Chapter 48
Hii I was going to write a funeral scene for Regulus but instead I've changed it to they think he's missing because I wasn't really into the funeral scene and didn't want it to be boring. <3

"What was in our stars
That destined us for sorrow?"
After Sirius left, Kira received an owl from the Blacks. They wanted her to visit and speak to some Aurors about it.
She half-heartedly mumbled a thanks to her siblings, they taught her to lie.
She needed to lie. The morning before visiting was spent coming up with a story that had no holes. Mostly why she hadn't contacted the Aurors sooner and what she knew of the situation.
She didn't want to go to the house Regulus grew up in. It filled her with dread, she didn't know if she would stay composed in a place that was apart of his life for so long.
The more she thought about it, the sadder she got. He died so young. He didn't get to have kids, they didn't get their wedding.
They didn't get to grow old together.
"Kira, stop," she mumbled to herself when she noticed her breathing start to quicken.
She had to be strong. For him. For herself.
She hated this.
She hated the distraught look on Walburga's face, the bags under her eyes. Kira took a deep breathe and let herself be pulled into the older woman's embrace. She didn't like her, but now wasn't the time for that.
After saying hello to everyone, which included Orion, Bellatrix and Narcissa, she was led inside and offered some tea.
Kira hated the silence. She wanted the Aurors to arrive and get the questioning over and done with.
She took another sip of her tea and had to restrain herself from letting out a sigh of relief when they heard a knock on the door.
A man and a woman stepped inside. Both were dressed in neat suits and a notepad and quill floated behind the woman. Kira suspected it was a self-writing quill.
"Good Morning," said the woman. "You can call me Miss Finn, and this is Mr Ludwick."
"Morning, Morning," He said, a polite smile on his face.
Orion stepped forward, "Nice to meet you, now let's get this done."
Miss Finn scanned as one by one, "What are the relations between each of you and the missing person?"
Walburga mumbled, "Parents."
Narcissa pointed between herself and Bellatrix, "Cousins," and then pointed to Kira, "This is his fiancée."
They all nodded numbly.
The woman nodded, "Alright, let's start."
Kira was last to be questioned. She spent some of her time waiting talking to Narcissa. Mostly about Charles and how he was doing. Narcissa let her know that her father was around him more often now that he was getting older, hoping to turn him into the perfect Death Eater. She assured Kira that she was trying to keep Charles away from him as much as she could.
Kira could not just take her little brother, her father would come after herself and the rest of their family. She couldn't put them all in danger.
"Miss Rose?" The woman poked her head out from the study where everyone was being questioned. "We're ready for you."
Bellatrix walked out of the room and Kira walked in.
She gazed around the room, but she regretted it once her gaze landed on a photograph of Regulus in his first year on one of the shelves.
She closed her eyes for a second to regain her composure and settled into a plush chair.
Miss Finn began the questioning, "You're his fiancée correct?"
"Yes," Kira cleared her throat.
"I don't see a ring."
Kira had taken the ring off after Sirius left her house. It hurt seeing it all the time, so she instead put it around a chain on her neck.
She lifted a hand and found the chain under her shirt. She pulled it out and showed it to the two Aurors. Once they nodded, she dropped it.
"When was the last time you saw him?"
Kira pushed back the memories of that day, the last time she ever held him in her arm. The last day she would ever kiss his lips or feel his body against hers when they hugged. The last day she ever heard his voice.
"Four days ago."
"Can you explain what happened the last time you saw him?"
Kira took a deep breath to calm her breathing. She hoped they saw that as her struggling with the situation and not with her being nervous.
"He went out to visit friend," she began. She owled Evan this morning to ask him to lie if the Aurors questioned him. She briefly explained an edited version of what happened to Regulus. The same thing she told Sirius, he was doing a mission for the Dark Lord and he went missing.
"Which friend?"
"Evan Rosier. He went out during the afternoon, I'm sure what time. He wasn't home the following day, so I owled Evan, and he said that Regulus left the previous night already. He never came home."
"Okay, and why didn't you report it earlier?"
"I thought maybe he'd gone to visit some other friends. It wasn't until yesterday that I told his parents I hadn't seen him in 2 days."
The aurors nodded, "Thank you. We'll keep an eye out for him."
Mr Ludwich spoke before she could leave. "Is there any chance he could been working with You-Know-Who?"
"No, I lived with him and I can assure you he has no Dark Mark." She hoped she came off as offended by the accusation.
"Crossed him maybe? Didn't do something for him?"
She shook her head, "I don't know."
And then she left the room. She was glad that was done.
She didn't know if she could survive another minute in this house. She missed him and it killed her.
