After the events of the previous night, you were surprised at how easily you fell asleep. But after you tried to stop Jonah's ship from causing more damage, you were too exhausted and you needed sleep. The last thing you remembered was falling asleep in the car as everyone headed back home, leaving PRIDE and Jonah's dead body behind on the construction site.

You fluttered your eyes open and saw the ceiling of your room. You didn't want to get out of bed, but you needed to check on your friends is they were okay. You turned your head to the side when you heard a knock and the door opened, revealing Alex. "Hey." He greeted. "Did you sleep well?"

You sat up and sighed. "I guess so." You replied. "I actually woke up earlier, had a bath, and then went back to sleep." You stifled a laugh. "I didn't have a proper sleep in the past few nights and, surprisingly, I didn't have any dreams today."

"Well, that's good... I guess." Alex approached you with a smile as he walked into your room. "How's your head?"

"Good." You raised your hand to pat the back of your head until you winced, prompting Alex to spring forward to check on you. "Ow. Okay, maybe not." You chuckled sheepishly.

"Why would you even pat your head to check your injury?" Alex scolded you a little as he climbed into your bed and examined the back of your head. His concern made you blush a little. "You had me worried sick last night."

As Alex pulled away and sat in front of you, you stared at him in surprise. "You... you were worried sick about me?"

Alex nodded. "Well, yeah. You were using your powers to stop a massive ship from destroying California. That's dangerous."

You shrugged as you smiled at him. "It's all worth it if it means I get to sacrifice myself to save all of you."

As he touched your hands, Alex shook his head. "No, no, no. I don't want you to sacrifice yourself, okay? I don't want to lose you and I'm not going to lose you."

You stared at Alex in shock as he glanced down, rethinking his life choices all of a sudden. He huffed. "Why am I so talkative?" He grumbled to himself. Alex returned your stare while adjusting his eyeglasses. "Remember when I said... about surviving and telling you something?"

You nodded silently and Alex nodded back. "Okay, so, um..." He stammered as he returned his attention to your hands, gently caressing your knuckles with his thumbs. "The reason why... I sort of became protective of you and starting hanging out with you more recently is because..." He gulped. "I like you."

Alex's confession rendered you speechless, and you thought you'd stopped breathing. Alex continued with his confession. "And... I think I like you for a really long time, but... I was in denial. It took me a while to realize it until I started working for Darius."

'No, no. This can't be real.' You thought to yourself in panic. 'Is this real? This is too good to be real. If this is just a dream, just wake me up.'

"And this isn't a dream, in case you're wondering."

'Fuck.'

Alex locked his gaze on you as you sought to digest his confession into your mind. The voice in your head was eerily quieter than usual, which made you feel relieved but also anxious. "(Y/n)?" Alex asked, shaking your hand to bring you back to reality.

"Surely, I must be dreaming, right?" You nervously chuckled as tears welled up in your eyes. "No way can this be real. I've had these kinds of dreams before and I'm not falling for them again."

Alex suddenly felt bad after hearing your words. He couldn't tell you what was going on in your dreams, so he shook his head and stroked your cheeks to reassure you. "No, no. This is real. I promise. I'm sorry if this feels like one of your dreams, I assure you this one isn't."

You took a deep breath and carefully held his hands in yours to check if they were real. In your dreams, every time you tried to clasp his hand, it would slip through your fingers and Alex would vanish right before your eyes. You closed your eyes, sighing in relief as you nodded. "Yeah, I guess this is real..." You stared into his eyes when you opened your eyes. "I almost cried for nothing. Sorry for being dramatic."

You and Alex shared a short laugh as he leaned his forehead against yours. You clutched onto his hands as you sighed. "Alex, I..." You gulped. "I like you too, but..." You admitted.

"Are you not ready yet? Because I can wait as long as it takes—"

"No, I want to... but I got issues and I don't want you getting involved—"

"Then we'll face them together." He interrupted. "I'll face anything as long as I get to be with you."

You broke into a smile. "That's too romantic for a nerd like you, Alex Wilder."

Alex shrugged as he smiled back. "You do things to me that I can never even imagine myself doing. And you bringing my romantic side is one of them."

"That's so cheesy." You snickered, causing Alex's smile to grow bigger. "But you love it." Alex teased.

The two of you stared into each other's eyes again as you felt him moving closer. "Can I... kiss you? Again?"

You had a flashback about your first kiss. The kiss that you felt that he did out of pity because you haven't had your first one before. You were terrified he'd do it again, but after hearing his confession and now hearing him plead for permission, you felt butterflies swarming within your stomach. You nodded as you smiled.

As soon as you gave your consent, Alex closed the distance between your lips and his and took a firm grip on the back of your neck, holding you carefully. You kissed him back and felt your hands placing themselves on his chest. As his hand stroked softly on your head to avoid causing you any harm, you felt yourself leaning back on your pillow, not wanting to break the kiss. The two of you broke the kiss for a minute when you realized that Alex was now on top of you. You looked up to him with big doe eyes as you breathed heavily.

Your lips connected with his once more, and you felt his hand move to your neck while yours moved to his hair. You had no idea where this was heading, but it didn't matter to you at the moment. You wanted to cherish this moment in case something unexpected happened after all of this is over. You pulled away causing Alex to widen his eyes in complete concern. "What?" He asked worriedly. "Were we moving too fast? Did I scare you?"

You shook your head. "No, no." You replied. "I-I just wanted to say that this... we can't say this to everyone. At least not yet. After what happened last night, I don't think this is the best time to tell what we have right now. And I want to tell it to Nico personally."

"What do we have right now?" Alex asked with a playful smirk.

"I don't know, are we dating now?" You asked back with a smile.

"Sounds good to me," Alex whispered huskily before planting his lips against yours once more, unable to hide the fact that he couldn't get enough of the sensation. You removed his glasses as you smiled in the kiss and set them on top of your bedside drawer.

When you felt his lips move to land butterfly kisses on your neck, your breath caught in your throat. You let out a shaky exhale, clutching his shirt for support and trying not to roll your eyes. You gasped when he managed to spot the soft spot on your neck. "I-I don't have any experience on this..." You squeaked out as you blushed heavily.

"Don't worry, I won't go further until you're ready," Alex reassured.

Alex bit his lower lip, trying to stop himself from pinching your cheeks from how adorable you looked. "You look so adorable." He whispered sweetly to you and completely melted when he saw you blushing. "That's it for now. Come on, there is a lot of food downstairs."

He jumped out of your bed, wore his eyeglasses, and dragged you up. A small whine escaped your lips. "I want to stay in my bed." You pouted.

"Ah-ah, come on." He pulled you out of bed and interlaced his fingers with yours as you both left your room. You looked downstairs and saw Nico sitting next to Molly, who was eating Cheetos while Chase was a few feet away from Molly, and on the other side was Gert. Alex gave you a peck on the side of the head before heading down the stairs with you following behind. He took a seat next to Gert, while you took a seat next to Nico.

"How's your head?" You asked your sister worriedly. Nico gave you a short smile. "Still hurts a little bit. How about yours?"

"A bit painful, but I can manage." You answered.

Molly extended her hand to you and your sister, offering you and Nico her bag of Hot Cheetos. "Have some Hot Cheetos, you two. That usually helps me." She offered with a wide grin. "If you wash 'em down with Sprite, makes your teeth feel funny."

You chuckled while Gert smiled unsurely at Molly. "Or you could try aspirin. I hear that works."

"But aspirin doesn't turn your finger orange, and that's, like, the best part." Molly held out her thumb and pointer finger proudly to show them covered with cheese powder. You gave Molly a friendly smile before taking one from her bag.

"Last night was weird," Chase spoke up.

Alex nodded. "Yeah. The understatement of the year."

"Teamed up with our parents... to do something good."

"Was it good?" Nico questioned softly earning a few glances from Molly, Chase, and Gert.

"We're still here, aren't we?" Molly reassured. "California might have been gone if we—if you hadn't done what you did." She told Nico. Nico nodded quietly at her.

Chase sighed. "So what now?"

Alex took a look at Chase before rising from his seat to face everyone. "Just 'cause our folks did one good thing, mostly out of self-interest, it still doesn't erase all the terrible shit that they did."

"My dad's alive." Chase sighed in relief.

Gert turned to look at Chase. "Is that good? Or... bad?"

Nico took a position near the stairwell, you took a bottle of juice to drink. "Those concepts are starting to get real blurry," Nico commented before turning around and stepping up the stairs to check on Karolina in their shared room. You sighed and you rested your head on Molly's shoulder as raised your head to meet Alex's gaze.
