"Why didn't you tell me that we were in danger?! I could've helped!" Soulina exclaimed, shoving K'uk'ulkan who had just finished explaining the situation to her. Let's just say she was not pleased. "I'm not putting my daughter's life at risk! I made that mistake with your mother, I will not make it with you!" K'uk'ulkan replied just as upset with her. He knew she was hiding something, and he wanted to know what it was. He let Monsella go to the surface and look where that ended. If Soulina was going to the surface he would not be happy about that.

Soulina sighed sadly at the mention of her mother. She hated when K'uk'ulkan brought up the situation. She knew he blamed himself for it. But there was no reason to when Soulina was already doing that. She knew if she had never told her mother that her birthday wish was to see the surface world that Monsella would've never died that night. She would've been safe and they would be a happy family still. Not a broken one like they currently were now.

"That's not your choice to make, papa! I am turning twenty years old, I should have a right to make my own decisions." Soulina spoke, her tone leaving no room for disagreement. K'uk'ulkan knew he had to feed into what she was saying in order to get her to spill whatever secret she was keeping from him. "You're right. You should. You will."

Soulina perked up, surprised to hear that come from him. "I will?"

K'uk'ulkan sighed, "Yes. Under one circumstance."

"I'll do anything," Soulina said with hopeful eyes.

"These Wakandans do not take lightly to being threatened, and those two woman don't look capable of killing a child. So, you will find this scientist, and you will bring her to me. If she fights back, you will kill her. And then, I will let you leave Talokan whenever you please." K'uk'ulkan spoke, trying his best to sound sure of his choice and luckily Soulina believed it.

"Yes, yes okay I'll do it. Where is the scientist located?" Soulina asked with a small smile.

"This place called Boston, Massachusetts. Her name is Riri Williams. And since you are the only one that can blend in with the surface people, you will go there and make sure the Wakandans do what they were told." He said, turning around and picking up a paintbrush. Thankfully he didn't see the facial expression of Soulina change into worry.

Yes, Soulina may have not stepped out of the water before tonight but she did figure out what the girls name was over time. It took her a while to figure out her last name but she eventually figured it out. She never thought Riri would actually being putting Talokan in danger. But hearing that now made her angry. Did Riri know Soulina watched her every night at the river? Is that why she kept coming back? All so Riri could lure her into some trap and kill her. She didn't know. But she wasn't happy about it.

"And if they don't do what they're told?" Soulina questioned.

"You kill them."

Soulina sat on a bench at the MIT campus, wearing a sweater and some sweatpants over her shorts. Along with some white airforces that someone at the footlocker recommended. She discovered that she hated shoes. But she needed to blend in and look normal so she wore them anyways. Even the sweater and sweatpants felt weird to wear. She hated the texture of the clothing. She preferred the rich and vibrant fabric they wore in Talokan. Not this cheap clothing that felt like she was in a sauna.

Soulina took her eyes off of Riri, noticing two people exit a black car that she learned was called a Lexus. She noticed a bald woman who must've been the General, K'uk'ulkan talked about and the other girl was clearly Princess Shuri.

Shuri and Okoye were leaned on a Lexus as they were on the MIT campus watching the girl who supposedly built the machine.ย  Okoye wore a red bodysuit with a blazer and Shuri wore a purple/with some blue, tracksuit. Soulina silently questioned their fashion choices. Compared to everyone else on campus, they stood out a lot.

Riri walked over to a group of boys and snatched one of their devices. Soulina tilted her head, it was still so weird seeing Riri in the actual sunlight. She looked twice as beautiful in the day than she did at night. But either way she was still insanely gorgeous. At least in Soulina's opinion. "Hey!" One of the boys who got his phone snatched, stood up.

"You forgot to venmo me," Riri spoke, clicking on the device what what Soulina saw. She squinted her eyes, not sure what a venmo was nor what the device was. "Uh it slipped my mind. It's 8 hundred, right?" The boy spoke, Riri turned to him, almost wanting to scoff as his attempt to rip her off.

"8 hundred was yesterday's price, it's a band today." Riri spoke. Soulina almost wanted to smile at Riri's beautiful voice but she had to remember that this girl was the one putting Talokan in danger. "That's predatory. I built the whole robotic hand, you just corrected the crypt algorithm." The boy lowered his voice slightly, a bit ashamed.

"And what grade did you get?" Riri pointed out.

The boy sighed and pressed the button to pay her. He showed her the phone, "Thanks," he replied sarcastically but she didn't care, as long as she got paid.

"Is that an iPhone I see?" Shuri questioned, having seen the girl make some other student pay her through the phone.

"Primitive," Okoye grimaced.

Okoye clicked on her Kimoyo Beads, now on the line with Queen Ramonda. "My queen. We have located the scientist. She is in the American equivalent of a Wakandan village school."

"A school? Please tell me it is a professor," the Queen replied.

"It's a student mother," Shuri said. "We can't give her to Namor."

"Bring this student back to Wakanda."

"Yes, my queen," Okoye said before hanging up the line.

"I've got it from here," Okoye said to Shuri.

"Wait, maybe I should speak with her. It will be more discrete," Shuri protested.

"I can be discrete," Okoye stated. Shuri looked her up and down with a judging look. "What?"

"Nothing."

"Is it the makeup?"

"No!"

"It's the wrong shade isn't it?" Okoye asked, slighly panicking.

"It's the right shade. Fenty 440, you look good." Shuri reassured, and Soulina raised a brow in amusement at the conversation.

"I can blend in as a student. I can do this," Shuri said. "You get five minutes." Okoye stated, giving in. "Yes!" Shuri cheered, pumping her fist in excitement.

Shuri and walked down the halls in silence, unknowingly seeing a few students glance at her.

Shuri walked over to the door of Riri's dorm after locating it, and she knocked on it. "Yo?!" Shuri heard the girls voice and went to speak. "Riri Williams?" Shuri asked, mimicking an American accent.

The girl opened the door, looking down at her phone. "Yo I don't do drop bys anymore. You gotta go to the website," Riri said, not paying attention to who was in front of her.

"It's an encrypted file. I wanted to airdrop it," Shuri spoke, now using her regular voice.

Riri looked up, gasping in shock when she looked up, seeing Shuri standing there with a sense of urgency. Shuri walked past Riri, letting herself in. Shuri raised a finger to her lips as Riri shut the door.

"You're Princess Shuri." Riri freaked out, looking at the woman in utter shock.

"What the hell are you doin' here?" Riri asked as Shuri looked around, making sure there was nobody around.

"Ah shit, am I getting recruited?" Riri asked, with a hopeful look.

"No," Shuri bluntly stated and Riri's face dropped a bit.

"I'm here about the vibranium detector that you built for the CIA," Shuri informed.

"I ain't built no detector for no CIA. I made that for my metallurgy class," Riri responded.

"A school project?"

"Yeah. Professor said I'd never be able to do it. To be young, gifted, and black, though right?" Riri shook her head with a small smile as she walked past Shuri. Soulina, from where she was hiding had to prevent herself from smiling. She remembered her mother Monsella saying something similar to that once.

"Y'all probably don't say that, in Wakanda," Riri muttered awkwardly, sitting on the bed.

"How old are you?" Shuri asked.

"19," Riri answered.

"Brilliance at a young age is not always accepted by the elders." Shuri said, knowing it firsthand. "How long did it take you?" asked Shuri.

"Couple months."

"Couple months?" Shuri asked in slight shock. Soulina pursed her lips, impressed with that. But the fact that the machine was built in the first place made her upset.

"The hardest part was finding big enough mylar-" Riri was about to explain before cutting herself off. "Wait, did I piss off Wakanda?" Riri asked nervously, getting off the bed.

"Not just us. This place is no longer safe for you. Gather your things and come with me, right now," Shuri practically ordered. Soulina raised her brows, that's not how she would've done it but okay.

"I got differential equations class in like 15 minutes! And-" Riri cut herself off seeing Shuri's deadpanned look. "Okay. Okay. You, wait right here. I'm gonna go to the bathroom," Riri said, carefully walking past Shuri.

As Riri went to open the bathroom door it already opened, revealing Okoye. Riri immediately backed up in surprise, "Ooh!"

"I had it under control," Shuri protested at Okoye.

Riri raised her brows at this but didn't say anything. "I said five minutes. I gave you six," Okoye stated.

"Get out! Get out of my dorm! Get out!" Riri exclaimed as Okoye and Shuri walked towards the girl. Shuri holding her hands out in protest for Riri to calm down. "Hey!"

"I'm warning you! Do not take another step towards me!" Riri exclaimed, holding a speaker in her hand as a weapon.

"See how they teach the children to treat their guests?" Okoye said to Shuri.

Riri threw the speaker but Okoye brought out her spear slicing it in half. Okoye retracted her spear and Soulina chuckled quietly.

"You brought a spear in here?!" Shuri exclaimed.

"You brought a spear in here!" Riri freaked out.

Okoye smiled, looking back at Shuri, "I like her."

Riri looked around and eventually picked up a heater. "Hey, hey, hey, hey! Put it down! Put it- you'll hurt yourself. Come on." Shuri spoke, trying to calm the girl down.

"It's alright, Princess. Small, small girl. I am going to give you two options. You can come to Wakanda, conscious or unconscious." Okoye said to Riri who held the heater over her head, ready to throw it.

"You need to be conscious of the way that you look! Walkin' round here with all that ash on yo head," Riri insulted. Soulina gaped, covering her mouth to hold her laugh. But Shuri couldn't control hers as she let out a little chuckle.

"Oh, it's funny?!" Okoye turned around, scolding Shuri.

"No. It's not." Shuri mumbled like a little child who'd been scolded by their parents.

"Mhm. I told you!"

"You look good." Shuri said as Okoye touched her head, now becoming a little insecure of her makeup that she assumed was the wrong shade.

"Calm down. We'll leave, okay? And she can deal with that merman with winged ankles who wants to kill her, even that little mermaid. All by herself." Soulina pursed her lips, catching onto what Shuri was doing. And she knew this meant Wakanda wasn't planning on handing over Riri to them.

"You got this!" Shuri did a little dance as she walked to the door. "Mmm, with your heater," Okoye spat with pettiness.

Riri gaped and hugged her heater close, "What?"

Soulina heard the door shut after a few minutes and stepped out of the closet. She looked around seeing that Riri was now gone. She walked over to the window and looked out to see Shuri, Okoye and Riri enter the Lexus and begin to drive off. Soulina cursed under her breath and opened the window. She knew it was risky to do this in public but she jumped out anyways, landing on the concrete.

Soulina scratched the back of her head awkwardly as heads turned to her. She smiled and ran towards the dark blue motorcycle parked next to a car. The one thing she was thankful for when she went up to the surface world with her mother was that her mother had gave her a lesson on how to ride the vehicle. She wasn't a perfect driver but she caught on pretty fast.

a.n: so I'm stealing the scenes from my shuri book so if you see Makena's name in here just ignore it, I probably accidentally skipped over it whilst writing

also, soulina does have pointed ears like namor but hid them with her hair in this chapter, she also does have their strength, combat skills, and other features, and she doesn't turn blue when out of the water
