Eli's mom had always liked Kit, mainly because Eli never told her that Kit turned into a bully, only ever that they'd drifted. So, when the girl needed a place to stay, she had a place to stay. The basement had a bed moved into it, all Kits stuff from her apartment currently in it. She hugged her mom goodbye, saying she'd see her after the All Valley, and watched her catch the next flight to Colorado. And now Kit was here, living with the Moskowitz', soaking up the large basement that she got to herself most of the time.
She did this every year, refusing to sleep before twelve rolled around, her birthday. Before they were robbed, Kits parents would bring her a balloon and have her blow out a lit lighter until later that day. But, that was before. They were never perfect, her mom still forced her into bad diets and her dad still was a sketching little bitch, but they were happy sometimes, just sometimes. And her birthday was always one of those days.
Not this year.
Kit gave a small smile when she saw the time flip to twelve, staring at her phone in the dark room. "Happy birthday."
As if on que, a message came though. Tory was the last person Kit expected to hear from this late, on today of all days. Hitting her name, her contact name still having a pink heart next to it, Kit opened the message.
Happy Birthday. Don't worry about the drive in, no one's gonna ruin your birthday.
Kit trusted Tory's word, even if she knew she shouldn't. Something about the text, something about how quick she sent it, how she was up this late when she never was, it sparked something in Kit. She missed Tory, she craved any form of look, any form of attention from her. She missed her girlfriend, her girlfriend that was still there, just blinded by the wrong people.
Kit had became her own person without Tory, and she was happy about it. She knew how to stand up for herself now in a way that didn't have to cause violence, she joined the cheer team again, she embraced her inner self that she was always scared Tory wouldn't like. She totally did, Tory always liked Kit, she'd like her always, even when she was fighting with Miyagi Do, she'd still love her.
Thing was, Kit knew that. That's what was different about them. Kit would love Tory either way, even mean like this, even on the wrong team. But she wouldn't take her back when still fighting for Cobra Kai, no matter if she wanted to. Tory would take Kit back, even with Miyago Do, only because she knew she could convince her to leave. That's what was wrong, it wasn't Kit, it wasn't Tory, it was the stupid karate war between their separate teams.
Thank you.
Kit stared at her phone, seeing the little bubbles. She sat up quickly, her body feeling hot, her heart racing, not being able to sit still.
Tory: You gonna get a christmas theme cake?
It made Kit laugh, her phone screen lighting her entire face up.
Kit: yeah, maybe. Or gonna go sit in a freezer and eat ice cream to get the whole winter effect.
Tory took a minute to answer, Kit staring and tapping her phone to keep the light from flipping off.
Tory: I had something bought for you before we broke up. I don't know if you still want it.
Of course Kit wanted it, she wanted her. Her head was spinning, it was late, she was alone, and the first girl she'd even been absolutely insane about was texting her. Not to mention, the whole forbidden thing was really secretive and mysterious, and Kit loved that.
Kit: Wanna meet so you can give it to me? No one's around to see us.
Tory: Now? I've got work in the morning.
Kit frowned, biting the inside of her mouth to try and think of something to say, something to suggest.
Tory: I'll see if I can start the evening shift a littler earlier. Where are you?
Kit grinned, sitting up as her bottom lip was bitten into painfully hard.
Kit: Somewhere you won't like.
Tory: Wanna meet me at the skating rink?
Kit blinked slowly, the skating rink. She remembered when her and Tory had became friends, and Kit showed up when she was working there, just them, and they skating for a while. It was sentimental to them, Tory knew that when she said it.
Kit: See you in fifteen.
Both of the girls threw their legs out of bed on sync, running to their closets to find something impressive but not to look like they were trying too hard.
Eli's house was farther from the skating rink, which is why Kit grabbed an uber. She may not be happy with her dad, but she wasn't gonna deny his big bucks if he was offering it. And he definitely was. Kit got out of the car, knowing Tory was likely here already considering the apartments were only two blocks from the skating rink. Kit went to the back, because she knew the front door would be locked and they always left the back opened.
When she pulled it open, there was only two lights. The food stand had invested in LED lights when they realized the bright white ones were really clashing with the vibe of the rink. A deep pink and a light blue got brighter as Kit walked down the little hallway, finally making it to the opening to see Tory leaning against the foot stand, the lights illuminating half of the rink. She heard Kit come, turning to see her walking in.
Kits eyes flickered down to her own yellow hoodie she gifted Tory the other day, hiding a grin. "Hey."
"Hey." Tory said back to her, holding her head up a little more as she glanced at Kits choice of green tank, that was too low cut for her not to stare, and the same white cardigan from the drive in. "Feel older?"
"Not really." Kit gave a minor grin, leaning against the counter like she had, keeping a space between the two. "I guess, just in a weird, mature way. Like, realizing I need to act a little older now."
Tory rose an eyebrow. "That's what your brian is thinking?"
"Did you know in some places seventeen year olds can be questioned by the police without their parents?" Kit asked her, getting a questionable look. "And can apply for a pilot license to fly a hot air balloon."
"A hot air balloon, huh?" Tory laughed slowly, low and just once. "Is that something you'd want to do?"
"Not a fan of heights." Kit said back with a shake of her head. "Probably should just stick with being questioned by the police without my parents."
Tory grinned, digging into her pocket and yanking a little bracelet from inside. "It's not real, so it might turn your wrist green. Didn't know how to wrap it either."
Kit took it from her hands, looking at the single charm. A little Kit-Kat bar connected to it, resembling the real thing. Kit grinned, Tory watched her. "I saw it at one of those stupid stores that you try not to get stopped by at the mall. Turns out they're not all over prices, but not real."
"If you coat it in clear finger nail polish, it won't turn you green." Kit looked at Tory with a grin. "I love it, thank you."
"Need my help?" she nodded toward her hand. "Or, do you got it, on your own?"
Her little way of hoping Kit saw that she was trying to let her be independent.
"I think I can do it." Kit pushed her wrist into her stomach to hold the chain still, latching it. "Yup, there."
"They said you can add more charms, I don't know where to get it though." Tory said back with a minor shake of her head. "I'm sure you can find somewhere though."
"I'll get another one next holiday." Kit gave a minor grin, leaning on the counter more. "I'm glad you texted me."
"Well, you did drop me off this." Tory tugged on the hoodie slightly. "After the sprinklers."
"Sorry about that." Kit said back with a minor shrug. "It was a hot night anyways."
Tory glanced at her face. "Glad to see you're not getting the shit kicked out of you anymore."
"Yeah, new guy hazing." Kit shrugged in return, looking for something to talk about to change the subject. "How's your mermaid job?"
"Egh, got fired." Tory said back with a faint frown.
"Fired?" Kit rose her eyebrows, because she knew she'd been fired a lot. "So what n-"
"I took your place at the ice cream shop." Tory cut her off with a nod of her head. "Definitely a lot better then putting a ton of glitter on everyday."
"Yeah, not many people come in to bother you either." Kit agreed with a nod. "It's a good place, the boss is really laid back."
"You ready for Colorado?" Tory asked Kit, getting a shake of her head. "It snows a lot there. You love christmas and the cold, maybe it's meant to be."
"No." Kit shook her head with a minor sigh. "But, it's only for a year."
"You're gonna come back for college?" Tory asked. "Assuming your dads gonna pay for it now."
"Yeah, he will." Kit took a breath with a nod of her head. "I just know a lot can happen in a year. I don't wanna feel replaceable or anything."
"You're not." Tory stoped her with a serious look. "Seriously."
Kit met her eye as Tory stared intensely as her. She took a breath. "Don't you wanna do some scientist thing?"
Kit cracked a grin. "Forensic Science Technician."
"Nerd." Tory grinned over at her. "I heard you got back on the cheer team."
Kit frowned her eyebrows. "Where'd you hear that?"
"Some kids from the dojo still go to West Valley and were talking about the cheerleaders at the pep rally. Heard your name come up." Tory shrugged as Kit nodded. "I just thought you hated cheer."
"No." Kit shook her head. "Wanna know something?"
Tory nodded as Kit almost laughed. "When I tried out freshman year, and I made the team, the captain had this weird initiation thing. So, she made me throw balloons of shaving cream at a group of golfers. It took me a second to realize my own dad was one of them."
Tory snorted. "Did he see you?"
"We had to wear mask, so, no." Kit cracked a grin with a shake of her head. "Thankful, I didn't have to this time."
Tory watched Kit twist the charm in his hand. "Kingmessia misses you. He's getting huge."
Kit smiled. "Do you have a picture?"
"Yeah." Tory pulled her phone out. Kit walked forward to stand next to her, looking down at her phone as Tory pulled up a picture of a much bigger Kingmessia, laid next to her own head. "That's where he sleeps now."
"Aw." Kit gushed as she laughed. "He is getting big."
"And mean." Tory agreed. Kit turned to face her, now so close, their chests touching. Kit scanned Tory's face while the Nicholes girl turned her phone off. She shook her head, but stayed in place. "I knew this was a bad idea."
"A really bad idea." Kit agreed, grasping Tory's face as they fell into a harsh kiss. Tory grasped Kits waist the second her lips were on hers, yanking her in harshly so her entire body was against hers. Kit hummed against her lips, making Tory grin into their kiss. Kit reached for Tory's hand on her waist, slipping it into her back pocket. Her hands trialed off of Tory's face, feeling down the front of the yellow hoodie, pressing her hands under it.
Tory yanked back when she felt her, grasping Kits hands and using them to spin her around. Now that she was backwards, Tory pulled the cardigan off her shoulders as she kissed her neck. Kit tilted her head to the side with a sigh as Tory continued to kiss along her jaw, making her way to her collarbone, where she bite her slightly. Kit laughed, unexpected. Tory's hands went around Tory's waist, finding the hem of the green tank top and pulling it upwards. Kit rose her hands, letting the brunette yank it over her head.
Turning her back around quickly, Kit met her by the mouth immediately. The feeling of Kits black bra under her hands made her finally realize she was leaving her exposed. Finally, she pulled her own over her head, Kits eyes immediately locking with a red bra, one she'd never seen but was obsessed with how it looked on Tory. The Nichols girl placed her hands on the back of Kits thighs, leaning down a little to help her up on the counter.
"That was easy." Kit cracked a grin.
"So easy." Tory agreed, kissing her heavily again. Her hands pushed against her waist slightly to encourage her to lean back. Kit did slowly, scared she'd hit the counter too hard. Tory pushed onto her rib cage as Kits was laid against the counter, the angle making her back arch by default. Tory pulled on the strap of her bra slightly, making it pop her when she let go, kissing her stomach. Kit breathed heavy, laying back against the counter with a breathy sigh of relief as Tory continued kiss door her torso.
