Let's Be More Than This

June 5th, 2015
(It's the same date, I know, but remember that Cas said he was taking Dean somewhere to eat.)

// Dean //

By two pm, everyone else had left to go back home. The two had to clean up their apartment soon after. Nine people all at once, in one room, wasn't exactly mess-free.

"Hey, Cas? Tell your little brother to not drop candy wrappers onto the floor next time?" Dean said, picking up three different pieces of plastic.

"Gabriel again? Yeah, I'll tell him." Castiel replied, making his way through the kitchen and into the living room.

About ten minutes later, the two collapsed onto the couch with each other. Castiel turned on the tv, grabbing a blanket for the both of them. Dean didn't object, he just let his arm close around Castiel's shoulder. This caused Castiel to lean into Dean's side, which was perfectly fine.

"Dean, don't do it." Castiel said simply.

"Do what? I wasn't going to do anything."

"Boy, if you put your foot on my coffee table, I'm 'a whack you with a spoon." Castiel said in a fake southern accent, playfully staring daggers at Dean.

"Oh, now we're taunting me. Thanks, angel." Dean responded, sarcastic but still finding the humor in it.

Castiel fell silent, enjoying the peaceful sounds of Dean mumbling something under his breath and the tv playing 48 Hours.

"Cas, are we actually going out to eat tonight? I'm tired and an annoying ass headache is starting."

"No, we don't have to. I can go pick the food up or we can just do delivery. Need aspirin?" Castiel asked, looking up at Dean.

"Not at the moment, but I probably will soon. And getting carry out sounds good. Montana Mike's?" Dean shifted a bit and then stopped.

"Yeah, that sounds good. I'll place the order in a couple hours," he paused, and Dean could sense Castiel looking at him again. "you need that aspirin, don't you?"

"Yes." Dean weakly smiled, practically holding his forehead in his right hand.

Once Castiel was back with a couple pills and a glass of water, Dean sighed in relief. He downed the capsules without the water, and stared at the tv.

((Le time skip of like two hours or whatever))

"What the- Cas? You still here?" Dean asked aloud. He checked the time; it was 5:26. He probably went to go get the food, Dean thought. Dean tried to get up, and he managed to make it to the bathroom before he lost his balance. After getting up again, and not falling, he made his way to the living room. The headache was starting to dull, but it was still a constant pain.

Twenty minutes later, Castiel was back at the apartment. "Dean, honey? Are you awake?" He said as he closed the door behind him.

"Right here, angel. I'm feeling better, but how the hell did you manage to get me to our room? I must've been passed out, and you can't carry me."

"Dean, do you forget that, although it seems like it, I'm not scrawny? I'm six foot, I've ran marathons... actually- never mind. Let's just eat, I'm sure you're probably pretty hungry." Castiel smiled to himself, Dean would always forget those things.

"Alright," Dean got up from the couch and took a beer from the fridge before sitting it down on the table. "Hey, look at that. I didn't think you'd remember to get these." He gestured to the sweet potato fries he had just moved to his plate.

"You love those things, there's no way I'd forget them." Castiel went over to hug Dean, but not before stealing a fry for himself. Dean had an overly-dramatic took of shock on his face, and that just made Castiel smile even more.

After the two had finished eating, Castiel excused himself to go to their bedroom. Dean brushed it off, he was probably just going to change or something.

"Dean, I brought out our box of pictures. It's been a while since we looked at them." Dean saw Castiel shove his hand into the front pocket of his jeans, but he once again brushed it off.

"Wow. I forgot how much I loved these pictures. Look, there's us after, uhh, what was it?" Dean wondered aloud, holding the picture of him and Castiel.

"Oh, you're seriously forgetting? That's us after the semi-formal, I think right after 'What Hurts The Most' played." Castiel said, taking a closer look at the photo.

"I know, I was just seeing if you remembered it as much as I did. I love you." Dean kissed Castiel's forehead, putting the picture back into the box.

"I love you, too," Castiel got up and went to the next room for a moment. When he came back, he had something in his hand.

"Dean, this is going to sound like I'm rambling and I'm nervous, because I am, but anyways." He dropped to one knee in front of Dean, causing his boyfriend to stare in shock. "You're the best person I've ever met, the best and only boyfriend I've ever want to have, and an all-around amazing person. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for you. Just yesterday, I decided to get the courage to ask our families about this, and I can't wait any longer. I was going to do this when we were at the restaurant, but I think being at home's an even better way to do this. Anyways, I love you and I'm never ever going to leave your side. Marry me, Dean Winchester?"

"Cas, I-" Dean stammered, still in utter shock. Once he composed himself, he spoke again. "Yes. A thousand-damn-times yes."

Castiel was standing now, sliding the engagement ring onto Dean's finger. Dean saw the other one and put it on Cas' ring finger.  Another kiss, another hug, and Dean only backed away long enough to start a Skype call with his brother.

"Yes, Dean? It's two in the morning where we are, are you okay?" Sam complained, rubbing his tired eyes and trying to tame his hair.

Dean just grabbed his and Castiel's hand and shoved them next to the camera. "More than okay, Sammy. More than okay."

"You did it, Cas. That's amazing for both of you." Sam grinned.

"He picked the perfect rings, they're beautiful and they represent us so well and-" Dean started, but Castiel cut him off.

"I know you'd like to talk to everyone about this, but how about tomorrow? Sam said it's two am where they are." Castiel stared lovingly, for Dean was being adorable.

"Right. Sorry, Sammy. We'll call tomorrow then." Dean apologized, a sheepish look on his face.

The call was ended, and soon Dean and Castiel were getting ready to fall asleep. Neither could, however, from the delight of finally being engaged.
