ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  "NEVERMORE WAS FOUNDED IN 1791 TO EDUCATE PEOPLE LIKE US," Enid explained as the trio walked downstairs into the foyer where two stairs led up to a large circular platform up above that formed hallways. There were two lamps placed on golden statues by stairs and vending machines scattered across the hall. The hallway was filled with an ocean of students, clicking their black shoes against the marble floor. Two columns behind them lead into another hallway with frames of Nevermore's past plastered onto the walls, "Outcast, freaks, monsters, fill in your favorite marginalized group here."

Enid stopped in the middle of the hallway as Elphaba and Wednesday glanced up at the ceiling and back to her, "You can save the sanitized sales pitch," Wednesday stood in front of Enid, "I don't plan on staying here for long, but I'm not sure about Elphie, she seems to enjoy your education penitentiary."

"Well, why don't you plan on staying?"

"This was our parent's idea," Wednesday drifted her gaze to a black and white photo of her mother with the fencing team, smiling right back at the girls, "Oh, look, there's our mother smirking at us," she turned back to Enid, "They've been looking for any excuse to send us here. It's all apart of their nefarious, yet completely obvious plan."

Enid smiled, "What plan?"

Elphaba rolled her eyes and drifted her gaze to Wednesday, "According to Wednesday it's to turn us into a version of themselves, but I think she's just paranoid," she took a moment to think, "or is it their plan..."

Enid only gave a light chuckle and the trio headed down the hall, "Well, in that case perhaps you two cloud clear something up," the three girls walked beside each other as Enid turned to the sisters with an expression of concern, "Rumors have been swirling around that you," she signaled to Wednesday, "Wednesday killed a kid at your old school and you," then glanced at Elphaba, "and you, Elphaba were her accomplice and your parents pulled strings to get you both off."

"Actually, Elphaba was more of a ride or die and it was two kids, but who's counting?"

As Wednesday walked away, Enid gave Elphaba a look of fear and she tried to clear things up, "Just so you know, I had no part in the... violence โ€” I kinda just followed Wednesday in to make sure she wouldn't do something... Wednesday, but she did as you're aware."

The cotton-candy haired girl's eyes widened as they continued walking, trailing behind Wednesday and Enid swung the doors open to a courtyard where students were walking around sidewalks in purple uniforms and a fountain was placed in the middle surrounding by a few lunch tables, "welcome to the quad!"

"It's a pentagon,"

Enid turned to Wednesday with a sigh, "the whole snarky goth girl thing might've worked at normie school, but here things are different," she stated with a cheerful tone before starting a walk around the quad, "Let me give you a wiki on Nevermore's social scene."

Elphaba frowned in confusion at wiki, since the Addams weren't accustomed to many of the modern parts of the world like phones or social media, "I'm not interested in participating in tribal adolescent cliches," Wednesday stated as they started walking.

The dark-haired girl glanced up at the ceiling in awe, twirling around as they walked, "I am!" Wednesday grimaced at her sister's joyfulness; Elphie was her favorite sibling, but sometimes the brightness was too much for her omnipresent gloom.

"Well, then use it to fill your obviously bottomless pit of disdain," Enid quipped, glancing around the students and count in with her fingers, "There are many flavors of outcasts here," she stated, "Fangs, furs, stoners and scales. Those are the fangs, AKA vampires," she pointed to a group of teens wearing black sunglasses at one of the tables, "some of them have literally been here for centuries."

Once the girls got a quick look at the fangs, the trio moved on to another table with teens who had very fluffy hair and howled loudly, "That bunch of knuckleheads are furs, AKA werewolves. Like me," they howled so loud, Elphaba had to cover her ears as she walked by. Enid took notice and decided to point out, "full moons get pretty loud around here, that's when furs wolf out, so I suggest you pick up noise cancelling headphones."

"Thanks for the heads up," Elphaba muttered as she slowly opened her eyes, removing her hands from her ears.

Finally, the trio stopped in the center of the quad where they spotted a group of teens sitting by a fountain, "I'm assuming scales are sirens?" The trio walked as one girl in the middle of two others moved her hand in the fountain, controlling the flowing water inside.

"You catch on quick," Enid smiled before signaling to the girl at the fountain, "And that girl, Bianca Barclay, is the closest thing Nevermore has to royalty," Enid leaned in to Wednesday and then to Elphaba on the other side, "Although her crown's been slipping lately. She used to date our resident tortured artist, Xavier Thorpe, but they broke up at the beginning of the semester."

The girls spotted a boy painting a blue colored mural, craning his neck behind, "Reason unknown."

"Fascinating,"

"I know, right? My blog is, like, the number one source for Nevermore gossip,"

Elphaba frowned in confusion, "what's a blog?"

Enid gasped in fake offense before turning around to see a kid with a beanie, "Yo, Enid! You're not gonna believe the dirt I heard about one of your new roommates," he spotted Elphaba next to Enid and gave a light wave, "Yo, what up. Anyway, she eats human flesh. Totally chowed down on that kid she murdered. You better watch your back."

The girls shared a glance before stepping aside and revealing Wednesday behind them, "quite the contrary," Ajax's eyes seemed to widen a bit as a snake slithered out a lil from his beanie, "I actually fillet the bodies of my victims, then feed them to my menagerie of pets."

Enid smiled with an awkward chuckle, "Ajax, these are my new roommates, Wednesday and Elphaba."

Ajax looked at Wednesday with wide eyes, "whoa. You're in black and white," he pointed out, looking up and down at her, "like a living Instagram filter."

"Ignore him. Gorgons spend way too much time getting stoned," Enid sighed. "He's cute, but clueless. Y'know it's a small school. There wasn't much online about the two of you. Oh, you know you should really get on Insta, Snapchat and TikTok."

There was a long pause before Wednesday spoke up, "I find social media to be a soul-sucking void of meaningless affirmative."

Elphaba gave an awkward chuckle, "Uh... the Addams aren't that modern, but I've been dying to find out what the renegade means also what is sigma?"

Enid had to snort in order not to laugh at the last bit, "Not to worry," she flashed a bright smile, "Now that you've got me as a roomate you'll be in the know!"

ย ย  AFTER THE TOUR, THE GIRLS THINGS WERE DROPPED OFF AT THEIR DORM AND THE DUO HEADED OUT to say goodbye to their family. Morticia and Pugsley were by the limo while Gomez walked up to the girls and immediately embraced them in a hug before walking them over. While Pugsley stood in an awkward manner, Morticia had a sad smile on her features.

The girls were now in full fledged Nevermore uniforms; Wednesday got the black uniform while Elphaba got the purple. Gomez placed his arms around the girls with bright smiles, "Look at you my little death trap and green lantern," as Wednesday showed no emotion, Elphaba just gave an awkward smile, "Seeing you two in this uniform brings back so many terrible memories."

At that comment, Elphaba turned to her father with a raised eyebrow, "Terrible...?"

"Don't question it,"

Morticia gave a light chuckle and glanced at the boys, "Why don't you boys wait in the car?"

Before heading into the car with Gomez, Pugsley slowly stepped up to Wednesday and Elphaba and embraced them in a tight hug, "Pugsley, you're soft and weak. You'll never survive without us," Elphaba gave her sister a look as she continued, "I give you two months, tops."

"I'm gonna miss you too, sis,"

Elphaba flashed a light smile, "Uh... see ya, buddy."

Pugsley gave her a light smile with a shrug as he headed to the limo with Gomez. Then, Morticia turned back to the girls, "any plans either of you have of running away end right now," she folded her hands in front of her, "I've alerted all family members to contact me the minute you darken their doorstep. You have nowhere to go,"

"As usual, you underestimate me, mother," Wednesday stated, folding her arms against her chest, "I will escape this educational penitentiary and you will never hear from me again."

Morticia sighed with a light head shake, "You both are brilliant girls, Wednesday and Elphaba, but sometimes you get in your own way."

Elphaba flashed a bright smile, "just so you know, I love it here."

Wednesday gabe her sister a side eye before Mortica spoke again with a light smile, looking around at her old school, "I'm sure you'll grow to love Nevermore," she said, "and find it as life changing as I did," then she presented two necklaces in her hand, "Lh, I got you both something," she held up the necklaces with a W up front first, "W... E," then put it sideways to make an E, "M. Our initials. It's made of obsidian, which Aztec priests used to conjure visions," Morticia explaijed with a smile, "It's a symbol of our connection."

The girls took the necklaces and Wednesday drifted her up to Morticia, "We are not you, mother," Wednesday stated, "we will never fall in love, or be a housewife or have a family."

"I'm told girls your age say hurtful things and I shouldn't take it to heart,"

Wednesday drifted her gaze to the cobbled road once again, "Unfortunately, you don't have one."

A smile formed on Morticia's features, "Finally, a kind word for your mother," then, she craned her neck to face the butler, Lurch, "Lurch, the crystal ball, please," once Lurh walked over with a black bag, Morticia took it and handed it to Aednesday, "Now, we can't talk to you girls on the first week while you're settling in, so we'll call you next Sunday."

Since Wednesday wasn't a hugger, Morticia tapped lightly on her shoulder and then stepped over to Elphaba and gave her a light hug. Once she let go, Morticia flashed the girls light smiles and headed over to the limo, being let into the vehicle by lurch, giving one last glance to her daughters.

ย ย  WHEN NIGHT FELL ON NEVERMORE ACADEMY, THE GIRLS HEADED TO THE DORM TO FIND THEIR THINGS ALL READY. For most of the evening, as promised, Enid had explained to Elphaba that the renegade was a TikTok dance, teaching her how to do it as well and that sigma was just a term in slang. Then, Enid and Elphaba left Wednesday in the dorm as she wished, so Enid could introduce her to Yoko, Ajax and Kent. After meeting all three, the duo headed back to the dorm where they found Wednesday giving the room a makeover, dividing the window into half and the floor.

As the door closed, Enid and Elphaba stopped on their tracks and Enid looked at her once colorful window in disdain, "What the hell are you doing to my room?"

"Dividing our room equally," Wednesday stood up, taking the colorful tape with her and headed to her and Elphaba's side of the room, "It looks like a rainbow vomited on your side."

Elphaba sighed, "I kinda missed the window."

"Iโ€”"

Wednesday pulled up a chair from her desk and sat down, "Silence would be appreciated," she pulled in the chair and got her type writer ready, "This is my writing time."

"Your writing time?"

"I devote an hour a day to my novel," Wednesday explained as she pulled up her sleeves, leaning forward to the desk, "Perhaps if you did the same, your vlog might be coherent," the top of the type writer slid right and chimed, "I've read serial killer diaries with better punctuation."

"I write in my voice. It's my truth โ€” it's what my followers love,"

Wednesday turned in her seat and stood up, walking over to Enid and Elphaba, "Your followers are clearly imbeciles," the girls were now standing face to face, "they responds to your stories with insipid little pictures."

Enid scoffed, "Oh, you mean emojis? It's how people express their feelings," she fired back at Wednesday, "I realize that's a foreign concept to you โ€” how are you and Elphaba related, again?"

"She's adopted," Wednesday stated. "When I look at you, the following emojis come to mind: rope, shovel, hole," then she turned around and walked back to her desk. "by the way, there are two D's in Addams," she added, pulling up the chair, "If you're going to gossip about me, at least get my name right."

At that, Enid put on loud pop music and Elphaba just sat down and watched as it all went down; Enid dancing and Wednesday not being able to stand it, "Turn it off," when Enid refused, Wednesday stepped up from her desk once again, "This is your final warning."

When Wednesday walked over, Enid let out colorful claws and a playful rawr. A surprised expression formed on Elphaba's features, "Cool!"

"Don't mess with me. This kitty's got claws, and I'm not afraid to use them,"

Just then, the door opened and a curly red headed teacher stepped through with muddy boots and a black and green flower in her hands, "Good evening, girls," she chuckled, "sorry about the mud. I wanted to make sure that Wednesday and Elphaba were settling in," her gaze drifted around the room's sudden change, "ah, is this a bad time?"

There was a moment of silence before the woman stepped forward, "I'm Ms. Thornhill, your dorm mom," she introduced herself as she stopped in front of the trio, "Apologies, I wasn't here to greet you when you both arrived," she glanced at Enid, "I trust Enid has given you the old Nevermore welcome."

"Enid taught me the renegade," Elphaba said with a bright smile and her arms crossed behind her back.

Ms. Thornhill nodded in an awkward manner with a cough and then Wednesday spoke up, "She's been smothering me with hospitality," the girls turned to Wednesday with smiles, "I hope to return the favor... in her sleep."

Everyone looked at Wednesday with slight fear, but then Ms. Thornhill presented the black and green flowers to Wednesday and Elphaba, "Well, here's a little gift from my conservatory," the girls stepped forward and took their flowers, "I try to match the right flower to each of my girls. When I read your personal statements in your applications, I immediately thought of those two.'

"The black dahlia,"

Ms. Thornhill smiled, "oh, you know it?"

"Of course, it's named after my favorite unsolved murder," the room went silent. "Thank you."

Then, Mrs. Thornhill turned to Elphaba, "I know yours is a little on the nose, but when I heard you're named after the character from wicked all I could think of was green, so I picked out the Coneflower Green Jewel."

"Thank you,"

Ms. Thornhill nodded before turning to all three of the girls, "okey-dokey. Before I leave, I wanted to go over a few house rules: lights off at the, no loud music, and no boys, ever."

"What's the story on going into the local town?"

"Passes to Jericho are a privilege, not a right," Ms. Thornhill explained. "It's a brisk twenty five minute walk, or there's a shuttle on the weekends," she clasped her hands together, "the locals are a tad bit wary about Nevermore, so please don't go making any waves or perpetuating any outcast stereotypes," then she turned to Enid,"that means keep your claws to yourself and no smothering people in their sleep or any green magic, are we clear?"
