𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐑:
In where the author warns the reader about the themes and contents of this story and also lays out trusted resources for the following PH historical background that will be written in this fic

To add to this. I'm a writer, of course, I fucking yap.

If you're going to be this type of reader who leaves these kinds of comments. Then leave, it's embarrassing. You can't be a reader if you complain about reading my reminders because I have endured many comments that MADE me write reminders in the first place. So it is not a me problem anymore. If you're reading an academic text, I would have understood this comment, but if you are reading a fanfic, would you rather not be warned of the content warnings of this book and be surprised to read triggering themes in a chapter? Jesus, stop complaining. I'm not getting paid to write fanfics to just let this slide. Having fanfic writers is a privilege that no one is ready to talk about. Without us, you won't have anything to read about your favorite characters.

Back to the other important matters.

I want to warn everybody before you proceed with this story. As you have read in the synopsis, this is a very sensitive, triggering, and heavy story. I suggest everyone proceed cautiously and in a good head space before reading this. This isn't a typical light and fluffy that I write.

This is not your average fanfic. It can get political. It also heavily criticizes my country and how it was/being governed. If it gets too much, respectfully leave and not leave your negative ass comments because I warned you if someone leaves a comment and doesn't read the disclaimer. That's on them.

If anybody reports this story and gets my account deleted, best believe I won't be coming back because this book is how I am expressing my support for the countries that are oppressed and deal with injustice and dictators. I am using the platform that I have to use my voice because I have the privilege to do so because a person's morals are seen to whose side of a conflict they are in. I always choose the side of the oppressed.

I may not discuss all of the contemporary issues happening around the globe. Still, the themes of this story are not only isolated but can be interpreted from a general perspective.

So, a word of caution: BE CAREFUL ON HOW YOU COMMENT.

I have to make these disclaimers because readers tend to comment before actually thinking. I have replied to so many insensitive comments in my three years of writing here at Wattpad, and it is fucking exhausting and disappointing to think that people dare to comment on what they commented. Think before you click.

That is all I ask.

Corazon's backstory is based on the actual events of what happened in World War 2 in the Philippines - when the Japanese occupied the Philippines for three years and the tragedy and violence they brought with them.

This is a historical fanfic that I won't deep dive into describing the events because it is very, very traumatic, disturbing, spine-chilling, horrifying, and full of abuse and violence.

Before you continue to read this, I first and foremost require you to read the articles I will provide for you to know what Corazon's backstory means.

I WOULD LIKE TO WARN EVERYONE THAT THE ARTICLES CONTENT WILL CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING THEMES: Rape, sexual abuse, sexual assault, abuse, violence, death, abductions, torture, war crimes, and the like.

Lolas Reveal the Story of the Filipino 'Comfort Women':

Meet Estelita Dy: A Filipino Comfort Woman Survivor | STAY CURIOUS #13:

Why did I decide to have my OC with this kind of backstory? Because it's my country's history, how colonizers abused and took advantage of Filipinos over their reign of oppression, and the result of their colonization in my country and how my country healed/is healing, now the Philippines is being reigned over by Filipinos in the government that only knows to corrupt and abuse their power over their countrymen-I know how sad is that.

But also, because I read an article that has resurfaced about this specific time in history, it's as if it's forgotten history. How the Philippines ignored the pleas of the women that was/is victimized by what the Japanese soldiers had done to them. Because it was already compensated in 1956, Manila and Tokyo signed a reparation agreement.

I am not whatsoever "hating" the said country, but you can't erase the history of what happened in the past. So, I am only writing based on the resources I have read over the years. This particular event in history has always been in my mind ever since I learned about it in our history class. This story/fanfic will not be historically accurate as I will also take creative liberties that suit my OC, but I will try. I am just retelling it, preserving history through my writing.

But I will cite more trusted references, resources, and texts about the colonization of Spain, America, and Japan because their reign contributed to and shaped why the Philippines is the way it is now.

I want to remind everyone to please be mindful and respectful of your comments about MY country's history. About my culture, that is all I ask.

This story has been in my drafts for two years. I have debated really publishing this for everyone to read because it's a different kind of writing vulnerability that I don't know if everyone will appreciate. After all, it's about my country. So this fanfic has a special place in my heart. It might be fanfic, but how I write Corazon's journey is my contribution to the resistance of the oppressed.

The following references will contain war crimes, oppression, literally everything that happens when a country gets colonized and in war, and what it does to the natives.
