CHAPTER SEVEN

"Welcome back to Chicago, Stefan... and Sol," Klaus smirks as the trio exit his black suburban.

"What are we doing here?"

"I know how much you loved it here... Bringing back the good old ripper days... And you Sol, I know you love it here."

Sol rolls her eyes at the man's dramatics, "Do you have to be so cryptic."

"Blacked out most of them... Lot of blood, lot of partying. The details are all a blur."

Klaus smirks at Stefan's answer, "Well, that is a crying shame... Guess we'll have to bring you back up to speed."

— — —

"Chicago was magical," Klaus speaks up as Sol and Stefan stare out at the skyline, Sol watching as a couple dances in their apartment, another couple screaming at each other in the next.

She sighs before glancing back at the hybrid, "Why are we here? I don't think this is werewolf territory."

"Down to business, are we? My favourite witch is here, she's going to help me with my problem."

"I didn't know there were spells to enlarge one's penis... Guess there's a first for everything, Microdick."

"Oh bloody hell, I thought you forgot that god-awful nickname."

"I will never forget my sweet, cute little microdick."

Stefan grimaces at the pair, "You two are disgusting."

"What are you looking at, hero hair? Go back to brooding while the adults talk."

"We have had our fun. The hybrids failed. I mean, don't you want to move on?"

Klaus scoffs, "Like I said, we are going to see my favourite witch. If anyone can help us with our hybrid problem... it's her."

Sol smirks as the hybrid walks away, leaving her and Stefan alone, "He's definitely going to get some supernatural viagra from her."

Stefan smiles, "Oh most definitely... You think he can even get it up after all these years?"

"I heard that!"

— — —

"Looks familiar doesn't it?" Klaus questions as the trio walk into a bar that was almost empty, with only three people sitting at the bar.

"I can't believe this place is still here," Stefan answers as a woman walks out from the backroom, "You gotta be kidding me."

"So, a hybrid walks into a bar, says to the bartender–"

"Stop," The woman says, cutting off Klaus from finishing his terrible joke. "You may be invincible but that doesn't make you funny."

Sol chuckles, "Finally. That's what I've been saying this whole trip... She gets me."

"Well aren't you a pretty little thing..." The woman trails off as she looks up and down at Sol.

"You're Gloria," Stefan mutters as he moves to stand closer to Sol not liking the way the woman was watching her. "Shouldn't you be-"

"Old and dead? Now, if I die, who's gonna run this place?"

"Gloria's a very powerful witch," Klaus informs as he himself also moves to stand in front of Sol, slowly wishing he hadn't brought her.

"I can slow the ageing down. Herbs and spells. But don't worry, it'll catch up to me one day."

"Stefan, Sol, why don't you go and fix us up a little something from behind the bar?"

"Yeah, sure thing," Stefan mutters as he holds onto Sol's forearm, gently leading her behind the bar.

Stefan grabs three glasses and a bottle of bourbon from the counter before instructing Sol on how to pour it.

"I'm twenty, Stefan. I think I know how to pour a drink."

He smiles, "Then why are you doing it wrong?"

Sol rolls her eyes before shoving the bottle into his hands, "Fine, do it yourself then."

"Is that you Sol?" A male voice asks from across the bar.

The woman glances back, Stefan doing the same only to see two brunette males and a redhead.

"No fucking way," Sol mutters as she excitedly walks over to the group.

"What are you doing hanging around an original, kiddo?" Mary, the redhead, asks as she embraces her old friend in a hug, Santiago and Lance following suit.

"We're friends... sort of. I've been helping him find wolves."

Santiago smirks, "Didn't know you had a thing for originals, sweetheart."

"What? No. Ew. He and I are not dating or- or doing anything- ew."

"Whatever, you say sweetheart... How- How have you been doing since everything happened? No one's heard from you since you went back home."

"I've been holding up... Can't be sad forever, right?"

"You lost your husband, Sol. It's okay to be sad."

Sol nods, staring down at her muddy shoes before looking back up at Santiago, a smile painted on her face, "I know... But I'm getting better, really, I am. Surprisingly enough, going on a random goose chase for werewolves with two psychopaths has helped."

"That's our girl," Lance exclaimed as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders, placing a kiss on her temple.

Back on the other side of the bar, Klaus and Gloria spoke though Klaus was still listening in on Sol's conversation just in case.

"So, what am I doing wrong? I broke the curse."

"Obviously you did something wrong. Look, every spell has a loophole... but a curse that old, we'd have to contact the witch who created it."

"Well, that would be the original witch. She's very dead."

"I know. And for me to contact her, I'll need help. Bring me Kol and Rebekah."

Klaus smiles, "They are a little bit preoccupied."

"They have what I need. Bring them to me-"

"What is this?" Stefan asks, holding a picture as he walks closer to the hybrid and witch.

Klaus glances down at the picture only to see himself and Stefan dressed in their twenties attire, "Well I told you, Stefan. Chicago's a magical place."

"But this is me... With you."

— — —

"But this doesn't make any sense. Why don't I remember you?" Stefan asks as they walk into a storage unit, Sol trailing behind them. After her long chat with her old friends she, Stefan and Klaus went to retrieve the hybrid's dead siblings.

"You said it yourself, that time had a lot of dark holes."

"If you knew me, then why haven't you said anything?"

"I've been a little busy. Memory lane will have to wait-"

Stefan stops him, grabbing onto his arm and forcing him to face him, "What the hell is going on? Answer me."

Klaus smiles as he forces Stefan's hand off his arm, "Let's just say we didn't get off to a brilliant start. To be honest, I hated you."

Sol chuckles, "Funny, I felt the same way when I met both of you."

"You and my sister were quite close, you know."

"Your sister? So I knew another original vampire."

Klaus nods before walking away, "If you can't handle it, then don't ask. Sol, love, will you take the dagger out of Kol for me? Then you and I need to have a little chat."

The human nods before walking off to the coffin on the far right side. She pulls the lid off, revealing his face once again before she pulls the dagger out of his chest. She grimaces at the sound of the knife scraping against his flesh but continues to pull it out before handing it to Klaus.

"That was disgusting."

— — —

"Why didn't you tell me?" Klaus asks as he and Sol sit next to the coffins. Stefan had left a few minutes prior to 'catch some air'.

"Tell you what?" Sol mutters as she plays with her fingers, twisting one of her rings.

"That you had a husband... and that he died."

"Technically I already told you."

"Hm? When?" Klaus asks confused, watching as she fiddles with the ring that lay on her pointer finger.

"I think it was the first day we met? Yeah, in the school. I told you my best friend died... He wasn't only my best friend."

"Oh, Sol... I'm so sor-"

"Don't," Sol mutters, cutting off his apologies. "Don't apologize for something you didn't do. And besides, I'm fine now."

"You don't just get over something like that, love."

"And I didn't, not for a long time... I turned to sex and drugs and alcohol for the first few months until Santiago, Lance and Mary got me through it. They helped me stop using and then they sent me home once I was well enough... Then I met you and surprisingly knowing you has helped a lot."

Klaus stays silent for a few minutes before speaking up, "I killed your aunt."

"What?"

"I killed Jenna... I used her as the vampire sacrifice. If- If I had of known I was going to like you so much I never would have laid a hand on her- I'm so sorry, Sol."

Sol takes a deep breath, inhaling the cold air as wind nipped at her ears, turning the skin pink. "I'll forgive you... On one- no three conditions."

"I- Alright... What are your conditions, love."

Sol smirks, "Oh you shouldn't have said that, puppy."

— — —

A chuckle emits from Sol's lips as she scrolls on her phone, sitting on one of the dusty couches that sat next to Klaus's coffin collection. She glances up when she hears a soft bang only to see nothing.

She sighs before getting up and checking the coffins only to see Rebekah's empty. Her eyes widen, footsteps getting louder as someone walks closer to her.

Sol quickly turns around, seeing the blonde woman with blood dripping down her lips. "So, you must be Rebekah... Hi."

"You're cute, are you my snack?"

"God I wish," Sol mumbles, "No- Um Klaus told me to give you this if you woke up before he got back," She answers as she hands the beautiful blonde a piece of paper with the words, 'don't kill the girl. she's a friend- touch her and the dagger will be back in your chest' - nik.

Rebekah glances from the note and Sol before shrugging, "Since when did my brother have the ability to make friends?"

"Believe me, it surprised me too."

The blonde's pink lips upturned into a smirk, "I see why he likes you," She stated as she looked the girl up and down, "You're cute, love."

A deep red blush coats Sol's cheeks, her eyes also turning a similar shade of red. "Oh- I- Thank you?"

Rebekah smirks as she walks closer to the human, her hand coming up to trail along Sol's jawline, "Maybe I'll have to take you from him."

"Rebekah, dear sister, please stop enticing my friend."

Both girls quickly turn to face Klaus who stood smirking at the entrance. "Has Kol woken up?"

Sol shakes her head, "Nope. His skin hasn't even changed colours."

Klaus chuckles, "I'm surprised. Usually, it's Rebekah that chooses to be dramatic."

"Go to hell, Nik."

"Hell? It looks like we are already there," A new voice speaks up from behind Sol.

"Jesus fucking christ, do all of you originals have to sneak up on me?" Sol mutters as she turns to see Kol who now stood.

"Well if you're my own personal hell I sure as hell don't mind. What's your name, darling?"

Sol groans as she turns away from him, facing Klaus once again, "condition one, keep the annoyingly hot one away from me."

The hybrid smirks as Sol walks out of the warehouse, Kol going to follow her only to be stopped by Klaus, "Sorry, brother but I can't let you follow her. I killed her aunt, therefore I owe her."

"Have I ever told you how much I hate you?"

"Yes... Multiple times."
