AFTER STEALING the poor man's car, Natasha has taken the responsibility to drive, since she was the only one who knew someone that could help them. The ride was quiet for a long time, (Y/N) singed in a low tone to a few songs that came from the radio, not noticing the way Yelena and Natasha smiled at that.
After a long time of silence, Yelena spoke up. "You know, this is the first piece of clothing I've ever bought for myself."
(Y/N) and Natasha turned their gaze over to her, seeing how Yelena pointed over to the vest she was wearing.
"That?" Natasha asked.
"Yeah. You don't like it?" Yelena replied.
"I like it. I just don't see what's so cool about it," (Y/N) said.
"Is that like a. . .is it an army surplus, or. . ." Natasha continued, not being impressed by it.
"Okay, it has a lot of pockets." Yelena confessed.
Natasha and (Y/N) bit back a laugh.
"But I use them all the time, and I made some of my own modifications-" Yelena paused.
"Whatever." she said, crossing her arms, noticing how (Y/N) and Natasha were trying hard on not to laugh.
Natasha chuckled at Yelena's frustration.
"Shut up. The point is, I've never. . .I've never had control over my own life before, and now I do. I want to do things." Yelena explained.
"Hmm," Natasha hummed in response. "I like your vest."
"Maybe I'll buy one for myself." (Y/N) smiled.
"I knew it. I knew you did. It's so cool, right?"
"It's good. Yes. I like it." Natasha nodded.
"And you can put so much stuff in there. You wouldn't even know," Yelena continued. "(Y/N), I'll take you to where I bought it, I promise."
(Y/N) smiled at Yelena's enthusiasm.
"I really don't know where the Red Room is, though. I'm sorry."
"I know." Natasha said. "But I think I know somebody who does."
"Oh, yeah, who?" (Y/N) asked.
"We're gonna need a jet."
———————————————-
NATASHA HAD CALLED a friend of hers, named Rick Mason, to get them a jet for the particular plan they were elaborating. The three of them had left the car behind and decided to continue on walking, since they were planning to meet up with Rick.
"I said we needed a jet," Natasha pointed out once they had arrived to the meeting point.
Instead catching the sight of an enormous jet, they spotted a medium sized helicopter waiting for them in the middle of a plain field.
Rick Mason stepped out of the helicopter, "Yeah, you know what you didn't give me? Time. Or money. I'm not made of jets."
"I thought you were supposed to be the best. Like a real pro." Yelena said.
"Oh, I beg your pardon, tsarina. Was the free flat and lifetime supply of kissel not your liking?" Rick replied.
"Ha!" Yelena let our a dry laugh.
"Don't let her wind you up." Natasha said.
"No, I take exception to impugning my professionalism." Rick continued.
"Well, you did set me up with a generator that crapped out after six hours." Natasha replied.
Rick huffed in annoyance.
"Aw, he's sensitive," (Y/N) said. "See why you keep him around."
"You, too, huh? Tag team." Rick pointed at her and then at Natasha and Yelena.
(Y/N) payed no mind to his comment and continued looking around the helicopter, inspecting it to see if it was safe enough to fly.
"Where's the rest?" Natasha asked Rick.
Rick pulled out a brown bag from the inside of the helicopter and placed it on the grass, opening it up to show it to the three women.
"Voilà."
"Ooh," Yelena said as she spotted a granola bar from the inside of the bag, taking it out.
"Oh, I stashed that, like, five years ago." Natasha warned.
Yelena didn't listen to her warning and took a bite out of it, and (Y/N) looked at her with a concerned look.
"How is it?" she asked.
"It's dry. It's really dry." Yelena answered but continued chewing it, stepping inside the helicopter.
(Y/N) sighed but followed after her, stepping inside and taking a seat right across from Yelena, trying to ignore the way she continued eating the granola bar.
"I'll make it up to you," Was the only thing (Y/N) caught from the conversation from outside, noticing how Natasha was now climbing into the helicopter, the brown bag in her hand.
"That's what you always say," Rick said before he closed the door.
