't be late!"

Peter: "I'm already up, May!"

Peter thought for a moment to wear his suit under his clothes, but remembering the last night experience he checked the window before doing anything: the curtains were still closed. Aknowledged this he took his remote he turned on the stereo speakers he built and installed in his room and put on some music while getting ready. He showered and then put on his suit, over it he put on some clothes.

Wearing baggy clothes was a good way to hide his fit body and to not be discovered. After getting ready he turned off the music, headed downstares and had breakfast: toast, bacon and scrambled eggs; then he kissed May's cheek and got out. Once out he took his earbuds and listened to one of his favourite songs

There was something about this song that moved something inside of him, making him believe for a short bit that he got no problems in his life, he didn't know how to explain this sensation, but he loved it.

It wasn't a complicated route to Riverdale High, so Peter was there in no time. As soon as he got there he heard a car's honk, a car that was coming from his right. Peter hurried up and crossed the road

Flash: "What's up Penis Parker?"

For Peter's immense joy it was Flash, who just wanted to scare him, but Peter was just annoyed. Before he could get inside he saw a friendly face

Harry: "Hey Pete!"

Peter: "Harry, man!"

They shook hands like the bros they were

Harry: "So Flash's still the same, isn't he?"

Peter: "I guess some things never change, Harry."

Harry: "Speaking about 'change', do you think we'll meet that latina girl of yesterday? What's her name...?"

Peter: "Veronica."

Harry: *laughing and teasing* "Oh, so you DO remember!"

Peter: *laughing* "Yeah yeah, let's get inside!"

???: "Harry!"

Peter and Harry turned around

Harry: "Dad, hey!"

Norman: "I think you'll need this at school." *holding Harry's backpack*

Harry: "Oh yeah, thanks."

Norman: *smiling and extending hand* "Peter, it's always good to see you!"

Peter: "Hi, Mr. Osborn." *shaking his hand*

Norman: "Oh c'mon, how long have we known eachother? Norman is good."

Peter: *chuckling* "Yeah, I guess you can say that."

Norman: "So, a new start for everyone, huh?"

Peter: "Yeah, I mean, every year can be a fresh start if you're changed."

Norman: "Wise words, Peter. You know, I only wish Harry had your same wisdom..."

Harry: "Yeah, thanks dad..."

Peter: "Oh no, Mr. Osborn, I assure you that Harry is a person who gives all he's got in everything! I'm not that special."

Norman: "Nonsense, Peter! Men like us don't have to be modest, those like us are meant for great things in life. I'm sure you'll have a bright future."

Peter: "Thanks, Mr. Osborn."

Norman: "Norman. Tell me, how are the things after what happened before Summer?"

Peter: "I won't lie: it's hard. You know, not seeing him having breakfast with us, not hearing his wise speeches...I...it's..." *a tear slipped from his eyes*

Harry, seeing this, put a hand on Peter's shoulder, comforting him. Norman, instead, pulled Peter into a hug and rubbed and patted his back with his hand.

Norman: "I know, son. When Harry's mother died we went through a tough period. Just know that if you ever need anything, even talk..." *breaking the hug and handing him a card* "...feel free to call me anytime, okay?"

Peter: *wiping tear* "Yeah, thanks Mr.- Norman."

Norman: *smiling* "Sure, kid. Now go, you two: you don't wanna be late on your first day."

Peter: "Yeah, right. Bye Norman!"

Harry: "Bye dad!"

Norman: "Bye guys!"

While Peter and Harry had their conversation with Norman, Betty saw Peter crying and felt her heart sink at that view, but unfortunately she couldn't stop: she had to give the tour to Veronica. She stepped inside the school and noticed a few boys speaking while reading a newspaper from the Register

Boy1: "Unbelievable! How can this guy just walk in and steal what he wants?!"

Boy2: "You mean 'swing'."

Boy1: "Yeah, right."

Boy3: "The police does the impossible to catch him, we can only hope that sheriff Keller and captain Stacy do it soon."

She couldn't read properly, so she borrowed it for a moment to read the title:

"SPIDER-MAN STEALS TECH FROM OSCORP!"

Betty knew that news was false: she saw Spider-man in action and he wasn't a criminal. She wanted to stop all of this false news, or at least fight them, but she didn't know how.

Betty continued walking in the corridor until she arrived in principal Waterbee's office, she knocked the door

Waterbee: "Come in!"

Betty came in and greeted both the principal and Veronica, who was sitting there waiting. After a bit the girls got out of the office and started talking

Betty: "So I usually start off my tours
with a little history and context: Riverdale High first opened its doors
in 1941, and-"

Veronica cut her short, interrupting her

Veronica: "And hasn't been redecorated since, apparently. Honestly, I feel like I'm wandering through the lost epilogue of 'Our Town'."

Betty chuckled at the joke

Veronica: "So, what's the social scene like here? Any nightclubs?"

After she said this, a boy named Kevin Keller heard her and snuck up in the conversation, starting a list of all the social activities in Riverdale

Kevin: "A strip club called the Ho Zone,
and a tragic gay bar called Innuendo. Friday nights, football games. Tailgate parties at the Mal-Mart parking lot. Saturday night is movie night, regardless of what's at the Bijou, get there early because we don't have
reserved seating in Riverdale..."

While he was saying this, Gwen noticed Betty and Veronica and decided to end the answer

Gwen: "And at sunday nights? Thank God for HBO!"

Betty, smiling at Kevin and Gwen, decided to introduce the two girls to Kevin

Betty: "Kevin Keller, Veronica Lodge, Gwen Stacy. Gwen is an old friend of mine, as well as Kevin, Veronica's new here, and Kevin is-"

Gwen/Veronica: "Gay. Thank God! Let's be friends!"

Both Veronica and Gwen were surprised they thought the same thing and smiled proudly at eachother. Then they started walking in the corridor.

Kevin: "Gwen, it's so good to finally meet you! My father always tells me about captain George Stacy's daughter!"

Gwen: "All good things, I hope."

Kevin: "Oh yes! You're like, on a pedestal of compliments!"

Gwen: "Thanks, really."

Kevin: "Oh, Veronica, is it true what they say about your dad?"

Veronica: "That he's the Devil incarnate? I stand by my father."

Then they stopped walking

Veronica: "Does everyone here know?"

The three of them looked at eachother uneasy, unspeaking

Veronica: "Wonderful...ten minutes in and I'm already the Blue Jasmine of Riverdale High."

While this was happening, Archie Andrews went inside the music auditorium, where three girls, Josie, Melody and Valerie, forming a music band named The Pussycats, were singing. When they heard Archie, the leader, Josie, spoke

Josie: "Excuse me, this is a closed rehearsal."

Archie: "I'm sorry. I...Josie, right? I was hoping I could talk to you about some songs that I wrote."

Josie: "Let me just stop you right there. You're staring at our Pussycat ears, which is rude...but let me break it, and them, down for you: the Pussycats are building a brand, creating a signature look, okay? We're telling a story. Last year, we won Rockland County's Battle of the Bands. That we did. This year, we'd like to build on that success, continue telling our story with songs we write."

Archie: "I get that, it's just-"

Josie: "Read my glossed lips, Justin Gingerlake. Not. Gonna. Happen."

Taken aback from her rudeness, Archie walked away, not noticing that one of the Pussycats, Valerie, was looking at him like a bee with honey.

Meanwhile Peter and Harry were walking in the corridor, near the lockers, while talking

Harry: "So you're telling me that you don't think that girl was all over you? Are you dumb?"

Peter: *chuckling* "Harry, if she was all over me I would know."

Harry: "Apparently not."

Peter: "Plus, I don't think someone rich like her could be interested in some loser like me."

Harry: "You sell yourself too easily, man. You're a chick magnet, I guarantee!"

Peter: "Yeah, sure."

While they were talking, Betty, Veronica, Gwen and Kevin turned around the corner and started walking in the same corridor as Peter and Harry

Betty: "Oh, and of course, there's the back-to-school semi-formal dance-"

Veronica saw Peter down the hallway and cut Betty

Veronica: "There's the hottie you two were with last night: the curly brunette Ansel Elgort."

Betty and Gwen glanced where she was looking and saw Peter laughing with Harry, and both felt weird...almost jealous for the fact that she was staring at him.

Veronica: "Is he your boyfriend?"

Betty/Gwen: "No, we're just friends."

Kevin: "No, I think he's straight."

All the three of them said this at the same time.

Veronica: "Wait Gwen, you do have a boyfriend right? That guy near the hottie."

Gwen: "Huh- oh yeah, yes it's him."

So for the joy of Veronica Peter was both free and straight, and she didn't lose the opportunity to make clear in front of the girls, obviously interested in him, that she too was.

Veronica: "In that case, mind putting in a word? I wouldn't want to miss that cute teddy bear of Peter Parker."

Kevin: "Well, no problem. I mean, Gwen has a boyfriend and Betty and Archie, even if they're not dating, are endgame, so we'll do it with pleasure."

Veronica: "Archie? Isn't he that red-headed guy you were with too?"

Betty: "Yes, it's him."

Veronica: "Well, in that case you should ask him to the semi-formal, then."

Kevin: "She should, but I heard it might be canceled because of what happened to Jason, they're gonna tell us at the assembly."

Veronica: "Who's Jason and what happened to him?"

While they were talking, Peter saw Veronica, and she saw him, they smiled at eachother and Harry 'helped' Peter to walk to her

Harry: "Hey honey *kisses Gwen* , hey guys!"

Betty/Gwen/Veronica: "Hi Harry."

Kevin: "Hi, I'm Kevin Keller, and you?"

Harry: "I'm Harry Osborn, nice to meet you Kev!"

Kevin: "Harry Osborn? I think I'm gonna faint. It's an honor to meet you!"

Harry: *chuckles* "Thanks man!"

Veronica and Peter were just staring at eachother, until finally Veronica spoke

Veronica: "Hi, Peter Parker~"

Peter: "H-Hi, V-Veronica, h-how are y-you?"

Veronica: (cute) "Not so bad actually."

Harry: "So, is our little town interesting?"

Veronica: "Yeah... *looking at Peter* ...it has its beauty."

Kevin: "Hi, Peter, I'm Kevin Keller."

Peter: *snaps out of trance* "Ugh- oh hi Kevin, nice to meet you!"

Kevin: "So, I have to ask, are you gay? 'Cause you're kinda cute."

Peter: "Erm...no, I'm straight. Are you gay? Well of course you are, it's obvious. Not that I'm implying something, it's perfectly okay, I mean of course it's okay, no need to say it, okay I'll shut up sorry..."

Kevin/Harry/Betty/Gwen/Veronica: *laughing hard*

Peter: *embarassed but laughs*

Veronica: "Well, Kevin's right: you ARE cute." (The most when he's panicking)

Peter: *blushes, scratches the back of his neck* "Th-Thank you, y-you too..."

Veronica smiled at Peter's compliment, while Gwen and Betty noticed their exchange of looks and the blush on Peter's cheeks. They were confused: Betty had a crush on Archie, but was also thinking about Peter, while Gwen had already a boyfriend, but had a very old and strong crush on Peter.

Kevin: "Well, it would be nice to keep talking here together, but we have an assembly to attend to, so let's go."

Since Veronica liked to tease Peter, she glanced at him seductively, then turned around and started walking ahead beside Kevin, while Betty and Gwen glanced briefly at Peter and noticed he was completely drooling at Veronica, then they went ahead. Harry remained beside Peter and whispered at him sarcastically

Harry: "Yeah, you were right, she's obviously not all over you..."

But Peter didn't move his glance at Veronica, and Harry, noticing it, 'helped' him again to the auditorium to attend the assembly.
