実生活 // 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞

     "HOW SOON IS TOO SOON TO MOVE ON FROM SOMEONE YOU DATED FOR OVER A YEAR?" Were the first words out of Sunny Miguel's mouth when Amandla Jones finally answered the phone. Furrowing her brows, Amandla was about to respond when the younger girl continued. "I mean you moved on pretty quickly and I mean that in the most respectful way possible, but how soon is too soon? Like how much of a bitch would I be if I started dating someone only two weeks after Ashton dumped me?"

     Blinking, Amandla glanced over to Tom whose eyes were slightly wide. Her phone had automatically connected to his car's Bluetooth system the moment she got in and the call was broadcasting live to both of them. "Uh, Suns... you're on speaker," she spoke slowly, pulling her hair up into a ponytail as Tom drove.

     Silence was all that could be heard for a few seconds. "I knew that," Sunny squeaked, clearing her throat. Tom pressed his lips together to keep from laughing and kept his eyes focused on the road. "You uh, you wouldn't happen to be with Tom, would you?"

     At the mention of the actor, the couple shared curious expressions. "I am, why?" Amandla questioned.

     "You know what? This can wait—"

     "Sunny, what's up? Whatever you say, Tom won't repeat."

     "He might if he knows it's about his brother," Sunny remarked, immediately cursing under her breath after. "Fuck, shit. I shouldn't have said that, fuck."

     An astounding stillness engulfed the car and the YouTuber watched as her boyfriend's eyes widened significantly. "Wait, are you talking about Harry?" Tom asked, on the verge of gasping. He was very much aware of his brother's growing adoration and crush on the youngest Miguel sister. He had been for quite some time now.

     Harry and Sunny had become mutual acquaintances years ago but didn't form a proper friendship until last April. Sunny had posted an Instagram story talking about some movie and Harry sent a message in response, sliding into her DMs. From there, they became friends and he found himself stuck in the friendzone while she was in a relationship.

     So for months, he'd been hiding his true feelings but now that she was single, it was finally his chance. However, Harry had repeatedly told Tom, Harrison, and Sam that he wasn't going to say anything. Not yet. He didn't want her to know he had feelings unless he thought that it was possible she felt the same way he did. And from the sound of Sunny's words, that possibility appeared a lot more likely than the curly-haired twin believed.

     A gasp echoed throughout the car speakers. "Amandla! Did you tell him?" Sunny exclaimed accusingly.

     "What?! No! I wouldn't share your business like that!" Amandla instantly fired back, sitting up in her seat as she gave Tom a perplexed look.

     "Then how the hell does he know?!"

     "I don't fucking know!"

     "Paddy is too young and Sam is with Elysia. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which brother she's talking about," Tom stepped in, but from the narrowed eyes the girl beside him gave, he knew that she knew he was full of shit. "Mandy hasn't told me anything, I swear."

     Sunny sighed. "I'm sorry, Mands," she apologized, and the brown-haired girl quickly reassured her it was all right. "Anyway, how soon is too soon?"

     Momentarily holding her breath, Amandla leaned back. "I don't know, Sunny. I mean, it's up to you and how you feel. If you feel that you could be with someone else already and not still be hung up over Ashton, then you could consider that a sign," she replied, reaching to fiddle with her necklace.

     "How did you know? I mean, it's not like you waited a long time, but I also know that your circumstances were slightly different," the girl on the other end of the phone said.

     Tom's ears perked at the question, as he was also intrigued to know the answer.

     "I got the closure I needed with E, and that's not me saying that what you need is closure to know for sure. I don't know what you need nor can tell you what you need, but for me, I knew that's what I needed. The relationship ended on bad terms and no matter how I felt about Tom, I couldn't move on from Ethan until I saw him and properly closed our chapter," the YouTuber responded.

     "But how did you know?" Sunny pressed; there was a lace of desperation in her tone. "How did you know that you were meant to be with Tom? How did you know that it was him you wanted to be with? How did you know that you wanted to get back together with him?"

     From where she sat in the passenger seat, Amandla averted her stare to Tom, who was continuously darting his eyes over at her. A sensation of tingles raced up her spine and the butterflies in her chest began to flutter.

     A car passed by theirs and the headlights from it darted over the couple in a matter of seconds, illuminating their world. All was quiet for a moment.

     "It was a combination of things," she finally answered, glancing out the window. "I kind of began realizing that what we used to have was still very much real on New Years'. Tom was looking at me with this stare, I couldn't even describe it if I tried, but it was raw and genuine. I could tell that he was all in it with me, right then and there, and every moment after. I mean, I could tell on my birthday that there was something and that he was serious about me, but I didn't truly realize and believe that fact until three days later.

     "Then, during January in my kitchen, I felt this sort of shift take place between us. I realized that what we have goes deeper than simply love. I knew that when I came home from Jersey that he was going to be here and waiting; he wasn't going anywhere. And that was something that I'd experienced before but that time felt different. It was as if he was going to be the first and last person I would ever return to—that it was only going to be him for the rest of my life—and I wanted that.

     "Shortly after, I finally admitted to myself that I am in love with him. How I feel towards Tom is sometimes messy and unclear, but unconditional. It's irreplaceable. It's terrifying yet beautiful. Yes, I love him and am good at loving him, but there's more to it than just that. It's not simple. I know all the different versions of him that he puts up as defenses and shields in moments where he feels hurt or attacked. I know who he is when he's upset and in pain. I know the person he is when he's crying or feeling guilty. I know who he is when he's genuinely happy and who he is when he's faking it. I know what pisses him off and what annoys him more than anything. I've figured out what drives and motivates him and I love him for all of it. Every part.

     "It's not about his quirks or mannerisms, and it's not about the way he makes me feel physically, but the sum total of everything and none of those things at the same time. And I know from experience that if I ever lost him, it would be like losing a part of myself—a part I can never replace because part of me will always be lost in that love. It was only by luck and his care for me that I am able to have him back.

     "Tom figured all of that out long before I ever did. He knew that I was it for him, and his feelings developed a lot quicker than mine. At the beginning of our relationship, I gradually fell for him but was delayed. Then, when he came back last year, I continued to. I fought for a really long time not to believe that I was in love with him. I fought to the point where I just gave up and accepted that I had fallen. And when I did that, I knew. I knew that it was him—I wanted to get back together with him.

     "If you want to know if it's Harry you're meant to be with, look in the mirror and confront your feelings. Accept them for what they are and don't try to change them. Allow yourself to reminisce and process everything you feel towards him. Once you do that, all that's left to do is tell him and hope that he feels the same way. If he doesn't, that's his loss but then you'll know that you put yourself out there and owned your feelings. Not a lot of people can do that."

     The car was put into park, for the couple had arrived at the Holland household. Both of them unbuckled and leaned back in their seats. On the opposite end of the call, Sunny was quiet.

     Amandla could feel Tom staring at the side of her head and she briefly made eye contact with him. He was staring at her both in awe and with love; his eyes were slightly wide and an angelic smile was tugging at the corner of his lips. A wave of heat rose to her cheeks and she swept her gaze away right as Sunny's voice filled the car.

     "I really needed to hear that... thank you."

     Immediately, the brown-haired girl nodded. "Of course, I'm always here for you."

     "I'm going to take your advice, so I'm gonna go. I love you," Sunny sang softly, dragging out the u.

     Seconds later the call ended and Tom was quick to move closer, reaching his left hand out and tucking Amandla's hair behind her ear before cupping her cheek and turning her face toward him. She wasn't given a chance to speak as Tom had already placed his lips on hers'.

     The kiss was tender and loving, and Amandla smiled. However, it didn't last long and they'd fallen into a smooth, but intense rhythm. One of her hands cupped his face while the other rested against his neck, and Amandla was the first one to deepen it.

     Tom was pleasantly surprised when the YouTuber slipped her tongue into the kiss and he moved his hand to the back of her head, running his fingers through her hair and pulling her closer. Slowly, she rolled his top lip between her teeth and sucked gently, tugging lightly before releasing it. For a moment, the actor forgot where the two of them were, a low moan escaping him as they separated.

     "God, I really wish we were anywhere but here right now," he muttered, feeling her forehead touch his. "I swear, once we leave—"

     "Holy shit!" A voice shouted, and they jumped apart.

     There, standing outside the car with a bag of trash in his hands, was Paddy Holland. His eyes were wide and his jaw had dropped. A few feet behind him, Sam and Dom had stopped walking down the driveway once they'd noticed Tom and Amandla kissing in his car.

     Nobody had been informed that the brown-haired girl would be in attendance at dinner, but now everything made sense. After all, it was Tom who had proposed the idea of having a family dinner.

     "Maybe if you back up the car really slowly, they'll forget they even saw us," Amandla whispered; her face was burning and she had slowly sunk down in the passenger seat. It was one thing for Harry or Sam to see the two making out since they had before, but Paddy and Dom? Amandla wanted to die right then and there.

     Looking over at his girlfriend, Tom snorted. "Love, it's fine," he reassured her, knowing that his family, aside from perhaps Paddy, wouldn't make a big deal out of seeing them kiss.

     "To you. Your dad and Pads just—you know what? Pretend I'm a hallucination," she mumbled, covering her face with her hands and groaning.

     Laughing, he shook his head. "Babe, seriously. If anything, Dad will make a joke and Paddy will fanboy over us being back together. Sam probably already saw this coming, and I don't doubt that Mum and Harry did too."

     Ignoring his words, Amandla shook her head. "I've never felt so awkward and uncomfortable in my life," she whined, ignoring how hard Tom was laughing. "I'm glad you find this funny," she grumbled, removing a hand from her face and flipping him off.

     Tom reached over and grabbed her hand, prying it open and interlacing their fingers. "You're adorable, you know that right?" he remarked, a grin breaking through.

     "Shut up." Amandla replied, almost smiling when she heard him giggle. Sitting up, she glared at him as he pressed a kiss to her forehead.

     From outside the car, Paddy broke into a large grin as he was coming to terms that what he saw actually happened. "Does this mean you're back together?" he screamed, hoping he was loud enough for them to hear him.

     Not a second later, Tom sent him a thumbs up, and his eyes lit up with happiness.

     "Hell yes!"

     yes, i reused that whole love speech from chapter 101. bite me. i really wanted amandla to be able to help sunny while also telling tom her thought process when it comes to love and their relationship. so, i did just that.

     i love this chapter, it's so cute. now that all the drama is over, i'm kind of sitting on the couch like 👁️👄👁️ because the rest of the book is about to end. there's not much left. (yes, sunny and harry's relationship is still going to be something discussed. no, i am not writing a harry holland fanfiction because i don't have that kind of time and motivation. it's taking a lot for me to even write the spin-off.)

     in case you didn't know: EXACTLY A WEEK FROM TODAY '𝐒𝐇𝐄' WILL BE FINISHED/COMPLETED/DONE/THE-FUCKING-END!!!!!
