1. "She slowly pulled into the parking lot and glanced at her rear view mirror just in time to see the large yellow bus behind her Volkswagen stop directly in front of the building."

Section of the Book: Chapter One, Part One

Movie That is Referenced: The Ring (2002); the main character, Rachel Keller, drives a Volkswagen. The only difference is that Christina's Volkswagen is yellow while Rachel's is either navy blue or black.

2. "The blonde turned around, a little surprised at the sudden voice. But she grinned as she saw who was walking towards her. "Hey, Harry Potter!" she greeted jokingly as she hugged him.

Section of the Book: Chapter One, Part One

Movie(s)/Book(s) That are Referenced: Pretty much every Harry Potter book or film. By 2002, the first four books and the first movie already existed and the second one was still in production. I will only mention this reference once, as Christina calls Harry "Harry Potter" numerous times throughout this book.

3. "But, eventually, her boredom for the better of her, so she picked up the telephone and ordered two boxes of pizza from Joe's Pizza."

Section of the Book: Chapter Three, Part One

Movie That is Referenced: Spider-Man 2 (2004); this one is obvious.

4. "About fifteen minutes passed by and she finally pulled up to the small house on Elm Street, putting her car in park next to the sidewalk."

Section of the Book: Chapter Six, Part One

Movie(s) That are Referenced: The entire Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. I'm sure the actual filming location of Aunt May's home isn't actually on an Elm Street but I wanted to make a reference.

5. "'Where the hell were you?!' she scolded him, lightly punching his shoulder as a genuine frown fell upon her face. 'You've had me worried sick! I thought you had gotten hurt or kidnapped or... something like that!

'Christina, you're kind of hurting me,' Peter warned her jokingly, sighing a little.

'Well, I'm sorry, but what else am I supposed to do?!' Christina retorted, scoffing lightly at her friend's remark."

Section of the Book: Chapter Six, Part One

Movie That is Referenced: Scream 5 (2022); "A text? You tell me the killer is back in a TEXT?!"

6. "The wallpaper has 124 flowers, Christina thought."

Section of the Book: Chapter Seven, Part One

TV Show That is Referenced: The Handmaid's Tale Season 2, Episode 4; "The bedspread has 71 flowers..."

7. "She nodded as she gave him a sad smile, sniffing a little herself as she wiped her own tears away. 'Yeah, I'm sure,' she answered him, staying strong for Peter in that moment. 'I know what it's like to lose a father. Sure, my father isn't dead... that I know of. But I could tell that Uncle Ben was like a dad to you....'"

Section of the Book: Chapter Eight, Part One

Movie That is Referenced: Spider-Man (2002); this is in reference to Peter saying an identical line to Harry at the end of the film, "I know what it's like to lose a father."

8. "She had the radio on medium volume and she was listening to Red Right Hand by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds while the car moved forward."

Section of the Book: Chapter Nine, Part One

Movie(s) That are Referenced: Every Scream film, as Red Right Hand is the main song throughout the franchise.

9. "'Very funny,' Harry mumbled sarcastically as he turned towards where he had just gotten out of the car, all while Christina just laughed at him.

'Eh, it was pretty funny,' she murmured to herself teasingly as she placed her hands on her hips."

Section of the Book: Chapter Ten, Part One

Video Game That is Referenced: The Last of Us Part II

10. "In response, she was thrown towards the wall and she just barely prevented her skull from slamming into the bricks and causing a concussion. She quickly spun around to face the five people glaring at her with grins of victory on their faces, and she instinctively held her pepper spray at eye level of all of them. 'GET THE FUCK BACK!' she screamed at all of them, her eyes wide with fear."

Section of the Book: Chapter Eleven, Part One

Movie That is Referenced: Halloween Ends (2022); Corey being taunted by the bullies; "GET THE FUCK BACK!"

11. "'Wait, Peter?' Christina mumbled as she instinctively took a step forward, her breathing trembling as she rid the tears from her eyes. 'Do they know who did this to her...?'

There was a moment of silence on the other end as Peter struggled to come up with a proper reply.

'It's probably best if you just come here,' he said hesitantly in a strained kind of voice.

"Peter..." the blonde said sternly.

Peter sighed.

'May said something about yellow eyes...' he finally answered promptly. 'I think she was attacked by the Green Goblin.'

Those words stunned Christina beyond belief.

Section of the Book: Chapter Thirteen, Part One

Movie That is Referenced: Scream 5 (2022); "She said it was someone in a fucking Ghostface mask..."

12. "At first, it seemed to be a weirdly-shaped silhouette that stood directly next to her sink; but, for at least three seconds, Margaret identified it to be a person dressed in the strangest costume she had ever seen. It looked to be green and extremely bulky, which made whoever it was tower over the short woman more than he already did, and the suit was adorned with some kind of face. No, not a face. A mask. It looked almost devilish. And she was able to see two green eyes where she should have seen eye lenses over them, and they were staring back at her with hatred."

...

"All of a sudden, a green gloved hand busted through the wooden door, sending splinters flying across the kitchen as the Goblin grabbed Margaret by the face, forcefully pulling her back to the now damaged door. The shock of the moment made the woman unable to respond at first, not expecting what was happening to happen."

...

"An iron grip around her ankle pulling her back to where she was made her yell out and claw at the wooden floor, her fingernails scraping against the panels."

...

"'WHERE IS SHE?!' the Green Goblin screamed.

He was holding a picture frame that contained a photo of a sixteen-year-old Christina that was taken on Christmas Day three years prior."

Section of the Book: Chapter Fifteen, Part One

Movie(s) That are Referenced: Scream (1996) and Scream 5 (2022) but mainly the latter; Casey Becker's and Tara Carpenter's phone calls from Ghostface

14. "All of a sudden, a deafening CRASH erupted in Christina's ears, which made her scream at the top of her lungs as she turned around. At first, she couldn't see anything from the shattered floor-to-ceiling windows in between the living room and kitchen, as it was pitch black in the cold night outside. But a figure slowly flew into view and jumped off of something β€” later realized to be his glider β€” and stared right into Christina's soul."

Section of the Book: Chapter Fifteen, Part One

Movie That is Referenced: Scream VI (2023); Gale's apartment attack

15. "The blonde got up in half a second, however, tears streaming down her face as she shook her head at the tall thing standing in front of her. 'Please, please, please don't kill me!" she cried out hysterically, her entire body going numb as she slowly backed up.

The Green Goblin had no mercy, however, as he forcefully grabbed her by the throat and pushed her towards the balcony doors as she screamed deliriously."
