FERRARI SIGNS MULTI-YEAR CONTRACT WITH LENNON MONET EFFECTIVE FOR 2024 SEASON

Lennon Monet, the only woman currently in Formula One, has made the decision to leave Red Bull, which has been her home for the past three seasons, to move to Scuderia Ferrari on a multi-year contract extending beyond 2026.

The announcement came ahead of the United States Grand Prix, with both Ferrari and Monet posting about the move. Earlier this week, we received another piece of news for the 2024 grid as Carlos Sainz announced he would leave Ferrari to move to Red Bull.

The two drivers have been in talks with their respective teams for months before coming to the decision of doing a direct swap between Sainz and Monet.

For the 2024 season, Monet will join Charles Leclerc at Ferrari, her childhood family friend and long-time rival. The two have been racing against each other in a heated rivalry since they started in go-karts, and tensions are still high as they compete in F1 cars.

Whereas most drivers separate rivalries on and off track, Monet and Leclerc have not been seen to do as much in all the years they have been in F1. This can be seen in their various collisions through the years, most notably at the 2020 Spanish Grand Prix and the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, both of which resulted in heated arguments on the side of the track before they were pulled away from one another.

Though their families are close and Monet has been seen talking and laughing with Leclerc's brothers and mother on various occasions, as well as Leclerc with Monet's younger sister and mother, the two drivers have not made any effort to be friendly.

With them becoming teammates at Ferrari for 2024 and beyond, it is inevitable for them to spend more time together and for their team to urge them to connect as teammates to form a cohesive team for the 2024 season. One can only imagine how the two will behave once the season actually starts, but Ferrari fans are hoping they both get their acts together before the lights go out in Bahrain.

username i feel like people don't really understand the chennon lore like they've known each other since they were in diapers they practically grew up together. they both share the same godfather (jules) and grew up watching him race. since they were young they've both dreamed of racing for ferrari because of him. from when they both first got on social media up until now, every single time either of them has gone on vacation with family, the other has been in the background of at least one pic

username and also the way they're "rivals" but whenever either of them have a crash they get super panicked and can't relax unless they know the other is ok. like lennon's crash at silverstone 2020 and charles kept asking in his radio if she was ok and didn't focus back on the race until he knew she was fine and literally dropped back like 5 places no im not joking.

LAURA WINTER: we are joined now by lennon monet after fp1 during race weekend in austin, texas! hello, lennon, how are you?

LENNON MONET: hi laura! i'm doing great, how are you?

LAURA WINTER: doing pretty well, thank you. how is the car feeling after free practice?

LENNON MONET: really good, actually. qatar was a whirlwind of a weekend starting in pole and ending seventh, but the team has been working tirelessly on updates for the car and so far, it's feeling amazing. really looking forward to qualifying tomorrow and ready to push to the best of my abilities.

LAURA WINTER: i'm glad to hear that, lennon. i know qatar wasn't what you or the team was expecting but it sounds like you have worked to resolve the issues with the car.

LENNON MONET: yes, definitely. i have to thank the team's efforts and long hours toward working on the car.

LAURA WINTER: speaking of the team, can i ask about the news of your move to ferrari for the 2024 season?

LENNON MONET (laughing): i knew it was coming. ask away, laura.

LAURA WINTER: well, i think i speak for everyone when i say that it was pretty shocking. carlos moving to red bull came as a surprise when the news came out on monday and then it was announced you would take his ferrari seat just yesterday. did you know that you were going to move to ferrari before it was announced carlos would take your seat at red bull?

LENNON MONET: long story short, yes. i did. i knew before carlos even signed the papers that we would be swapping teams.

LAURA WINTER: so you've been talking about it for a while then?

LENNON MONET: yeah, since the summer break really.

LAURA WINTER: wow, really? can i ask your reasoning behind the move? and how much you know about carlos's move?

LENNON MONET: well, i can't really speak for carlos, but as for me, ferrari has been and is the dream. ever since i was young, i dreamed of adorning the color red and hearing the tifosi chant my name in monza. my godfather, jules, he should have been the one in my place. i remember long talks in which he would tell me about how much he wanted to join ferrari. it's no secret that ferrari is the epitome of formula one, the team every driver dreams of driving for at least once in their life. knowing that this is what jules wanted, when the opportunity came, i took it. i like to think he's proud of me, wherever he is. part of the reason for this move is him. but i think he's the reason behind a lot of my words and actions, so that's no surprise.

LAURA WINTER: that's truly a great sentiment, lennon. i think he would be proud of you too.

LENNON MONET: thank you, laura.

LAURA WINTER: will you miss having max as a teammate next year?

LENNON MONET: hell no.

LENNON MONET: part of me will, of course. max is one of my best friends. i've had the best time of life here in red bull with this amazing team, racing alongside him and competing for that top spot. he's my brother, and i'll miss seeing him every second of every day. but on the other hand, i'm a little relieved. for a while, i'll admit i was scared of us turning into lewis and nico. formula one is a harsh sport and even harsher on friendships especially between teammates. i guess my move to ferrari isn't entirely unprecedented in that aspect.

LAURA WINTER (nodding): i can understand that. of course, fans are already making edits of you two and saying how they'll miss you as teammates next year!

LENNON MONET (chuckling): yes, i've seen those. but fear not, i will still spend every waking minute bullying him, trust me. the bromance will not die.

LAURA WINTER: speaking of teammates, what do you think about your future one? it's no secret you and charles have been longtime rivals since you were kids all the way into formula one. are you two willing to set this rivalry aside for the team?

LENNON MONET: well, laura, all i can really say is i guess we'll see next season. but for now, i'm focused on the present and on winning another constructors championship for red bull.

LAURA WINTER: well, there you have it. good luck this weekend, lennon.

CHARLES LECLERC: no.

update for ferrari 1-2 yesterday in austin. my toxic trait as a ferrari fan is thinking ferrari has a chance at constructors and won't fuck up when it counts the most 😭

for everyone waiting for the risk update trust me it's coming, i've just been having writer's block and am still recovering from liam 💔 to any directioners reading this book feel free to rant or cry or let it out in the comments, i get it.
