Physical Description
Mara Sparks is a dark-skinned girl of African-American descent with dark hazel eyes and curly dark brown hair {her natural hair color/look}. Currently, she has grown her hair to be medium-length and wavy. In addition, the top half of her hair now has bangs, which she dyed dark purple [along with the top half of her hair].

In her casual appearance, Mara is usually seen wearing a black leather jacket with pink undertones over her grey blouse, dark blue-ish leggings and black semi-high laced boots with two lightning bolts symbols displayed on each boot. She can also be seen wearing a dark pink buttoned up dress with light pink undertones, dark pink high-top socks and matching boots, but this particular outfit is usually reserved for warmer weather and/or when she gets bored of wearing her typical outfit.

When playing with her band The Starlets, Mara is seen wearing a light blue T-shirt with five black stars [to symbolize each member], ripped black jeans and starry blue high-top sneakers. If it's cold, she'll add a black leather jacket with five stars on the back for extra warmth and she'll occasionally wear it for any reason. Mara will also have a yellow star painted on her right side of her face, along with little golden studded star earrings and a star-shaped necklace that she wears to every concert/band practice. When she quits the band, she'll no longer wear this outfit but she'll keep the band jacket for the sake of her own memories.

In her formal attire, Mara's hair is elegantly pinned down {within the same fashion as a crown-based hairstyle} and curly, rather than her wavy looks. Furthermore, she is seen wearing a black tuxedo with a white bow tie, black shoes and a little red rose tucked in her front pocket. Regardless of any outfit, she is always seen wearing black nail polish as she enjoys painting her nails black.

Does your character own any pet(s)? If so, list them.
Currently, Mara owns a pet spider whom she affectionately refers to as "Penny." Penny is a black widow type of spider with a bright blue electric spark engraved onto its body. Mara has a tendency to bring Penny on her adventures and often has to make sure her pet spider isn't at risk of dying or biting those around her.

Penny (despite her appearance) is a relatively tamed spider. She is friendly and enjoys little scratches on her neck. As long as someone doesn't try to frighten her or come as a threat, Penny will always remain calm with new people. Yet when Penny is threatened or frightened, the spider's first instinct is to bite and while Mara is able to stop her, this won't always be the case....

Relationship(s) with listed family member(s), if any
Isabella Sparks - Initially when she was younger, Mara and her mother had a typical mother-daughter relationship. Yet after her father's death, the two drifted apart as her mother threw herself into her work and Mara relied upon music to get her through her father's death.

Though the two are not close, Mara does care for her mother โ€” even when, her mother is always referring to her as a disappointment for not wanting to be like her. So when her mother takes a sudden interest in her, Mara is suspicious and as she learns things about her mother, she'll come to realize that there are some secrets that are better left buried.

Eventually after Mara is experimented on and brutally tortured by her mother, she'll come to resent her mother for the things she put her through to the point where when her mother [eventually] passes away, she'll feel no empathy nor emotional attachment towards her.

Matthew Sparks - Mara was extremely close to her father prior to his death, often being known as a Daddy's girl due to their similarities. She often loved seeing him work and loved recording things with him. So when her father passed away, Mara took his death hard as it was the first major tragedy she faced.

Yet when she comes across her father's old place in New York [as her parents were a few months into the divorce when her father died], she discovers something that challenges everything her mother told her. So, when her father leaves a final voice recording with the message "right the wrongs of the past," Mara will takes his words to heart and in the process, she'll be closer to him.

Personality:
Spunky, fearless and perhaps a bit too arrogant for her own good, Mara Sparks is best described as a "firecracker waiting to go off." Mara is an adventurous person by nature and isn't afraid of facing danger โ€” if anything, she runs to the danger. As such, Mara is known as the "reckless one" in her group of friends. Furthermore she'll often act before thinking, which has definitely landed the girl in trouble.

In addition, Mara is someone who will follow her instincts. When she is suspicious or in some cases (passionate) about something, she'll devote herself to that thing. She'll go to the lengths necessary to get the best outcome to her situation. Because of this, she tends to clash with her mother, who chooses to take things at face-value, especially when she mentions her father.

However at the end of the day, Mara cares deeply about her friends [who she views as a extended family]. As such, she is loyal enough to keep their secrets and when faced with her mother wanting her to betray her friends, Mara doesn't hesitate to refuse and that is the catalyst for the things to come...

She does end up experiencing a drastic personality change after enduring the events of her mother transforming her into a meta-human. When she is saved by her friends, she attempts to downplay the situation and tries to live her life as the way it was before the experimentation took place.

However, Mara ends up bottling her emotions up and becomes more isolated from the things she loved, dropping out of the Starlets band and the Roller Derby club. So, when Mara attempts to fixate herself on her girlfriend [Calista Diaz], Calista will be unable to deal with her. After Calista makes this explicitly clear through their breakup, Mara will then be the one to start pushing the others away from her, believing she's the problem to everyone else.

However, when April and her friends finally get through to her and they help her on her healing journey, Mara will slowly but gradually become the person she was prior to the traumatic event she endured. However, instead of pursuing the Starlets or rejoining the Roller Derby team, she ends up going with Yearbook and Journalism and starts to find her passion for the same career as her father once did.

Powers
Note: These abilities will occur later on.

Electricity Manipulation: Mara will gain the power to control electricity, which will initially be influenced by her emotions. Because of this factor, the extent of how much electricity she can control is unclear. Depending upon how strong her emotions are in the moment, she can be capable of creating blackouts [but to what degree is still a bit unclear].

Once she's able to have a better grip on her emotions, Mara will be able to control the limitations of her electricity manipulation, which she can set as it's ultimately up to her mindset. The stronger her confidence is regarding her ability, the more effective her electricity manipulation powers will be.

Electric Punch - Beginning with a surge of electricity in her hand before using it as a weapon, Mara can punch the enemy with her electric strike, that will send them flying backward and deal incredible damage.

As time goes on, Mara will begin to find variations on how she can use the electric punch to her advantage. She will ultimately learn that striking in the right areas can help render larger foes to become unconscious and depending on her opponent, she can shut down the technology around them.

Although Mara will rarely use this power in the future [due to its incredible strength and unpredictability], it's a vital part of her arsenal.

Electric Blast - Mara's electric blast is a step up from the traditional punch. Mara can channel that energy through her hand into an object, creating an explosive outcome and through experimenting, Mara will discover that she was most effective when she used the palm of her hand for the ability, rather than simply relying on her fingers [as she was initially doing].

Initially, she'll need to be in close-range for this ability, which will make her reluctant to use, mainly because her friends don't want her to get injured. But when she's able to convince them that she'll be fine, Mara will be able to put this power front-and-center.

As such, Mara will be able to blast her enemies with this ability, simply by placing her hands on the opponent before unleashing her full might. The consequences of such an explosion could cause severe danger, though, if operated in an unstable backdrop as she is capable of creating massive amounts of damage.

Weaknesses
Confidence: As Mara has relatively grew up without powers, she'll initially become distraught upon gaining her abilities since it meant her mother succeeded in creating "the weapon" she always wanted. Because of this, Mara will initially want to actively avoid her powers, which will ultimately blow up in her face when her powers start to make themselves known.

As she starts to regain the confidence she initially had and starts to have more faith in her powers, Mara will start to have a better grasp on her powers, which will soon lead to some extraordinary discoveries.

Because Mara will have better control over her powers by the time she's an adult, she is able to help Kriana with her own powers when it becomes clear to her and her wife, April Sparks-O'Neil, that Kriana found a way to acquire the same electrical powers as she and her mother had.

Inexperience: As Mara grew up without powers, she will be completely unaware on what it means to be a "meta-human" or how to even properly handle the powers that were forcibly given to her. It also doesn't help that Mara is unwilling to tap into her powers [initially] due to the trauma inflicted onto her from obtaining them. As such, the girl will still not completely sure what her powers make Mara capable of and this handicaps her effectiveness because of this.

However as she slowly learns to use her powers, she'll gradually build upon her own experience, so that by the time she's an adult with kids of her own, she'll become ready to teach Kriana everything that she knows regarding her electrical abilities. As such, she'll act as a teacher to her daughter and even then, she'll be caught off-guard by the things Kriana can do that will differentiate from the powers she and her mother held.

I. "You are always telling me what I can and what I can't be, mother, but you're wrong. You don't get to tell me how to live my life and neither does anyone else. So, no. I'm not going to be like you. I'm going to do my own thing, because this is my story and I'm going to shape it the way I want to. Not your way."

II. "Funny. Last time I checked, I didn't join this band to talk about my feelings. I came to join the Starlets to drum those feelings out and that's it. Actually, I don't even need this group. I quit."

III. "Penny! Are you okay, girl? Did Cameron try to step on you again? Do you want me to fight him? [she looks to Cameron] If you attempt to hurt my spider again, I will kill you! No one comes between me and Penny, no one."

Future/Next-Gen Quotes

I. "Kriana, I get that you're excited about your powers, but you can't just jump into any situation without a plan first! You need to strategize and you need to โ€” [Mara stops when she realizes Kriana is not there] ... and you're gone. [she then sighs] That girl is going to learn the hard way, I guess."

๐Ÿ„ต๐Ÿ„ฐ๐Ÿ„ฒ๐Ÿ…ƒ๐Ÿ…‚ ๐Ÿ„ฐ๐Ÿ„ฑ๐Ÿ„พ๐Ÿ…„๐Ÿ…ƒ ๐Ÿ„ผ๐Ÿ„ฐ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ„ฐ

1. Mara will initially be in a loving relationship with her current girlfriend, Calista Diaz, up until her trauma takes hold of her. She'll fixate onto Calista, overly projecting her feelings, which will upset Calista, who quickly [but unintentionally] makes it known to her that she is the problem. This will ultimately lead the two to break up and eventually drift apart as friends since the two left such a negative impression on each other at the end of their relationship.

2. Unlike Kaz in Equestrian Tales: Little Sister [written by Sci-Briana14] who was born with his powers, Mara will forcibly be given her powers through her mother, who will be extremely fixated on the idea of having her own "personal weapon" to use against the turtles, Henry Hart/Boy Danger, Hamato Sofonisba [OC belongs to GeekyCookie1] and Princess Briana Sentry-Hamato [OC belongs to Sci-Briana14].

3. Because Mara is not well-accumulated with her electrical powers and dealing with the trauma her mother brought upon her, her emotions will initially influence her abilities. For example, when she becomes overly emotional, she'll create a blackout [this ends up being the case when Calista breaks up with her]. However, as she comes to terms about her fate and views her powers not as a product of trauma, but as a way to help others, she'll start to influence the way her powers are perceived.

4. In many ways, Mara ends up resembling her father, Matthew Sparks, as it's his own adventurous spirit and "throwing one's self into danger" mindset that shaped the way she grew up. More so, her father will influence her long after his death as Mara will be inspired to become a journalist.

As such, she ends up following in his footsteps, rather than that of her mother โ€” who wanted the girl to become a renowned scientist like her.

5. Mara's favorite subject was science, but after her mother saw this and forcibly tries to get the girl to organize her life around science and be with well-minded individuals that her mother deems fit, she comes to despise science โ€” often skipping the class out of spite to rebel against her mother's wishes.

She will eventually come around to finish the course when her science teacher [whom she also knows as her mother's lab partner] is able to convince her to come back.

6. Although Mara is pressured to be perfect by her mother, Mara often refuses to let her mother dictate how she should live her life. Because of this, her mother frequently tells her that she's a disappointment, but Mara doesn't let her mother's words faze her, since she already knew she was a disappointment from the start.

7. Though Mara is very much her own person, this character was partially influenced by Miles Morales from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and the movie's sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in terms of Miles's personality and the powers she gains.

She is also influenced by Gwen Stacy/Ghost Spider from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and the movie's sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in terms of the way Gwen handles her grief and being in a band aspect.

8. Mara's powers will be different [to some extent] from her mother and this will also be the case when Mara comes to discover that Kriana's powers will also be different [to some extent] from hers and her mother [not that Mara would ever let Kriana or any of her kids know about Isabella but still].

For instance, Mara has access to using an electric blast and punch but her mother won't have this ability. Rather, her mother will have access to create lightning bolt strikes and projections that she uses to attack her opponents as Shockwave. Furthermore, Kriana is the only one with the ability to turn invisible and gain electrical teleportation capability as Mara nor Isabella Sparks will not have these skills.

9. While Mara will be reluctant to use her powers at first due to the trauma she gained from obtaining them, she'll also be reluctant not to use them as she will still vividly be able to recall the intense pain her mother put her through into seeing what she could do. Her mother's approach also heavily influenced her decision not to use the powers she was forcibly given [initially] along with the initial fear she had.

So when Mara learns of Kriana's powers, her first instinct is reassuring her daughter that her powers are nothing to fear, but to her own surprise, Kriana is excited about her powers. Furthermore, Mara will serve as a mentor to the girl, helping Kriana use her powers but Mara will quickly learn that Kriana is a fast learner. However, Kriana will still have some lessons to learn as Mara and April's younger daughter will lack the patience and maturity needed to understand her powers.
