[ chapter four  . . . vengence's as sweet as sugar ]

DAYS SLOWLY MERGED INTO ONE ANOTHER. It was likely that weeks had past. But she still felt the same. Dread, melancholy, anger.

Each emotion took its turn leading and powering her every action. From sitting still with her mind blank, screaming to the sky for any sense of reason.

These feelings swirled around her mind and released themselves through her body. She drained herself of any kind of sadness until all she was left with was her body on fire with it. Vengence.

It was her mother's domain. It was the blood that coursed through her veins. It was an innate need for it that kept her alive and what the gods said would bring her to her demise.

The prophecy said otherwise.

Revenge was a sweet thing. It tasted like honey on a warm sunny day. It felt like the lips of your lover on yours once you kiss. The reality of the situation, how bloody it would be, had no damper on how her sweet longing for vengeance filled her with some sort of thrill.

This thrill kept her up at night, planing her every move. How she'd approach them. How she'd finally be able to live in peace.

She was consumed by a manic sensation that only left her body once she felt the warm rays of Apollo's sun at the end of her life.

Her eyes closed but she wasn't dead yet.

She heard him come down from Olympus. She could sense his godly presence. It only made her bloodlust rise exponentially before dropping down when he spoke last words to her and when she took her final breath.

"I'm sorry." His voice broke.

To Estella, there was no place like her room. The small space was where she felt the most at peace. The warm feel of the warm lights, her paintings hung on the wall. Her guitar surrounded her too and a box of old notebook under her desk.

It was also the place where she felt the most confused or scared.

Demigod dreams can do that to a girl.

Estella had many different types of dreams when her mind finally took a rest at nightfall. Some where about demigods from her time period. Those were rare and far in between.

Sometimes she just would not dream. This was the best in her opinion.

Most of the time she'd dream of Reverie. A daughter of Nemesis who's mind was wrecked by grief and who's veins were filled with the lust for revenge.

She didn't know who Reverie was supposed to be. From the looks of it she was a demigod from the late Victorian era. That's all. But, she knew a lot about the girl. Not in a superficial sense.

Estella couldn't tell you the first thing about her friends or family. What food she liked. Her hobbies.

Instead, Estella knew her every thought and feeling. How Reverie loved so deeply, how she felt so angry at the world. The warmth she felt near her loved ones and the repulsion that sent electric shocks through her spine at the thought of the gods.

She also knew how the raven haired girl felt when she died.

It was as if Estella was Reverie.

While, it caused younger Estella to wake up unable to form a coherent sentence. Only being calmed down by who she saw as her brother, Luke, or her 'sister', Silena Beauregard. 14 year old Estella had become less scared and more confused.

Why did she dream about this girl? She had asked herself this question so many times it might as well had been tattooed in her mind.

"Stella?" A voice woke her up from her intense train of thought.

Estella's gaze snapped to the boy beside her on the transit bus. Her brown eyes, gleaming despite the horrors lighting, bored into his green ones.

"Are you alright?" Percy asked. At the moment they were both taking a bus to school for the Halloween party. Estella ended up dressing up at Sailor Mars and Percy ending up being Batman.

"Yeah, I just zoned out."

The bus stopped abruptly and Estella looked out the window to see that it was their stop. Estella took the lead and stepped off the bus while holding on tight to her oversized jacket.

"I hope I didn't make a mistake by going and forcing you to tag along." Estella spoke after a moment of silence.

"You didn't force me. I came here with my own free will." Percy shot at her. "If it sucks then we'll be bored together."

They had to walk a couple blocks to arrive at school. When they did they entered the gymnasium.

They normal gym lights were turned off. The lights that were on were colourful and on theme. There was decoration scattered around the place. Spiders and cobwebs galore. Definitely not the place for a child of Athena.

Estella thought about how Annabeth Chase, one of her closest friends before she left, would of hated this to her core. Then she regretted ever thinking about camp. She was never able to totally forget it after all.

The Percy and Estella went to the snack bar. It showed off an array of chips, and soda, and bowls of mixed-matched candy.

"Estella, you made it." A familiar spoke over the music.

"Yeah. Nice costume." Estella smiled. Rue was dressed as seventies roller skater girl.

"Thank you! What snacks do you want?"

While Percy was very impulsive with his decisions, Estella was the opposite when it came to choosing between a wide array. She ended up getting coke and skittles. Percy got a bag of chips and sprite.

Estella started sipping on her coke as Percy furrowed his brows at something out of vision.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, just—" he motioned towards a guy dressed as those inflatable men things infront of car dealerships.

"That's a decent costume." Estella argued. "That's like a— six out of ten."

"You're being too generous." Percy sat down on a bench and motion for Estella to join him. "I'd say a four or five."

"But you have to factor in the creativity. It's not that cliché, is it?"

"I could've thought of that."

"What about that one?" Estella pointed to a girl with a pretty accurate recreation of Alice in Wonderland.

"Well Alice in Wonderland is pretty common." Percy offered some of his chips.

"But the costume is well done." Estella took a few and pour some skittles into his hand. "So like a six or seven."

Percy nodded in a agreement.

They sat there like normal kids. Rating other people's costumes and laughing as if they were both hiding from each other that they were half Greek god. It was nice. Sweet even.

"Mr. Jackson." A voice gained both of their attention. It was a teacher. But Ms. Reid was still suspicious to Estella though. "I'm told that it's your shift for the snack bar."

Estella held her guitar charm necklace close.

"I don't think so. I didn't sign up for it." Percy replied.

Ms. Reid tutted and crossed her arms. "Come with me." She spoke firmly. Percy glanced at Estella then stood up and hesitantly followed the dark haired teacher.

Estella watched them walk away. Out of the gymnasium and into the school's hallowed halls.

She had two options. Be stupid and follow Percy. Or sit around doing nothing because he could probably take down this monster.

And as much as she knew the second one would work, she started feeling restless.

Estella stood up abruptly and made her way out into the hallways, without the chaperones taking notice. Estella looked both way as if this were a crosswalk and spotted Percy battling Ms. Reid.

Except Ms. Reid didn't look like a human teacher anymore. She took her true form as a dracanae.

Estella hastily took off her necklace and decided her bow would be better in this situation. The golden bow was named ílios fílise—it roughly translated to sun kissed.

She gripped the weapon firmly and was more confident once her quiver appeared. She notched an arrow and aimed. Making sure Percy wasn't in her way, she shot at the monster.

She watched as her arrow sped down the hallway and found itself lodged into the dracanae's waist. It grabbed Percy's attention and his gaze quickly snapped to the girl.

"Estella?"

"Move!" Estella exclaimed.

Percy quickly dodged an attack from Ms. Reid. Estella got closer in and shot another arrow at the serpent woman. It needed up lodged in her chest. Percy finished her off with a slash of his sword.

The two stood, watching as she disintegrated into nothingness, both covered in golden dust.

"I think—you—we have to talk." Percy stammered.

Estella nodded in agreement.

The two were down on the ground of the empty halls, against a wall.

"So you're a demigod?" Percy asked. They looked at each other again. Brown on green.

"Daughter of Eros." Estella said.

"Why haven't I seen you at camp?"

"I ran away. When I was eleven. I got to camp when I was seven."

"Why'd you run away?" Percy added on. Estella looked at the wall in front of her. "You don't have to tell me of course. I'm just wondering." He added on quickly.

"Are Luke and Silena still at camp?"

"Silena's still there. Uh—Luke—he's sort of been against camp now. He's wants to bring back Kronos and take down the gods."

"Luke never never betray camp." Estella glanced back at him. "He wouldn't do that."

"Sorry."

XOXO MARY !!

inspired by when I went to my middle school's Halloween dance with my friends 💀 that was something else...

I hope you liked this chapter. It's pretty short but the plot is moving along.

Also idk if the Greek translation I used for "sun kissed" is actually correct. The other ones I found were more literal and meant tanned or sunburnt. But I wanted Estella'd bow to be named "sun kissed" in the metaphorical sense. So yeah. Sorry to any one who speaks Greek

Also count how many times I wrote the word sweet in this chapter. I feel like I may have over done it

Apollo mention btw
