Amanda was yet to recover from the emotional state she had been since the whole secret admirer drama. Although she had convinced herself that he wasn't real but, anytime she goes over his letter, some part of her still believed he was.
It was a sunny afternoon, the fresh air traveled the nice fragrance of the different flowers around Elena's house.
Amanda and Bridget sat in the kitchen table while Mr. Benson made orange juice for them.
"Mr. Benson, please speak to Sharon. Elena can't-" Amanda withheld her last words as soon as she saw Elena walk in through the front door, carrying a basket filled with groceries and an extra nylon bag with fruits and bottled drinks in it.
"Ah, she's back." Mr. Benson said out.
Elena walked into the kitchen and dropped the basket and nylon bag on the kitchen table.
"Hey babes" She hollered at her friends and listened as they choruses a reply then, went over to where her dad stood, close to the electric blender.
"Welcome honey." he said spreading his arms to envelop his daughter's hug, and holding the glass jug of juice in one hand. "I hope it wasn't stressful?"
"No dad." she replied. Collecting the jug from her dad, she poured the juice into glass cups for Amanda and for Bridget.
"Dad." she called
"Yes hun,"
"That beautiful lady from the store asked after you again. I think she likes you." she said fixing her gaze on her friends who joined her in little laughter.
"I doubt that Elena." he replies holding his daughter's chin up. "Margret!" He called out.
A lady in her mid forties replied, "Yes sir." as she walked to the kitchen.
"Girls, feel at home. Whatever you need, tell Margaret and she'll make sure you are comfortable." He said, signaling at his driver who just came downstairs with his briefcase.
"Dad you don't work on Saturdays. Where are you going?" Elena asked puzzled, standing in front of him.
"Darling, I have an important business meeting to attend and I'll certainly be back before dinner. I don't want to miss my beautiful girl's cooking." He smiled at her.
"But dad, you aren't dressed for a business meeting." Elena pointed out.
Obviously, Mr. Benson wasn't appropriately dressed for a business meeting. He wore a striped polo and a black Jean. Complimenting his outfit with a black sneakers.
This was his casual weekend dress pattern which Elena was used to, being aware of the fact that her father had no fashion taste.
She would have believed if he said he was going to play golf with friends but not a business meeting.
"That's because it's not an important meeting." He said convincingly.
Elena stood squeezing her eyebrows, pouting her lips to the side like a seven year old.
"Ok, you can invite your friend from the store for dinner" he said.
Knowing he couldn't disclose any information about where he was going, he had to bribe her so she could stop being suspicious and worry about something else.
Elena smiled.
"So, can I go now?" he asked knowing that his bribe had paid off.
"Ok dad. " she agreed.
"Girls, if you are gone before I'm back, say my hellos to your Parents for me." He said to Amanda and Bridget who were still seated in the kitchen as he made his way through the front door.
Elena went back into the kitchen "Margret, please don't worry yourself. We'll order in." she told her
"Ok miss." Margret replied as she went back into the house.
"We tried talking to your father about Sharon but we can't tell if he actually listened to us while we spoke or not." Bridget complained.
"I told him last night that I'll runaway rather than to live with Sharon."
"Let's hope it doesn't come to that" Amanda said.
Elena waved the sentiment and exclaimed "Come with me, let me show you the new sewing machine my Dad bought for me." Clapping her hands together excitedly, she led them out of the kitchen and into her room upstairs.

The Heart restaurant was one of the most sophisticated restaurants in town. Everyone dressed accordingly except for Mr. Benson who left home in his casual wear.
The men in the restaurant dressed in fine suits and the ladies dressed like they were rolled out of a fashion magazine. If not for Mr. Benson's Popularity, people would have thought he was new in town.
Mr. Benson was not a man that followed trends. He always told his daughter "I wear what makes me feel comfortable. Fashion is a woman's thing."
He was a simple, straight forward, and disciplined man. He cherished his life and cherished his daughter more.
He looked at all the women in the restaurant and said to himself "One day you all will wear my daughter's design." He smiled at his thought
"It's about time." he thought, standing on his feet when he saw Sharon walk into the restaurant.
He wasn't hard to spot, their eyes met and she made her way to his table.
She sat on the chair opposite his, faintly acknowledging him then, he sat down after her.
"Did you think about what I said?" Sharon asked then watched him signal the waiter.
"May I take your order sir?" the waiter asked politely
"Please, take hers first." he told him
"A glass of Champaign will do fine, I don't intend to stay long." she said
"I'll have the same. I don't intend to stay long either." he said, sending the waiter off
"You're not looking bad." He complemented her, flashing no smile.
"Keep your complement Derek. I'll ask again, have you thought about what I said?"
The waiter came to serve them their drink.
He rested back and aired after the waiter had gone "You are not taking my daughter away from me to go leave with you and that pathetic husband of yours." He tried coating his tone to prevent the anger from reflecting but failed.
"Then give me what I want." she ordered.
"I can't give you that house either. I bought it for Elena, as her twenty-one birthday present so she can start up her fashion dreams there. She is your daughter too; don't you care about her future?"
"Save me all that, Derek. I have a family now and I need to worry about them too." she said
"So when you run into trouble you use our daughter to blackmail me? You left me Sharon. And can't your husband get a new apartment if you guys are having trouble maintaining the old one? Or did he put you up to this?" He asked trying to understand Sharon's reason.
"Tell Elena to get her things ready. I'll be stopping by to pick her tomorrow." She said angrily.
"She hates you, Sharon. And you caused it." he said.
