THE MOMENT EVANGELINE STEPPED ONTO THE ROOFTOP GREENHOUSE, she was enveloped in a cocoon of fragrant scents. The air became thick with the scent of blossomed jasmine, myrtles, and roses. The greenhouse was bathed in the glow of sunlight, a familiar sanctuary hidden above the bustling city below. Far from the chaos of Camp Jupiter.

She sighed in relief, tears prickled her eyes. She allowed herself to cry, rubbing at her now puffy cheeks.

"You dummy, Now you have to fix your makeup." She sniffled, thinking out loud.

She wandered through the lush foliage, her fingers grazing delicate petals as she searched for solace. She only seemed to feel sadder. Each flower whispered a memory of Jason, their vibrant colors and graceful shapes stirring emotions long tucked behind fake smiles. She could almost see them here again, running around, watching the stars, laughing, kissing..."

Eva found herself hopping onto a weathered bench, She tried to make her little vent session short. She knew she was getting the opportunity of a lifetime and would not let it go to waste for anything. But gods did her heart feel so heavy...

Evangeline's gaze drifted to a forgotten beaten book lying amidst a patch of forget-me-nots. She questioned how it got there as she reached out to touch it, a surge of energy coursed through her, transporting her into a vision that blurred the lines between reality and time.

Evangeline's surroundings shifted and warped, transporting her to a sun-drenched clearing within the woods. There, amidst the hustle and bustle of people wearing orange shirts and going about their daily activities, she saw himβ€”Jason. Her Jason.

His demeanor was relaxed, not as commanding as always. He watched intently as a young short boy worked on something large. Evangeline noticed his hair grew a bit, his skin was warmer, and his eyes were glowing with playfulness.

Her heart swelled with a mix of longing and bittersweet joy at the sight of him, She couldn't even question how she was seeing him. His every movement etched itself into her memory, she wanted to appreciate this.

But then, as if a shadow had fallen across her heart, she watched as Jason's gaze strayed to the side, a flicker of interest sparking in his eyes. She could only watch his face, The vision didn't allow her to see anything but him.

Confusion and pain intertwined within Evangeline as she questioned who he looked at like that in her absence. Then she questioned if this was real. If it was, that meant he really did leave. If it was, then he didn't want to come back... If it wasn't, Someone was seriously fucking with her and she didn't appreciate it.

The ache in her chest deepened as she grappled with the uncertainty, her emotions roiling like the waves crashing against the distant shore.

She opened her mouth to say something.

"Angel.....I'm coming!" Jason yelled out suddenly. He ran out of the scene.

"You're...You're coming, Jay..." Evangeline muttered. Her heart soared. She saw black, the scene flickered before she saw Jason's sweet face again.

"Mi Amore." Jason's voice was deeper. Suddenly, he was in different clothes.

He wore a knee-length, short-sleeved tunic called a chilton. A cloak was over their tunic which was carefully wrapped around his body. He smiled down at Evangeline.

"Mi amoreβ€”" He said again, his voice distorting. "I beg youβ€”"

Evangeline gasped as she came back to reality. She looked at the cover of the book and noticed the tears that smudged it. She wiped it down with a hanky from her bra. Before reading out the title. "Threads of Fate: The Enchantress's Legacy....." She gasped, "The enchantress?"

Evangeline tried to flip to the end of the book, but the pages were empty. She cursed under her breath. She flipped to the front page and traced out the first line with reverence. "There was once an enchantress, who was most enchanting." she recited softly,

The romance lover in her was excited, the demigod in her told her this was not one of her Jane Austen tales.

She frowned suspiciously, "....Guess I have some new reading material." She hummed and looked up at the sun.

She knew she needed to go quickly, especially if she wanted to retouch her makeup and look decent before lunchtime came around. But this discovery brought up too many questions.

She closed her eyes tightly, "Maman, I need answers. Please guide me in this quest. Please, help me be victorious...Je'taime."

Evangeline inhaled sharply. She left her sanctuary, determined to take on whatever came next.
