LOUISE DAVIES was far from an average woman. Yes, she cooked and cleaned and shopped and was one of the most stunning women in Newcastle with her long mousey brown locks, large doe eyes, sharp jaw and plump lips. But her sweet facade can be quickly broken the minute you get to know her. She may look sweet and innocent, but she is one of the loudest, rambunctious women in all the UK. Perhaps it was the stigma of being another carbon-copy of an innocent unmarried girl that threw Louise off of the cliche, but she knew it was because of the influence of her cousin, Alex.

When they were younger, Alex would playfully tease Louise enough to make her get up to his energy level - which was always too high. And ever since, the two would always bounce off of each other's energy until everyone around them got too irritated to handle them. As they grew older, Alex's playful energy turned into protectiveness - even though he lived in Chesire, a full 3 hours drive away from her, he always hated every man that tried to pursue her. No one in his eyes was good enough for her, which in return left Louise to be a 25-year-old single woman. Her parents were getting desperate for her. To make matters even worse, her older brother, Andrew,  and younger sister, Carey, were already married off, leaving the middle child alone in her endeavours.

Even though she was different to other girls in the way she behaved, she still did want what any other young woman would in 1939 and that was to get married and start a lovely family of her own. As much as Louise adored Alex, she did hate him for scaring off any flying chance she had at being married. But she still loved him, nonetheless.

So when news came of Germany invading Poland and the British Army declaring war on Germany and that her father - Gerald -, Andrew and Alex would all be shipped off to fight for the country, it made Louise feel sick.

Of course, she hated the fact that all her loved ones were in danger and she couldn't do anything to stop it, but that certainly didn't stop her, Carey, and Andrew's wife, Viola, from enrolling to be a nurse for her local military hospital. What she wasn't expecting was for it to be overcrowded with both patients and nurses. The hospital couldn't handle so many people in it's building so they decided to move nurses to other locations - Louise being one of them. The brunette nurse had been relocated all around the UK by the time she had celebrated her 8 months as a registered nurse. She had travelled from Scotland to London, helping as much as she can, but no matter how good of a nurse she was, she couldn't avoid being drafted to into the battlefield. Thankfully, she did have Carey and Viola with her all the way, the three of them managed to all be relocated to the same hospital as the others. Soon enough, the three women grew incredibly close - closer then they were before - perhaps it was a way of keeping sane from all the cries of agony that would ring through their ears whilst working 12 or more hour days in a cramped, stuffy hospital.

The three girls' time in the London hospital was cut short however when they were drafted to sea. They luck continued as the three managed to be stationed on the same hospital ship, set for Dunkirk. Louise didn't know where Alex, Andrew or Gerald were in the world, but she prayed to God that all were safe and strong.

There was nothing more important to Louise than family

so I want to drag this story out a lot, just to make it a bit more B E E F Y so I have come to the conclusion that this love story will, unfortunately, be a S L O W - B U R N. Now, I don't like slow burns at all - I just want the main characters to be fucking on the second chapter, but for the sake of the length of this story, I have sacrificed my desires to give y'all an agonisingly slow romance.

I have done a fair bit of research into the Dunkirk fanfiction world and haven't really found many stories (between OC and Collins) where they give the OC more of a background. Most kinda just sling them with the Dawsons and George right away (like makes them neighbours with them or is the daughter of Mr Dawson of something like that) and I didn't really want to fall into that trap so went with something DiFfErEnT (watch it, I'll find a story where it does exactly what I want to do). I'm not saying these stories aren't good, I thoroughly enjoyed reading all the stories I have read for Collins, but I couldn't help but notice a reoccurring pattern between all of them.

Hope y'all enjoy this different approach to a Collins fanfic and hope you don't get bored :)
