-3rd person's P.O.V-

"I'm kicking both asses! Both!" Katherine says dramatically entering the hallway of the hospital looking for her sisters having been called by Dimitri who wasn't coming up behind her.

She heard one was injured and that the other one had caused the injury. She hadn't heard why? She had sprinted over before he could finish speaking to her.

Lissa and Rose's eyes widen looking the way she would enter. "Here she comes" Lissa sighs preparing.

"Yeah, she clearly needs a chill pill" Rose says and both smile the way of the redhead who had a scowl on her face and crossed arms.

She frowned. "They don't look hurt. I was told one of you were hurt," she walked over examining them looking at arms, legs, heads, and faces causing Rose and Lissa to huff and groan. "Neither looks hurt" she turned to Dimitri who sighs going to explain.

"I got it," Rose says. "Lissa did but healed me after and feels bad but let everything out. Also, broke up with Aaron and we're on good terms now" she smiles at the end of her sentence.

Katherine rubs her temple. "Dimitri next time speak faster so I don't have my heart in my throat coming all the way here" Dimitri purses his lips knowing exactly she hadn't let him finish.

Lissa rolled her eyes at her little sister. "You're so dramatic" she says.

But just as Katherine was here to see them Kirova was too. "I'm so glad you're both alive and not at each other's throats" Katherine groaned loudly making it obvious she didn't want the headmistress here.

She took a step aside beside Lissa. "Why are you even here?"

Kirova sent her a glare. "This whole matter of the Spirit has taken us by surprise. Until the advisers arrive from Romania, we'll be sequestering you girls into a bunker. Away from any excitement. No classes, and obviously you will not be attending the Equinox Dance tonight"

Katherine laughs. "Have fun doing nothing" she says to her sister as Kirova spoke looking at them both.

"You too, Katherine" the headmistress snaps at the princess who scoffs.

She was actually up for the dance now. She needed some fun. To get away from the sudden sadness that had taken over her yesterday.

"Oh, nonsense" Prince Dashkov comes in the room with Natalie. "Please, you have to come" begged Natalie looking at them. Katherine pouts nodding.

"I'm gonna go with the headmistress on this one, Prince Dashkov" Rose agrees with someone she didn't like. What's new for them.

"Huh?" Katherine says amused.

"Besides, we're all forgetting the most important thing. We have nothing to wear" Lissa did point out one of the important things about the dance.

Katherine crossed her arms with a huff. "Right"

"There the god's have smiled upon us. Today is an overcast day, and I have engineered a little shopping expedition" Prince Dashkov says to them making Katherine smile.

"You're the best!" she puts her hands into fists happily.

"Kat wants to see? Please? You know how much I need your help. And plus, when has shopping ever not cheered you up, Lissa?" Natalie begged them as both girls pouted.

Lissa and Rose shared a look then both turn to their younger sister who had the most pouted lip ever.

Katherine and Natalie won. Here they were heading inside the mall as she breathes in the air of the outside world of the Academy. She was glad to finally be out of there. She felt like a bird in a cage.

Dimitri opened the door for her and she smiles cheekily as she takes his hand hopping off the black car. "Thanks" she says as he closed the door behind her.

"Katerina," he calls and she hums in response. "I'd like you to take this" Spiridon hands him a flashlight who then passes it to her.

"Ooh, what for?"

"You and your sisters will be exposed today. This causes a blinding flash of UV light. But you some time" Spiridon tells the girl who smirks.

"Hm cool" she flashes it and her jaw drops. "Very cool" and then she Hogg's up to follow her sisters into the mall.

As they continued deeper inside Katherine watched the people walk by them. Some smiling others on their phones as they seemed to have fun doing things in their completely normal lives.

She got to have a little of that life when they escaped and Katherine enjoyed it. Of course, sometimes she messed up since well she made some stupid decisions while on the run.

She just hoped she didn't run into them.

As the three girls walked around in silence Lissa thought it was a bit awkward. "So, my superpower turned out to also be my Kryptonite" she says making Katherine grin.

"Wow, your Highness with the pop culture reference" Rose smiles.

Lissa nods laughing along. "You know I...I confused power with popularity-"

Katherine's head snaps over to the loud shrieking and feels an arm take a hold of hers. Dimitri has a stone look on his face as she looked up at him. "Someone's protective" she whispers and he lets go slowly.

He looked away from her with a small grin on his lips.

"Ever wonder what it'd be like to be like that?" Lissa asks her sister and Rose which made them shrug.

"Had it for a moment" Katherine shrugs.

"It's not our destiny" Rose shakes her head not really thinking about it. "Destiny? I hate that word. You know, "royal responsibility," "the Moroi come first," it's all so twisted" to think that her best friend had to literally give her life for hers seemed very unfair.

Katherine though had it very twisted. She was full Moroi, full Dhampir. The girl was the one to come first but also give up her life for the other Moroi. She was sure Rose would be Lissa's guardian.

But she needed to be assigned, someone. Or get someone assigned to her. She didn't know, sure even the advisers didn't know.

"It's not twisted. I'm your Dhampir and you're my Moroi. Done. Some days were kooky teenagers and other days I'm risking my neck to protect you from an ancient race of predatory vampires or whoever else, and that's life. At least until they come up with a better word for it" Rose chuckles reassuring Lissa.

Katherine sighs showing a small smile.

"Somebody looks tense. Free massage?" a man who was only trying to do his job comes closer to Lissa but Rose grabbed him by the arm holding up her fists only to see an innocent in pain man.

Katherine muffled a laugh as she covers her mouth trying not to burst out laughing. Rose sees what she had done and holds the dues shoulders.

"I'm really sorry. I'm so sorry, okay?" she pretends to massage him. "Run" she grabs both Katherine and Lissa.

Katherine waves goodbye to the man. "Don't worry I'll help you get payback" she says to him clearly not letting this one go.

I absolutely love this mall scene. Rose taking on the poor man who was only trying to do his job cracked me and Katherine up. She will never let that one go. The next chapter is in the writing so look out for it soon.
