CHAPTER SIX
"Are you okay? Is Ray getting heavy?" Klaus asks Stefan as he carries the sleeping Sol on his back. After a little convincing, Sol had let Klaus compel her to have a good rest, one without nightmares.
"I'm fine."
"You sure about that? We've been walking for quite some time now. Do you need some water or a little sit-down?
"You know, I get that we're stuck together... But if we could maybe just skip the chit-chat it would be great."
"So much brooding," Klaus mutters as they walk further into the forest, the sounds of voices in the distance filling the supernatural's ears. "Your self-loathing is suffocating you, my friend."
"Maybe it's because I'm a little tired of hunting werewolves. We've been at it all summer even Sol's getting tired of it. When will you let her go home, let her mourn with her brother... Better yet, when are you going to tell her you killed Jenna?"
"Looks like we've found ourselves a pack."
Stefan sets down Ray's dead body in front of the pack members, effectively grabbing their attention before taking Sol off Klaus's back and placing her on his own.
"Ray, oh my god. What's going on? Who are you?" One of the members asked, their voice shaky.
Klaus nods at Stefan before looking back at the wolves, "The important question is, who am I? Please, forgive the intrusion. My name is Klaus."
The female wolf stands up slowly, "You're the hybrid."
Klaus smirks, "You've heard of me. Fantastic."
— — —
"It's fascinating, actually. A werewolf who isn't beholden to the moon. A vampire who doesn't burn in the sun... A true hybrid," Klaus speaks to the pack, though they were all shaking in fear at just the sight of him.
Stefan sighs as Ray begins to wake up, feeling Sol shuffle in her sleep before burying her face in his neck once again, her breathing slowing down.
"Excellent timing, Ray. Very dramatic."
"What's happening to me?" The man groans as he writhes in pain.
"Stefan?" Klaus asks, the younger vampire standing up, handing Sol back to Klaus before walking over to Ray, "Are any of you human? Your friend here needs human blood to complete his transition to a vampire. If he doesn't get it, he will die."
"Doesn't take much. Just a sip," Klaus adds as Sol subconsciously moves closer to him after a cold breeze blows past.
"What about her?" One of the wolves asks, pointing to Sol who was still in a compulsion-induced sleep.
"Anyone touches her, they die immediately. Got it? Good... You."
Stefan vamp sped over to the blonde human before biting into his arm and forcing the blood down Ray's throat as Klaus continued to sit protectively by Sol.
"It's the new order, sweetheart. You either join us, or you die."
"I'd rather die than be a vampire," the woman, presumably the alpha, states.
Klaus smirks as veins appear under his now golden eyes, "Wrong choice," He utters before feeding the girl his blood and snapping her neck all while Sol continued to sleep on his back.
— — —
Sol groans as she starts to wake up, her eyes opening only to close as the sunlight hits them. She squeezes her eyes closed before opening them once again only to see trees surrounding her. She goes to move her head though something stops her; someone's leg.
She glances up only to see Klaus smiling at her, earning a groan. "Why did you have to be the first thing I see after waking up? It's like a nightmare come true."
His smile only widens at her words as he helps her sit up, her eyebrows raise at the sight of the dead wolf pack, "I see you two have had your fun."
"You missed the best part, love... It didn't work. Stefan left for the hotel already."
Sol frowns, empathy gripping at her chest as she stares at the upset hybrid. "I'm sorry, Klaus... I know you really wanted it to work out- I even wanted it to."
"I know... Let's go to the hotel, yeah? You look like you've been sleeping in a forest all day."
The human smiles at him, "So do you, Klaus."
— — —
Instead of stopping at the hotel, the pair decided to walk around one of the many small towns in Tennessee.
"Come on- come on. Try this one on," Sol urges as she hands Klaus a baseball cap, the vampire immediately turning away in disgust. "I will not even look at that god awful piece of clothing."
Sol frowns as she glances down at the white cap with the words 'Mother Trucker' in all caps. "I think it's cute. It'll be a good conversation starter for, you know, when you want to make friends that aren't me."
"I have friends."
"Oh really? Where are they?" Sol questions as she glances around.
"They're- They- Just give me the goddamn hat."
Sol grins before popping the hat on his head, a small giggle emitting from her lips at the sight.
"You look like an angry puppy. So adorable," she teases.
"I hate you."
"Oh no, you love me Klaus and you know it."
A/N
Sorry, this one's a little short... but it's cute so that makes up for it. Updates will be slow on the week of the 11th as I will be out of the country, however I am trying to stockpile a few chapters and edits for that time :)
Also! Kol is coming soon. Who's excited??
