you and Rin Itoshi never got along from the start

you'll admit it was mostly your fault since after 9 days of harsh training nonstop then you're forced to complete a challenge in order to stay in a program and not have your entire career ruined, a person toying around with you is not the first thing you'd want to hear

and then having to spend 2 weeks with that person, without forgetting the fact that you have to share a room

yeah, not the ideal situation

and you kind of felt bad for the younger male (even if most of the time he got on your nerves)

he was stuck in a room with two people that he hated, although you didn't bother him that much, the other made up for it

Shidou just had a thing for annoying and getting on people's nerves

and the short-tempered Rin was the perfect victim

you had woken up pretty early this morning and you just so happened to meet Rin in the cafeteria

he sat on a table and you sat on another

complete silence

it was almost so silent you could hear each other's chewing

which is nasty by the way

the silence was too overwhelming, even for you

"what's so..." the male spoke but his last words came out as mumbles

"sorry, what was that?" you asked

"I said what's so good about you anyway" he repeated his words in a clearer tone

"what do you mean?" you knew what he meant, but still you wanted him to clarify it

"you know exactly what u mean" he scoffed "there's no way I share a rank with someone as weak as you"

you were slightly offended but it wasn't to the point where you'd start an argument

"in most of our matches so far, you've contributed nothing" an irked expression made its way onto his features "even that freak show has done more than you"

"and yet I'm we have the same rank "you pressed your elbow on the table as you leaned your chin onto it "I could even say I'm ranked higher than you"

"tch" the male scowled "your skills are useless if you don't utilize them"

"and yet I've been so well without them" you retorted in a mocking tone "perhaps, you guys aren't good enough for me to need them"

the male was so easily enerved, and here was a demonstration of it as he got up and slammed both his hands on the table, sending a glare your way

"well if you're so good then let's have a one-on-one" Rin suggested and you could almost see flames in his hands

you looked up at the clock seeing that it was still 9 in the morning

"it's too early man, later" you groaned stretching your arms

"you scared"

usually, you weren't one to get worked up over something this small

but Rin has just been testing you all morning and all you wanted to do right now was shut him up

"alright" you stood up "just don't whine when you lose"

the two of you stood by yourselves in the training field

one ball in the center of you two

"you can start" you stretched your legs

"you'll regret that decision" he placed his foot on top of the ball

"let's keep it simple and make it first to score a goal" you smirked

"fine by me" he leaned down before dashing in your direction

you stood your ground as the male reached you

he knew that trying to go around you was gonna be a waste of time so might as well deal with you right away

once he got past you, it was over

he stopped right in front of you and stared at your current position

legs slightly spread, arms out and slightly hunched

overall you were ready to strike at any given moment

he could try to nutmeg you but he knew better then using such a simple trick on you

using the outside of his right foot, he began pushing the ball to your right side but something in him told him to draw back and he did

"why are you hesitating now" you smiled

a bead of sweat ran down his forehead

"don't tell me donkey lashes is scared" you chuckled

if this were a cartoon, an irk mark would've appeared on the male's forehead out of irritation

either way, he had no time to hesitate and went in for the attack

he dragged the ball with the outside of his right foot and as you leaned in to block the advance, he switched to the inside of his foot, passing the ball to his left foot and dashing straight for the open spot you left

but things were never easy

you abnormally twisted your body so that your back was facing him and he had run into your body causing the ball to roll away from his feet and into yours

"the hell..." Rin slightly wince at the pain of making contact with your back

why were you so built? he felt as if he had run into a wall

either way, even if you did get possession of the ball, you were stuck as he was right behind you, basically bear-hugging you

"so what's your deal huh" you rolled the ball back and forth with the heal of your right foot while balancing yourself off Rin who stood behind you

"what do you mean"

"I mean you and senior under lashes" you clarified "you had an expression that screamed hate when they mentioned his name and the fact that he was participating in the U20 game"

"that's none of your concern" Rin's tone lowered menacingly

"brother issues?" you laughed "couldn't relate"

it was meant to be a joke but it looked like it was a sensitive subject for Rin as he pushed his chest against your back, attempting to knock you off balance

but you stood your ground because even if he was taller, you were more physically built

"guess that hit harder then it should've" you pressed you lips together

"hey, if it makes you feel better... never mind I'll keep my mouth shut" there was no fixing the damage, Rin looked at if he was about to decapitate your head

you kicked the ball with the heal of your foot and ran around Rin to catch up to the ball

he ran beside you as you, who had a headstart, caught up to the ball first

Rin came in with a slid tackle but looking at it deeply, it looked like he was trying to fracture your ankle

you lifted the ball with you left foot and jumped up as his foot swung fast past where you were previously standing

"alright alright, my fault. i know I shouldn't have went so far with my words" you sighed but your words were sincere

you admit if someone would make fun of you having a bad relationship with your family (which you don't) you'd get pretty pissed

by the time you had landed back, Rin was standing in front of you with a predatorial expression

but you were already close enough to the goal

before the ball could male contact with the ground, you shot it past Rin's head and into the net

you had won

Rin collapsed on the floor with one knee up as he pressed his elbow against it and put his hand to his head

you picked up the ball and walked up to him slowly and hesitantly cause after what you had said, you weren't sure what he would do

"hey, that was unfair since I got to your head" you started slowly "if you want a rematch then I'm up for one"

"no thanks" he sigh

"my bad for pressing a sensitive topic" you sat beside him scratching the back of your head "I would've kept my mouth shut if I had known" (that is a lie)

he huffed at your poor excuse of an apology

"if you wanna talk about it, I'm all ears" you suggested although you doubt he would say anything to you after what had happened

he sighed once more before looking up at you, his hand still holding his cheek

"my brother crushed my dreams" he stared into your eyes

'and you hate him for that' okay Y/N maybe it's deeper than just that

he surprisingly told you about his past and how he and his brother shared a dream before his brother ended up giving up

you still didn't understand why he was mad over not being able to share a dream with his brother but her, who are you to judge

"it won't comfort you but, our story's are pretty similar ignoring the fact that yours is more depressing than mine" you chuckled

"I had a match against my brother and because of me he got injured and couldn't play soccer anymore" you looked down with a smile "he was supposed to come to Blue Lock with me but you know why he didn't"

"anywho" you got up and reached your hand out to Rin "even if your brother doesn't want to become the best striker maybe you could and he'd be your partner as the best midfielder or something"

"if you manage to beat me of course" you smiled

the man stared blankly at you before reaching his hand for yours as you pulled him up

the two of you held you hands up to your faces with strong grips

"you only won cause you were distracting me, trust this won't happen again" Rin gave you a small smile

and so the two of you played with each other until Shidou found you and tried to join in which the two of you answered that you were tired and busy and left
