β€” HOWEVER MUCH SKYLER HATED THE TOWN, she had always known she'd find her way back there someday.

"Hello brothers." She whispered to the air, to the house, to her memories, and to her brothers who were too far away to hear.

Her story in this town wasn't finished yet. In fact, she was beginning to believe it had only just begun.

Not wanting to focus on this matter any further, she forced herself out of her own head and turned away from the house, she wasn't ready to say hello to them again. Not yet anyway. She had a few things to do first...

"Kol! Stop moping over your lover and pass the human to me." Rebekah complained from the seat beside Kol, a space in between them left empty for Skyler though she wouldn't be joining them. To be clear, Kol wasn't moping, he just missed his wife and really he didn't think that was a crime. It'd been centuries since the two had been apart for this long and he did not like it.

Nonetheless, Kol passed the human they had found for a bite to eat over to Rebekah and wiped the excess blood from his lips. "I'm done anyway."

"Will you be like this the whole time she is gone?"

Kol paused, as though taking a moment to think and then promptly responded, "Yes."

"She is my wife, and soulmate. I have the right to be upset when my brother forces her away."

"I didn't force her." Klaus rolled his eyes, "You've always been one for the dramatics, Kol, but please try not to lie, I'd hate to have to snap your neck."

"Get creative with your threats at least." Kol snarked, tired of his brother and everyone that was not his soulmate. While Klaus tried to restrain his anger, Kol stood and made his exit, heading up to his bedroom where he shut the door and laid down on Skyler's side of the bed, inhaling her scent deeply before he reached out and grabbed his phone to check and see if she had sent anything yet. To his delight, she had.

Skyler
Made it to Mystic Falls
Mystic Hell*

He snorted, and typed a response.

Kol
Have you seen your brothers or the doppelgΓ€nger yet?

Skyler
Unfortunately
... it was actually nice to see my brothers. I almost missed them, but I miss you more.

Rolling over onto his stomach as he resisted the urge to kick his feet like a schoolgirl as a smile spread across his face.

Kol
I miss you.
Rebekah's already complaining about my "moping"

Skyler
I'll be back as soon as this cursed plan is done.
Have you looked at houses near Mystic Falls?
I hate you not being near me.

Kol
Not yet. They've been trying to keep me busy.
But I will, I hate not being near you too.

Skyler
Always?

Kol
And forever, my gem.

With a smile on his face, Kol stood up and made his way to his computer where he made haste searching for houses near Mystic Falls, as far and yet as close as he could get to the town.
It didn't matter if it was sold or not, as he did not care if he had to compel anyone. He just wanted to be close to Skyler. Hopefully, before he drives his siblings to insanity.

A few hours later in Mystic Falls, Skyler sat in her brand new sleek black classic Mustang, possibly the best thing to come from this town, she had a cup of coffee from the Mystic Grill in hand, and her car was parked outside the Grill. Her tinted windows hid her from the view of onlookers as she enjoyed her coffee, she was relaxed, determined to spend as much time away from the Salvatore house as she could, not quite ready to face her brothers. That was until she saw Katherine Pierce walking down the street. She tensed, her hand gripping her cup a little too tight. She watched her walk down the street, the plastic cup held tighter and tighter in her hand getting ready to pop.

"ELENA!" A voice called cheerily, running up to Katherine and simultaneously pulling Skyler back to the present as she let out a breath of relief. It wasn't Katherine, it was Elena Gilbert.

Granted it didn't make it much better, however, if she was not prepared to see the doppelgΓ€nger, she surely was not prepared to see the real Katherine Pierce. And she hoped she wouldn't see her, ever again or at least until Katherine laid in a coffin for eternity, or it would be far too soon.

Skyler set her coffee down and curious, she watched the girls walk down the street. Despite everything the Mikaelsons had told her of the doppelgΓ€ngers to prepare her, nothing could have prepared her for the startling likeness of Katherine Pierce and the strangely human teen girl in front of her now.

Deciding she couldn't delay any longer, she forced her eyes away from Elena, turned on the car, and drove away.

It was time she faced her brothers.

Damon stood by the bar, pouring himself a glass of bourbon while Stefan was upstairs, doing homework of all things. He scowled, he still didn't understand why his brother decided to go back to school. He's a vampire, he could do whatever he wants, and he decided to go back to school? Willingly? Something clearly wasn't right with him.

The sound of somebody moving around near him jolted him out of his thoughts, "Stefan?" He called, no response.

He heard another noise, this time he was able to determine it was not Stefan. It was too light and delicate, the opposite of both brothers. On guard, Damon set his glass down and took a step forward with narrowed eyes.

"Who's there?" He asked, glaring at thin air. Then β€” another noise, another footstep. A vampire, clearly as they moved too quickly for a human.

Suddenly, Damon rushed forward and grabbed the unknown vampire, pinning them against the wall roughly, prepared to snap their neck. What he was not prepared for was to see a familiar face staring back at him in fear of all things.

"Skyler?"

Skyler β€” his baby sister, oh god he'd pinned his baby sister against the wall, he almost killed her! β€” groaned, "Remind me not to surprise you."

"What are you doing here?" He questioned, letting her go with wide eyes.

"I heard you and Stefan were in town, thought it was time for a reunion." She winced, brushing off dust from the sleeve of her leather jacket, "Next time, I say we do our little family reunion in any other town."

Damon stared in shock, he knew she'd been turned too, had been with her for a time at the start of their lives as vampires, however, it'd been so long since they'd seen each other, he hadn't even been sure she was, well still around at all.

"Damon?" Stefan called as he made his way downstairs, "what's going on?" His breath left his body as he stepped down the last stair and came face to face with his twin. "Skyler?"

Skyler smirked. "Miss me?"
