I stood next to Alby and Thomas while looking at the words carved into the one wall of the box, it was a bunch of names. I read each of them carefully when I turned my head to look at Thomas, " what are these for? " I mumbled when Thomas licked his lips thinking.

I looked back at the specific names that had an x crossing through them, " what happened to them? " I pointed to the names as Alby spoke up, " like I said.. " he paused for a moment, " -..dark days, Mavis " he replied as I looked over at Thomas who nodded in agreement, I was told about this earlier but I didn't think they were serious about this.

Thomas handed me a knife telling me to carve my name into the wall, I nodded so slightly before walking over to the wall looking for a place to put my name. I saw Newt and Thomas's names near each other so I decided to carve my name next to Newts, I started walking through the grass with Chuck for a little while. " has anyone ever tried climbing to the top? " I asked him as he glanced over at me and nodded.

" tried it " he replied sounding a little devastated, I find it strange that these people have been looking for a way out for pretty much 3 years. I would have died a long time ago if I had to do this, I continued having little conversations with Chuck for a little while. It felt like having a little brother around except not annoying.

As I was walking a straw looking box was thrown at me and I caught it without hesitation, I blinked trying to prosper what even just happened when Newt spoke, " want to be helpful green bean? " he said to me when I just sighed and nodded, " sure what do you need? " I raised an eyebrow, " go dig us up some more fertilizer alright? " he patted my shoulder when I made a salute with my hand.

" I'll see you later Chuck " I smiled at the boy who nodded and started running off after what seemed to be Gally, I stuck my tounge out when he looked back at me and continued walking towards the woods. I'm just assuming that's where you would get fertilizer from, I took the shovel out of the bucket as I held onto the handle looking around after every step I took.

It would be really helpful if Thomas was around to help me or even Newt, but I guess I've gotta learn to do things on my own for once. " just gotta get fertilizer, Mavis. " I said to myself as I made some whistling sounds while looking around, not even gonna lie these woods kind of startled me and I wasn't really the kind of person to get startled walking through trees and nature.

" you sure, guys? I mean I can't help any other way but no Mavis has to go through the creepy ass looking forest for fertilizer " I continued talking to myself knowing I have literally nobody else to talk to right now, I wonder if they made Thomas do these things. I figured out that Thomas actually arrived a month before I did so I mean I wouldn't be surprised if they made him.

" you know exactly where the fertilizer is, I mean it's just out in the middle of the creepy woods that lurk in the back of this box " I kept saying to myself as I kicked at random rocks I'd walk past or walk over, I'm very childish when it comes to going on normal walks, I looked around as the sun shines through the leaves nearly blinding me but I thought it was making the forest seem more beautiful other then it's creepiness.

It honestly felt like I've been walking for days in these woods, I dropped the bucket along with my shovel when I saw a stream of water not a big one but a small one. I touched the water with the tips of my fingers, I felt the shivers from the cold liquid go through my body. I stood up wiping my fingers on the bottom of my pants.

I continued walking forgetting about my bucket and shovel when I started looking at these cool things I found in the woods, I knelt down when I read a sign that said George, I didn't know who George was as I tilted my head to get a better view at the thing built for George. I looked to the side when my ears starting ringing and I saw bones all right next to me, human bones. A rib cage and all sorts of other parts.

I got up slowly as I felt my heart beating through my chest almost, I turned around feeling rather unsafe and wanting to just get out of the forest already. My heart nearly skipped a beat when I quickly stopped myself when I saw a person standing behind me looking at me, " oh my! You scared me " I held my chest as I pushed my hair back, " uh.. you're ben right? " I asked in an awkward tone as this was really weirding me out.

" I'm not sure if we have ever, you know.. met? " I nibbled at my bottom lip as I stared at the boy, I took a small step back when he made a growling sound. I didn't think that was a normal thing but honestly everything about this place just doesn't seem normal anymore, " are you okay..? " I stuttered as I tilted my head a bit he looked rather Ill, he just kept growling at me as I started taking a few steps back. " okay Ben.. look I'm a friend not an enemy alright.. " I put my hands out as in a way people do to settle a horse down.

" -..look are you okay? " I said again my voice in a panic, he kept scrunching his face up whenever he would growl more and more violently now. My heart really felt like it was about to explode out of my chest as I started backing away even more now, " I'm not gonna hurt you Ben.. listen " I said my voice shaky as I felt really terrified right now. Suddenly he started running at me as I went to run but tripped on a log and fell backwards onto my back, " Get the hell off me, Ben! " I screamed as I kept fighting him back.

" it's your fault! I saw you, and Thomas! " he had a snarling sound in his voice, " ben.. I don't understand, what is my fault..?! " I held his arms up with the strength I still had keeping him away from me, " you guys did this! I saw you! " he said again using more strength against me, I screamed a little in pain as I used my upper body strength to hold him back a little longer.

He gripped onto my wrists way more harder now and it felt like the insides of my arms were being ripped apart, I screamed in agony as I looked over at my wrists. I looked back at him when he suddenly grabbed a hold of my neck, I started gasping for air while trying to shove his face away from me, " ben.. please! " I barely said as I felt very little air left in my system anymore, he kept making shaking growling sounds. I managed to punch him in the cheek but that just angered him even more, " somebody!... help me please! " I barely screamed as I kept fighting back.

I grabbed a hold of a skull right next to me smashing it onto the side of Ben's head, right when he finally lost grip around my neck I shoved the boy off of me. I started getting up as I felt my leg get grabbed and I fell back down again onto my stomach. I looked back at him, " let go you freak! " I screamed kicking him in the face before getting up fully and running. I ran up a hill grabbing onto a tree to help pull myself up I could hear him right behind me, I ran and ran and ran as fast as I could feeling out of breath and feeling like I was gonna pass out.

" hey! Hey! " I screamed while running I could feel the wind against my face pushing my hair out of my way as I ran as fast as I could, he grabbed a hold of my shoulders, " no! " I yelled before tumbling forward and rolling down a hill as he had also started rolling down, I felt like I could barely even prosper anymore. " hey! " I screamed again getting up to my feet, my vision was getting more blurry as I got closer to the opening.

" help! " I screamed again running as fast as I could feeling like I was gonna die any second now, " help! Help! " I yelled waving my arms in the air while shoving leaves out of my face, " help! " I finally ducked under one more pair of leaves before finally running out into the open waving my arms around like crazy, " Mavis! " I heard Newt yell as he started running over with people, suddenly Ben had thrown himself wrapping his arms around my legs as I fell down onto my stomach again.

" hey! No! " I yelled as Ben continued attacking me no matter what got in his way, " I'll kill you girl! " he screamed in my face grabbing onto my neck again and slamming the back of my head down onto the grass, I felt my ears ringing from that as I felt like I've gotten a concussion. " come on! Come on! " I heard yelling all around, he slammed my head again down on the grass. He gripped onto my neck more and more as I struggled to breath, the ringing in my ears got louder and louder and the throbbing in my head hurt more and more, my vision got more blurry.

" Hey! " Newt yelled as Ben looked up getting whacked across the face by something Newt had been holding in his hands, Thomas ran over to me kneeling down next to me as Newt quickly did the same on the other side, the whole world was spinning for me in that moment. My eyes felt so tired that I couldn't even keep them awake, " Mavis? You okay..?! " Chuck grabbed onto my arm as he sat down next to me, all the voices around me started blurring out as I felt myself falling asleep again.

I thought I died until my eyes slowly started opening again and re adjusting to the vision, I looked around as I groaned from the pain, I started sitting up but then was put back down again when Newt ran over to me, " woah there green bean, you took some nasty hits earlier you better stay resting " he stood next to me wiping his hands off with some kind of towel.

" where am I? " I questioned realizing I wasn't in the same spot I was before on the grass, I was under some kind of shelter, but it still had openings just a roof that's all. " well this was the only place Thomas and I thought to take you to, so you could get better " Newt nodded. I lifted my hand up touching my head when I realized I had a bandage wrapped around my forehead. " Alby said it's best for you to have that " he reassured.

" what happened to him? " I asked as Newt sighed for a moment, " it's what we call the changing.. it's what happens when someone gets stung " he said as I looked over seeing Chuck was sitting in a spot next to me the whole time, he smiled at me as I gave him a little wave.

" do you know where Thomas is? " I asked fully sitting up in my seat when Newt looked a little annoyed that I wasn't listening to the whole getting rest rule, " you need rest Mavis " he sat down next to me. " I'm fine I'll get rest later I just really need to talk to Thomas " I said as Newt pointed off towards a group of boys. I noticed the boy with the bluish shirt right away.

" okay thank you, appreciate it " I patted his shoulder before hopping up out of my seat and walking over, I wasn't gonna run because I needed to be careful anyways about my head. I still felt really unsafe walking around here even tho Ben was gone, I felt like I was still being haunted by him every second now. " Thomas? " I said tapping the boys shoulder when he turned around and looked at me.

" your supposed to be getting rest Maeve " he said to me when I sighed, " yeah I know but this will only take I second, can I talk to you alone please? " I asked when he gave up and just started walking with me over to the watch tower, I climbed up it first resting myself against the tree part at the top of the tower, when Thomas finally made it up to the top I looked at him.

" I don't understand what Ben means by this, this is all your fault! I saw you and Thomas, and something about how we did this? " I questioned as Thomas just looked at me strange, " I don't get that either, he said that we did this? Like we made him stung or we made this place? " he questioned as I licked my lips, " that's what I don't understand Thomas " I replied.

I talked with Thomas for a little while about the whole Ben situation and about what he had said, still me and Thomas still had no idea what Ben was talking about as we just went back to what we were doing, as promised I went back to where Newt had me before and I laid down again.

I got some rest for a little while, until I woke up and saw Ben standing over me. " Ben..? " I questioned before I was suddenly grabbed and strangled again. I started screaming as I started kicking my legs like crazy, I was really gonna die this time because he was really gripping onto me.

" Mavis! " Chuck yelled when I suddenly woke up to Chuck standing next to me shaking me a little bit to wake me up, I breathed almost as if I was out of breath from running for a long time. " your okay.. it's just a nightmare! " he said to me as held the top of my head. I was being haunted by Ben down, I wasn't even joking about it.

" their doing something " Chuck said to me when I sat up seeing everyone gathered around the opening, I got up and started sprinting over with Chuck but not getting to close, it was Ben he was knelt down on the ground as the Minho boy had cut the rope off of him, everyone around him had a set of spears. He was crying as I rested my hands on my hips, I watched as Minho carried a brown bag in front of the Maze entrance. " no,no, please.. -please don't. Please don't do it " Ben cried as he begged him not to.

I watched as Minho threw the bag into the maze, I looked over at Chuck. " what are they doing? " I said to him when Chuck glanced at me. " their doing what they have to do " he pointed to ben as I went back to watching in silence. I listened to the begging yells of Ben as he was pushed into the maze, suddenly hearing nothing else when the doors had closed.

Bens name had been crossed off for a very long time, I still went to sleep having trauma and nightmares from the incident that had happened in the forest. Thomas had run through the maze apparently when he wasn't supposed to, he killed a griever somehow. I found that pretty flippen cool and I didn't even know what a griever was or what they looked like. Nobody believed him until Minho confirmed he did, I sat in the room as Gally continued arguing with everyone.

" sorry to stop your guys dumb stupid argument but do you guys hear that? " I heard a loud sound from outside when everyone stopped and started running outside towards the pit, I followed after them pushing my way through everyone and standing next to Newt. " the box shouldn't be coming up " Minho spoke as he had stood in the crowd,  Newt and Gally opened the box as I crossed my arms watching, Thomas stood next to me as well watching in satisfaction.

" Newt! What do you see..? " I asked when Newt looked back up at everyone, " it's a girl.. " he said when I tilted my head past Newt he was right, it was a girl, I wasn't the only female in this box anymore. " I think she's dead " Newt spoke looking at her when I just shrugged, " oh come on Newt she's probably sleeping! " I said not wanting to believe this girl was already dead.

" what's in her hand? " Gally nodded towards her hand when Newt carefully picked up a note and unfolded it, " she's the last one ever " he read it out loud. Everyone kept having different expressions on their faces. " what the hell does that mean? " Newt shook his head confused.

She gasped really loudly as if she was just taking her first breath out of water, Newt nearly fell back in a panic. Everyone backed away when she looked directly at me and Thomas, " Thomas.. " she started resting her head back, " -..Mavis " she started panting a lot before falling back into her sleep she was in before.

I looked at Thomas and then at everyone else who all looked at us, " you still think I'm over reacting? " Gally said when I slapped him on the shoulder, " for cris sake Gally! Shut up! " I said before looking back down at the girl, " I don't even know her! " I defended myself, which to be honest I truly did not know this lady.
