Okoye sat down in the sand, on the beach of Zamรก, Yucatรกn. She smiled as the fresh ocean breeze hit her face. Okoye glanced down at her Kimoyo Beads and still seen no message from Soulina so she assumed she must've been running late. "This mermaid better hurry up or I'm leaving," Okoye mumbled to herself.
Soulina swam up to the surface of the ocean water, her tail swaying beautifully as she did. Her face broke the surface and she wiped her face of water, looking towards the beach where she spotted Okoye. Soulina gestured Namora to follow her and Namora rolled her eyes still hating that Namor ordered her to go with Soulina. Soul swam closer to shore and turned her tail back into her legs.
Okoye raised her brows seeing Soul with different shorts instead of her normal green. Instead she wore a pair of purple shorts with a sheer teal skirt layer over it. Selya, Namora's girlfriend, had made them just for her so Soul looked more like herself rather than her father. Soul walked out of the water and ran over to Okoye who offered a smile. "Good afternoon, Princess."
"Good afternoon, Okoye." Soul replied giving a nod to the former General. Namora walked out of the water becoming more visible to Okoye who furrowed her brows at the warriors presence. "She's just accompanying me on my father's orders." Soul reassured and Okoye nodded.
"So, why did you ask to meet?" Okoye asked as Soulina sat down on the sand. "I just wanted to talk with you since we didn't really get to see much of each other when I was in Wakanda," Soul explained. "Shuri told me a lot of stories about you and how you held a spear against your husband for Wakanda." Soul added as Namora sat down in the sand, next to Soul but a fair distance away from Okoye.
"Ah, ex husband." Okoye corrected, catching both Namora and Soul off guard. Soul furrowed her brows and Okoye went to address the confusion. "We recently got a divorce. It just wasn't working out and I want to explore and do as I please and he wasn't in support of that. I felt, my happiness should also be important." Okoye explained.
"Yes, it definitely should. I'm glad you chose your happiness, it was the right decision." Soul smiled, giving Okoye's hand a comforting squeeze. "Thank you. So, are you going to show me around this beautiful place?" Okoye asked, looking around, more specifically at the ocean waters.
"Uh, I'm not sure if I can show you Talokan, but I can ask my father. Just wait here, I'll be back shortly." Soul said, a huge smile on her face as she stood up and ran towards the ocean water. "Namora, stay here!" Soul said before swimming off once she had her tail instead of legs.
Namora sighed but had to follow the princess's orders. Okoye looked at Namora, taking notice of her outfit. It wasn't the same one she wore on the bridge or battle. It was an orange two piece outfit, and did her body wonders. "May I ask, who makes your clothing?" Okoye asked.
Namora looked up from where she stared at the sand and now at Okoye. Namora's brows scrunched in confusion and she pointed to herself, "I don't speak English," she said in Mayan.
"Oh right, I forgot you don't speak English. Good thing I learned Mayan," Okoye said and Namora still didn't understand much of what she said. "I asked, who makes your clothing," Okoye spoke in Mayan.
Namora looked down at her clothes, finally understanding what Okoye said. "Oh uh, my girlfriend does. She makes most of the clothing and armor we use in Talokan." Namora said, smiling as she spoke of Selya. "Well she's doing an amazing job. How long have you been together?" Okoye asked.
"Coming up on ten years." Namora replied.
"Oh, I'm surprised you aren't married yet," Okoye chuckled. Namora shrugged, "I haven't told anyone yet but I'm planning to propose on our anniversary next month." Namora smiled and pulled the ring out of her pocket. She passed it over to Okoye who gently took it in her hands and examined it. "Oh wow, it's beautiful. She will definitely say yes, I have no doubt about that." Okoye said, handing the ring back to Namora.
"She better, she's been hinting it forever." Namora mumbled. Okoye chuckled and looked behind Namora, noticing Soulina rise out of the water. Soul turned her tail back into legs and walked out of the water, stumbling but catching herself before she fell. Soul ran over and huffed, "I forget how much I hate legs."
Namora chuckled at her dramatics and Soul took a minute to catch her breath. "So, I asked my father, but he said it's up to my mother, and I asked my mother, and she said it's up to him but I told her he said the same thing so she said yes, so the answer is yes." Soul rambled with a smile. Then she explained it in Mayan for Namora who rolled her eyes at how extra she was.
"Can your suit go underwater? Like in the depths of the ocean? If not, we have suits you can use." Soul gestured to the suit Okoye wore. It was the suit that she watched Shuri make. She thought it just ugly but she didn't tell Shuri that. And if it was like a traditional thing then she didn't want to offend her by calling it ugly.
"Yes, it works well underwater. Shuri made sure in case we had to be underwater." Okoye reassured, standing up from sitting in the sand. Namora also stood up, still confused about what Okoye said but went along with it anyways. "Great. Well, just follow me or Namora, we'll take you down there. I can't wait for you to see it." Soul smiled and walked towards the water.
Soul explained everything to Namora and obviously Mora didn't approve but this was for Attuma so she had to suck it up and deal with it. Soul dived down into the ocean waters and Namora followed her, climbing on the back of a whale Soulina called for her. Okoye kept up with them by the water jets installed in her suit and watched Soulina swim in fascination. The way her tail was so beautifully swaying in the water was like nothing Okoye had ever seen before.
Soulina's face broke through the surface as she made it inside the cave. Namora shortly followed and then Okoye's who's helmet came off. She looked around the cave, the glow worms providing light for them. A smile appeared on her face at the designs on the walls of the cave, courtesy of K'uk'ulkan and Monsella. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" Soul grinned, pulling herself to sit on the floor with her tail still in the water.
Namora climbed out and left to go get Attuma as Okoye had sat down next to Soulina. "It's very beautiful. Like nothing I've ever seen before." Okoye breathed out.
"Once I show you Talokan, it's gonna surpass this. Talokan is the most beautiful place ever, after my mother's city of course." Soul chuckled. "So, how does your tail work?" Okoye asked what she had been thinking the entire time she looked at Soulina's mermaid tail. "What do you mean?"
"Like do you have feelings of your legs under it or...?"
Soul chuckled at the question. "No, it's just a tail. It moves by my mind, basically I control it with my mind. And when I want legs, I just use my mind and I'll have my legs back. It takes a lot of practice, I assure you. When I was young I had no idea how to use it so I kinda flopped everywhere at first." Soul laughed at the memories that took over her mind.
"Can you show me?" Okoye asked. Soul nodded and lifted up her tail, turning it back into her legs, a pinkish glow around them as her tail disappeared. "Here, I will show you around." Soul stood up and Okoye followed her movements.
Soul walked towards Namor's office, showing her around as Namor wasn't in there. "This is my father's office place." Soul said. She looked at Okoye, noticing Okoye was looking at the painting of Shuri defeating Namor. "He likes to paint important chapters in his life, that fight, of Shuri defeating him, is one of those important chapters." Soul explained.
Okoye hummed and nodded at the information. She looked aroumd the room, raising her brows at the big wall painting of Monsella. "Who is that?" Okoye asked.
But before Soul could answer, someone else did. "Queen Monsella Quintanilla of Atlantica." Attuma spoke, leaning on the wall. Soulina raised her brows, a bit impressed by Attuma's English. She had taught him English but he never cared for it and was always really bad at it. Apparently he changed his mind.
Okoye turned around at the male voice and raised a brow, seeing Attuma rather than Namor, who she was expecting to see. "Also known as my mother," Soul cleared her throat, trying to ease the weird tension in the room.
"This is awkward," Namora mumbled in Mayan.
"Nice outfit," Attuma gestured to Okoye's suit with a teasing smirk. Okoye raised a brow, "It looks better than your girl shorts," Okoye replied in Mayan, catching Attuma and Soul off guard.
Soul coughed to cover up her laugh and Attuma rolled his eyes at her. "What is going on here?" Namor spoke as he walked into his office. Soul smiled at her father and he pressed a kiss to her head before sitting down in his chair. "This is Okoye. I was helping set Attuma up with her. He likes her." Soulina explained to Namor in Aquan so nobody but him understood her.
"Shouldn't love happen naturally?" Namor mumbled, taking a bite of the apple in his hand. "You're so old school," Soul scoffed and he rolled his eyes. "And you sound like an American. What happened to your accent?" Namor questioned and she sighed. "It's still there dad. Maybe your just getting old." Soul said.
"Hey, watch it." He pointed at her. "Alright, Attuma, escort the woman to Talokan, woo her and get it over with. Out of my office." Namor shooed. Soul rolled her eyes at his behavior. "Shouldn't you be off to see your little girlfriend?" Namor pointed out.
"Shit! Uh okay, Okoye, Attuma will show you Talokan as I have to get going if I want to make it in time. I hope that's okay. Okay! Good! Bye!" Soul hugged Namor and smiled before rushing out of the room, giving a pat to Attuma's shoulder in the process.
Namor raised his brows still not seeing them out of his office. "Well?"
Attuma cleared his throat and gestured Okoye to follow him in which she did. "Are you coming with?" Okoye asked Namora.
"Oh no, I must see my Selya. But I will meet you there." Namora smiled kindly. This definitely surprised Attuma and Namor who never seen Namora friendly with anyone who wasn't from Talokan, or Atlantica.
"Alright." Okoye followed behind Attuma who had jumped into the water, splashing Okoye in the process. "Are you always so...ungraceful?" Okoye blinked, not impressed with him.
Attuma squinted his eyes at her playfully, "Not really. Are you?" He shot back, earning a small chuckle from Okoye. "I can show you just how ungraceful I can be," Okoye shrugged, using her foot to kick water at him, splashing hit face.
Attuma laughed and grabbed her legs, pulling her into the water. Okoye rised back to the surface and shoved him with a laugh. They both stared at each other for a few seconds of comfortable silence. Before Attuma broke it. "Come, I'll show you Talokan."
Attuma took her hands in his and she let him. "Do you trust me?"
"No, not really." Attuma chuckled at her.
"Try to keep up."
