the group looked at the screen, excited. but nothing — nothing at all to be found. " shut up! " kiara yelled, " what? it's true " jj shouted back. leilani tired of the two small arguments, " the gold could be buried. we don't know " kiara shrugged, leilani nodding in agreement.

" if it was there it would've been found on the metal detector, okay? — somebody beat us to it " john b spoke. jj started the boat, as leilani went over there as well, " or it was never there.. " jj added on quietly making her hit him a bit on the back of the head. as everyone stood in complete silence and awkwardness

leilani, kiara, jj, and pope all decided to go watch an outside movie while they didn't even know where john b was. " so happy they are still doing this? " well, maybe try showing it more " leilani rolled her eyes at pope and his bore face.

" my couch was pretty comfy to be honest " jj shrugged, " well, now you get nature " she smiled up at him making him scoff playfully while setting up his chairs. " im order something, what do you want? " kiara asked, " it's good, i'll go. i'm already up" leilani informed, kiara nodding before telling her, all their orders

" uhm, a ginger ale and two pepsi, please " leilani ordered, the man nodding. " leil! " she heard befor turning and seeing rafe. " what's up? " he asked. the brunette being kinda surprised by his presence - as they only hanged out sometimes ever since they were twelve before they were practically best friends.

" he'll know " rafe told her, leilani grabbed her ginger ale, " ginger ale, of course " rafe said as leilani started to walk away, " bye " rafe said at first, leilani hesitated before saying it. " what'd you guys do? " leilani asked while handing them their sodas

" i haven't done anything yet " jj raised his hands in defense, " real good " leilani nodded sarcastically, " he told me to tell one of you guys " tell you friend we know what he did " she titled her head at the two boys, who just looked at each other

" uh, where is he? " jj asked, leilani titled her head their ways as all of them turned on cue making her shake her head, " wow guys. don't even try not to be obvious " she sighed. before turning back to the kooks and waving at them - it was known they probably weren't close, but she still hoped they could be friends, those were the people she grew up around, she kinda smiled when they waved back.

when she turned back, she heard jj talking to pope. " if they corner me, i'm coming out swinging, slice and dicing. i'm on my edge right now, if that doesn't work i got this right here " he showed his book bag as both kiara and leilani looked at each other thinking the same thing — gun.

" we just gotta stay in the group — they can't get us in the group " pope added. " like a school of fish! " jj explained. pope nodding, " im sorry, jj.. " kiara started, " please tell me you did not being a gun here! " she whispered shouted looking between the blonde and his bag

" jj there are kids! " kiara finished, " and police! " leilani added looking at a cop car passing by to make sure everything was okay. " kie—leilani, i didn't bring the gun. everything's fine, okay? " jj looked at them, leilani shook her head at jj, shocked and annoyed

" all proceeds.. " the announcer spoke again, jj sighed before looking between the girls. " it might go down tonight. " pope warned, " what does that mean? " kiara asked — obviously confused. " might go down tonight? " leilani repeated, " what did y'all do? " kiara said

" deny, deny, deny " jj said. making the two girls scoff.

jj and pope randomly stood up making them confused, " hey where y'all going? " kiara asked confused. " we gotta wring it out " jj shrugged. " together? " leilani raised an eyebrow, " your gonna hold it for each other? " kiara added. but the two were already walking away

" boys i swear " leilani shook her head - kiara nodding in agreement, " finally a sane one " kiara said.

the two turned back to the screen before seeing fighting in the back, " these idiots.. " leilani trailed off — already knowing who the people were. " stay here " kiara warned grabbing the bag that jj brought. leilani tried her best to distract the cops from noticing the scene as she made small talk

until the screen lit on fire. the cops stopped talking and walked to the scene - as the brunette mentally sighed. she walked behind the screen, seeing the fight. " kelce get your hands off jj! " leilani exclaimed as the boy followed. kiara helped pope up while leilani did the same but with jj

" your an idiot " she said. him just laughing a bit, " oh my — your bleeding so much. i swear i'm gonna kill kelce " she rambled. while he just tried his best to move his feet. " but are you okay? " leilani frowned, the blonde nodding " all good " he added on as she smiled

leilani started to walk away, she heard a faint. " i love you " from her dad as she said it back.

the whole group minus john b, decided to help popes dad at his shop. " don't let it get in your head, three of them, two of us some typical kook stuff right there " jj scoffed, kiara agreeing. " it wasn't him! it was me, he tried to talk me out of it. but i was mad because he'd just been beaten up, i was so sick of those kooks from figure eight that i lost my mind. i can't let you take the blame for something i did, you've got to much to lose " jj lied as leilani rubbed her temples

" what are you doing jj? " pope asked, " telling the truth. for once in my life, i'm gonna tell the truth " jj announced. " i stole his old man's boat as well " jj added. " jj come on " leilani and pope both said. " just shut up. he's a good kid — you know where i'm from.. this was all me "
