SEASON 1 EPISODE 1: PART THREE

Paloma was sprawled across her twin bed, sunlight from the window cutting sharp lines across the room as the late afternoon turned to dusk. She stirred faintly, clutching her pillow tighter, her mind floating somewhere between a dream and reality. The muffled sounds of students laughing and footsteps echoing in the hall barely registered in her drowsy haze.

Then, the door to the dorm burst open with a dramatic flair.

"Paloma! Get up!"

Paloma shot upright, startled, her hair a wild mess from her nap. Standing in the doorway was Kitty, already in full party prep mode, a sequined dress glinting brilliantly under the overhead light. The dress was unmistakable-tight-fitting, shimmering in every color imaginable, and accented by outrageously fluffy neon green sleeves that looked like they belonged on a couture runway.

"What the-Kitty, what's going on?" Paloma groaned, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

Kitty stomped over to Paloma's bed, hands on her hips. "Don't tell me you forgot!" she exclaimed, her voice dripping with exasperation. "The Welcome to KISS party. Tonight. Like, right now!"

Paloma blinked at her, trying to make sense of the words. "Oh... that's tonight?"

Kitty gasped, her hand flying to her chest as though Paloma had just insulted her entire family. "That's tonight? Babe, this is the party! The one that says, 'Hey, I'm here, I'm fabulous, and this is my year!'" She paced back and forth, tossing her hair over her shoulder. "We don't just go to this party, Paloma-we make an entrance."

Paloma swung her legs off the bed, yawning. "Kitty, I just woke up. Do we really need to go all out?"

"Need?" Kitty repeated, scandalized. "Honey, this isn't about need. This is about power. You're coming with me, and you're going to look like a goddess while doing it." She spun around dramatically. "Now, get up and let's find you something to wear. And don't even think about fighting me on this."

Paloma sighed, dragging herself to her closet as Kitty rummaged through her own side, pulling out accessories and tossing them onto her bed with wild abandon. Kitty, already wearing her statement piece of a dress, looked like a walking disco ball.

"What are you thinking?" Kitty asked, watching as Paloma sifted through her modest collection of clothes.

"Something simple," Paloma replied, pulling out a black dress. It was sleek and elegant, hugging her figure with a high slit up the side. She held it up, eyeing it critically.

Kitty turned to her, her eyes widening as she let out a dramatic gasp. "Oh my god, Paloma. That dress is stunning. It's giving Bond girl realness, femme fatale, mysterious beauty that everyone wants but no one can have." She paused, her lips curling into a teasing smile. "But it's also giving... I-don't-know-how-to-have-fun vibes."

Paloma raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong with black? It's classic."

Kitty waved her hand dismissively. "Classic is boring, babe. This is a party, not a funeral. We need to jazz it up. Accessories! Sparkle! Drama!" She darted over to her jewelry stash, grabbing a silver belt and a pair of dangling crystal earrings. "Here. These will save you from blending into the walls."

Reluctantly, Paloma let Kitty drape the belt around her waist and clip the earrings onto her ears. Kitty also slipped a stack of bangles onto her wrist for good measure, each one jangling noisily as Paloma moved.

"Okay, okay, I get it. Accessories," Paloma muttered, glancing at herself in the mirror. She had to admit, the additions did give the black dress a bit more flair.

"See?" Kitty said smugly, fluffing her neon green sleeves. "I know what I'm doing. Now let's talk shoes."

After an agonizing ten minutes of Kitty debating whether Paloma should wear heels or boots, the two were finally ready. Paloma stood in front of the mirror, her sleek black dress shimmering faintly under the light, paired with bold silver accents. Kitty stood beside her, her sequined dress shining like a beacon, her neon green sleeves puffed up with unapologetic confidence.

"We look unstoppable," Kitty declared, adjusting one of her earrings and tossing her hair over her shoulder.

Paloma smirked. "You mean you look like a walking rave."

Kitty gasped in mock offense, then laughed. "Jealousy doesn't suit you, Paloma. Now, come on! The party isn't going to wait for us."

With that, Kitty grabbed Paloma's hand, practically dragging her out the door. As they made their way down the hall, the buzz of excitement around the party began to build. Paloma couldn't help but smile. Kitty's chaotic energy was infectious, and as ridiculous as the neon sleeves were, she was glad to have her as a roommate.

"Let's go turn some heads," Kitty said confidently, and Paloma nodded, ready to take on the night.

Kitty Song Covey and Paloma Diego Castillo stepped through the grand doors into the Welcome to KISS party, the energy of the event hitting them like a wave. The room was alive with shimmering lights, music pumping through the speakers, and students mingling in their best outfits, each trying to outshine the others. It was a scene designed for dramatic entrances, and the duo didn't disappoint. Heads turned as they walked in-Kitty glowing in her sequined dress with neon green fluffy sleeves, and Paloma owning her sleek black dress with silver accents that caught the light with every step.

Paloma noticed the glances but dismissed them with her usual nonchalance. Kitty, however, was scanning the crowd, her eyes darting from one group to another. Paloma sighed, knowing exactly what-or rather who-her best friend was searching for.

"This is nothing like Adler High's Spring Dance," Paloma muttered, crossing her arms. She spotted a dessert table nearby and made a beeline for it. Picking up a cupcake, she peeled back the wrapper, ignoring the cake itself and going straight for the icing. She licked the sugary topping with a satisfied hum, her disdain for the rest of the dessert obvious.

Kitty trailed behind her, still looking around. "Where is he..." she murmured, distracted.

As they moved further into the room, Paloma caught sight of a stern face glaring at them from across the room. It was the Dean. "Hey," she nudged Kitty, gesturing subtly with her chin, "why is the Dean already giving us the stink eye? She literally just rolled her eyes at us."

Kitty glanced over and shrugged nonchalantly. "Oh, that's probably because I mentioned I thought she was friends with our moms. There's a picture of them together, but she denied it."

Paloma scoffed, unimpressed. "What, did she join some secret witness protection program for high school deans or something?" She huffed dramatically and pulled out her phone, texting as she walked.

Distracted, Paloma didn't notice someone in front of her until she collided with them, knocking into their drink. The liquid spilled all over the other person's crisp outfit, drawing a sharp gasp. Paloma looked up to see none other than Min Ho Moon, his expression a mixture of shock and irritation.

"Oh my god," Paloma muttered, her lips twitching as she tried not to laugh. But then it bubbled out of her, a full laugh that echoed above the music.

Min Ho scowled, brushing at the stain spreading across his expensive shirt. "God. Watch where you're going," he snapped.

"Sorry, not sorry, Mr. No English," Paloma shot back, crossing her arms with a smirk.

Min Ho's friend standing beside him chuckled, clearly entertained. "Busted," he said, handing Min Ho a napkin.

Min Ho rolled his eyes, dabbing at his shirt. "Welcome to KISS," he muttered sarcastically, his tone dripping with mockery.

The friend turned to Paloma and Kitty, grinning. "Don't feel bad. He loves pulling this move on people. Did it to me the first time we met."

Paloma extended a hand, her smirk still in place. "I'm Paloma, and this is Katherine-or Kitty to her friends."

"Quincy," the friend said, shaking her hand. "But I go by Q." His gaze wandered across the room suddenly, and his jaw dropped. He nudged Min Ho with his elbow, his eyes wide in shock.

"What now?" Min Ho grumbled, distracted as he tried to salvage his shirt. Q's nudge startled him, causing him to spill what remained of his drink onto himself again.

"Goddamn it, Q! This is bespoke!" Min Ho barked, glaring at his friend.

"Shut up about the clothes and look!" Q hissed, nodding toward a group across the room. "Our boy. What the hell is he wearing?"

Paloma and Kitty followed Q's gaze, and there he was: Dae, looking sharp in a perfectly tailored suit that made him stand out even in the glittering crowd.

"Yo, Dae!" Q called out, waving.

Before anyone could blink, Kitty bolted toward him, her neon green sleeves bouncing as she ran. "Dae!" she cried, throwing herself into his arms.

Paloma smiled fondly, watching as Dae caught Kitty and spun her around, their reunion full of warmth. "Aw, my best friend with her boyfriend," she said softly, her expression melting.

Q and Min Ho exchanged confused glances. "Wait," Q said, his brow furrowed. "That's Dae's pen pal?"

"Yup," Paloma replied, still smiling.

But the sweet moment shattered when a girl approached Dae and kissed his cheek. The warmth drained from Kitty's face, and she froze. Paloma's expression turned cold.

"What the fuck. Your so-called boy is a cheater!" Paloma exclaimed, glaring at Q and Min Ho.

Kitty stepped back, her face crumpling in shock. Without a word, she turned and ran, tears already spilling down her cheeks.

"Kitty, wait!" Dae called after her, starting to follow, but Paloma stepped in his path, her stance firm.

"Oh, no, no, no," Paloma said, her voice sharp. "Kitty deserves someone who can actually commit to a long-distance relationship and not cheat on her."

"It's not what you think!" Dae stammered, panic in his voice. "Yuri and I- we aren't-"

"Save it," Paloma snapped, her voice icy as she shook her head. She turned on her heel and marched off after Kitty, leaving Dae standing there, dumbfounded.
